Hi all,
Hoping to get some information from some of the more experienced mixers out there. I'm still new to DIY, lets say 20 mixes in. Despite not being an advanced mixer, I went against u/enyawreklaw's advice and picked up some Acetyl Pyrazine in a recent flavor order. The concept of it intrigued me, as it was the first I had thought about modifying the "texture" of a vape. Short version, I've added it to a few mixes (around 0.5%, mostly trying to augment the texture of TFA Cheesecake Graham, which certainly could be my first mistake) and have just ended up with overpoweringly bread-y juice that's not particularly enjoyable. I'm certainly going to change the levels and educate myself more on my own, but I'm hoping the more seasoned veterans won't mind sharing a bit of knowledge for myself and any other new mixers who have heard of AP and are similarly curious.
- What is your preferred use for AP? What % do you tend to mix at to accomplish this?
- What base flavors are your typical targets for a little added AP? How much? How does this improve upon them?
- What is your favorite recipe that utilizes AP?
More basic augmentations like CAP Super Sweet and WS-23 were pretty intuitive for me, though I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around AP despite a fair bit of research.
Any advice is appreciated!
Well, AP can be a bitch to work with as it can quickly turn into a corn chip, if you aren't careful.
To answer your questions:
- I use it everywhere from 0.5% to 1% depending what I use it for. Normally I wouldn't go higher than 1% due to the corn chip flavor it can bring along.
- AP works very well against bakeries and nutty vapes. Things like biscuits and cookies pairs very well with AP - again, between 0.5% and 1%.
- That would be this - Folkart shows exactly how well AP can work in a mix, as it does something to that INW Biscuit. Gives it a little crunch so to speak, which is what AP excels at doing.
So basically, need a little crunch in your mixes, AP is your go-to additive.
I put it in my cereal juices at .25-.5% and the same way in cheesecakes to bring out the Graham cracker.
I use it strictly for my RY4 recipe. I personally can't use it higher than 0.25% or it completely overpowers the rest of the recipe. I usually use it around 0.10% It gives a nutty, salty corn chip type flavor and texture, like most others have said. Good for nutty and dessert vapes.
I use it as an enhancer for cereal, nuts and sometimes bakery flavors.
As for percentage, anywhere from a couple drops to 1.5%
Well, the main use for AP (other than to enhance nuts) is to add Fritos to your profile. So let's say you wanted to make that Fritos apple pie... you could start with 2% AP and add maybe a Apple pie filling and some CAP SS and you're done. Yeah... Not a big fan. Maybe with the right tobacco blend...
I most definitely leaped before I really looked. Hoping to find a use, but I can definitely understand it may not be for everyone. Thanks!
