CAP Sugar Cookie.. what am I missing
submitted over 6 years ago by EighthTry

I hear people rave about CAP Sugar Cookie but everything I mix with it ends up reminding me of the very reason I've always hated bakery flavors. I get a pretty blatant wax/anise note and it doesn't taste like a cookie at all to me. It gives off that ambiguously bad retail e-juice flavor that I've come to dislike.

I've tried these.

Simple Sugar Cookie

|CAP|Sugar Cookie|8| |:-|:-|:-| |CAP|Vanilla Custard|4|

Lemon Cookie

|CAP|Italian Lemon Sicily|4| |:-|:-|:-| |CAP|Sugar Cookie|6|

Currently steeping this one.

Snickerdoodle Cookie

|CAP|Cinnamon Danish Swirl|3| |:-|:-|:-| |TFA|Marshmallow|1| |CAP|Sugar Cookie|7| |CAP|Vanilla Custard|4|

I just want a cookie damnit.

All 3 of those recipes you posted are terrible.

I've tried 1 and 3 and at first I kinda liked them but other than having a pretty decent smell, the vape is just kind of overpowering for me. CAP SC just gives off this strong chemical/metallic taste for me and CAP VC is just horrible if it doesn't steep for at least two weeks. Not a fan. u/EighthTry you ain't missing anything. I've mixed CAP SC in 6 or 7 recipes by now and anything above 2-3% is just horrible to me. I guess some people just taste it differently. I'm using an RDA at 37-40 watts with a 0.35-0.4 Ni80 coil.

Thanks. I've vaped all 3 of them and I'm pretty sure anyone who DV's that comment hasn't.

They're OK if you MTL them in a kayfun lite at 12 watts but running those recipes through modern gear isn't going to be a good time. Those recipes came out around 4 years ago and their mixers have released so many superior recipes since then.

They may work in a pod for some people.

Personally I feel those percentages are too high. I like cap sugar cookie but none of my recipes use higher than 3%

I would post an example but I'm on mobile and don't have any to hand sorry

by EighthTryover 6 years ago

I tried halving both recipes to no avail. What flavor/percent would you pair with it? (I just need something simple that displays CAP Sugar Cookie in the correct way so I can decide if it's just my taste or not)

by damndaewooover 6 years ago

I don't really have any recipes that focus on the sugar cookie aspect sorry. I personally use it more like a sweetener to make bakery flavours really stand out. I'll often combine it around 2-3% with 1% CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl, 0.5% INW Biscuit, and 1-2% TFA Graham Cracker Clear for like a biscuity sweet crusty base to add a fruit flavour over top of.

Percentages are way too high. Start low, maybe 2%, add more if needed. Cap Sugar Cookie is pretty strong.

I use it in a few blends and it's amazing.

I'm gonna get it delivered any time now, to try this recipe: https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/34610#3_banana_nuts_simple_banana_nut_bread_by_mrcoldone

This one's really good. One of my coworkers seems to be addicted to the stuff since I've mixed at least 400ml for her.

by HaniHaeyoover 6 years ago

That's great to hear! Do you stick to the recipe percentages? Someone in the comments says to tweak them.

3 points

by ReMaxxUTover 6 years agoTobacconist

The recipe (assuming I copied it correctly) was already 13% total flavor, so I stuck with that.

TFA Banana Nut Bread . . . 7%
CAP Sugar Cookie . . . 3%
CAP Vanilla Custard . . . 3%

As for tweaking, maybe 0.25% Super Sweet? I tried adding WF Walnut SC at 0.8% but might have been too much...

I add a bit of Banana Ripe to mine, 1.5% but without its just as good.

I'm in the same boat, I don't hate Cap Sugar Cookies but I don't like it either. I do love FA Cookie and INW and JF Biscuit so maybe try subbing with those. I suggest FA Cookie at maybe 50% or so.

How long have you steeped for?

I'm kinda in the same boat, and I'd love more thoughts on this!

CAP Sugar Cookie has this weird flavor to me, for the most part. But after a long enough steep, I find it works a bit differently. It's almost like it's very forward and odd, but once steeped well enough it settles out.

I can confirm the steeping helps. But im curious to know if you two are using CAP Sugar Cookoe V1 or V2. I personally ordered V2 because V1 was out of stock and i was impatient to wait. It was my first order ever into the diy. So i couldnt wait and i read V2 is not as good and as V1. I found when i mixed the simple sugar cookie recipe and used it as a shake and vape that it was just really bland and like i got a hint of cookie but just wasn't like "WOW" like i had read in the reviews. But after a 5 day steep i could feel the whole mix starting to round out abit and become more "flavoured" if you want to put it that way. I haven't noticed any off notes personally but taste is subjective and i hope this helps. Sorry i couldn't add info on the difference in V1 or V2.

I got V1 for sure. Maybe it's just one of those flavors I can't stand too much of.

Same for me. 2% is my absolute maximum for cap sc v1.

Definitely ordered V1

Ahhh. Well im sorry i can't be of more help. But like the previous commentor mentioned it could just a taste thing. Or that particular cookie concentrate doesnt bode well with your taste buds.

At least a week if not a bit more. Tasted the same as day one to me.

1 points

by elijuicyjonesover 6 years ago

Omg no wonder. Steep it before you start complaining.

I've nearly doubled /u/ID10-T's recommendation for steeping. It's perfectly reasonable to question the flavor and ask for suggestions when I've tried it in multiple variations and percentages of these recipes.

by Nelslothover 6 years ago

I have tried v1 and v2 and both are really nice for me. I'm even vaping that lemon cookie you reference as I type this.

Day one is nice but after a week it's even better so not sure if you have a bad batch or something unless you pick them notes up specifically.

by St1llFrankover 6 years agoThis flavor... This is not my kind of flavor

If you have TFA Peanut Butter, try this- Sugar Cookie@4%, + PB@4%, + 1% of your prefered Marshmallow. I vape it strait off but it's better after a week.

2 points

by clashyclashover 6 years ago

That looks like a good and easy one. TFA PB is good. Haven't tried to #2 but it's supposed to be superior. I know the original is just fine.

You want a sugar cookie? Grab RF Sugar Cookie, you're done.

by debb222over 6 years ago

sorry... but your last line made me lol... I love sugar cookie... I let mine steep a bit.. but now I vape it within a day because Caps SC fades in the og bottle it comes in... so buy enough that you'll use fairly quickly..

by LandingMonkeyover 6 years agoAlchemist

I'd reduce the Sugar Cookie by 30% and add a cream instead, CAP Butter Cream for example. Less Vanilla Custard too. Actually I think that the problem comes from this.

1 points

by LandingMonkeyover 6 years agoAlchemist

And a bit of sweetener too.

1 points

by EighthTryover 6 years ago

The Lemon version had the same issue as the Vanilla Custard version for me. I've tried cutting percents in half. I actually have Butter Cream ordered I can try that sometime.

.5% inw biscuit can help too or .5% fa cookie

Have it. Used it once. May use it again one day.

Cut all those recipes in half. Add .5-1% sweetener. And wait a week

Eyemakepizza has an awesome snickerdoodle cookie recipe that uses cap sugar cookies v1 on alltheflavors.com

He also has a sugar cookie recipe on there that I havent tried.

I don't see either of those on his profile

This is the recipe that got me into bakery flavors. Kismet it must be because I came to Reddit this evening to personally thank /u/ID10-T - ordering just two ingredients to dip my toes in so to speak was a lot easier than other 5+ ingredient recipes.

So thanks /u/ID10-T - I've got a few more of yours picked out for my next concentrate order and I have a feeling I wont be disappointed. Wanted to say thanks for sharing and thanks for your time and dedication.

For OP - I've always hated ALL bakery flavors I've ever tried until there was one at my local B&M that was pretty good - being a DIYer I knew it was over priced and that I could tailor it to my tastes. So I went for it.. I can't say you will ever find one you like but don't give up if you really want one.

If you like Banana the 3 Banana Nuts that /u/HaniHaeyo mentioned is kick ass too.

Wait which recipe

Sugar Cookie. All the other recipes I had read were several ingredients. A two ingredient recipe with such great reviews from a well established mixer was way less intimidating.
