Recap:

u/staybert hunted me down to collab in the mixing lab. We came up with "You're My Boy Blue" which is a Blueberry/boysenberry soda. You can find the recipe on ATF under the DIY_Discord account. Super fun collab if I don't say so myself.

/u/AlfredPudding was asked to put together an essential list of flavors to have in your stash, as usually he didn't disappoint. The list has 400+ flavors on it and my wallets balls just shrivelled up. I can't stress how awesome he is, he's game for just about anything.

/u/Kittybit8 decided to release the much anticipated "Mists of Buddha" which you previously needed "Top Secret" level security clearance. I asked him about it once, he said he could tell me but he'd have to kill me. I opted to wait.

The 2nd discord mixer showdown happened this past weekend. You can see the details in this post by everyone's favorite granddad here. If you want to see the mixes check out the comments. As of right now it looks like Blue Team is going to win, but loved the collaborative competition. I got to be teamed up with one my mentors, even if he doesn't realize it, /u/Foment_life. It was a really fun experience and I couldn't have asked for better teammates. Yeah I'm talking to you /u/gunsforhands. I really want to congratulate the blue team, as they do have a fairly commanding 4 pt lead with only 1 judge left. You guys are all awesome and I bow to the greatness of the Pizza Man.

PS I want another shot at the champ!

Introduction:

Mentorship is one of the best components of this community. Never has one of the more experienced mixers ever said they will not help you if they ask. It's time to get some of those questions answered.

Idea:

You don't have to have just one mentor. You can have many. Reach out and ask questions, don't be shy, if you're lurking on here or in discord and have a question ASK IT. It doesn't matter how silly YOU might think it is, chances are you'll get a good answer and you may have just helped out a fellow lurker. One thing is see happening so much on the discord server is that messages and information spread like wildfire.

Today's Discussion Topic:

Talk about some of the lessons you've learned from your mentors. You don't have to blow up their spot by tagging one of them like I did, but you can, haha.

Have you gone from mentee to mentor and are you more inclined to help others, because of the help and support you've received from members of this community?

Over the last few week, chatting people up on the discord, I recieved tons of helpful comments, feedback on my recipes, as well as knowledge on general mixing, flavors, hardware and even CBD mixing.

I even was able to pay some of the knowledge I gained forward to others that had questions, and I really enjoy doing so.

There are way too many people that have helped me so far to write them down, but you can find each and every single one on the Discord Server. If you haven't joined up, I highly recommend you sign up on Discord and join today. Lots of Knowledge to be gained and tons of amazing people to get to know!

Haven't thought about mentorship in that sense, but now when you guys are talking about it, the whole discord has become my mentors, and most of all - great friends!

Just 2 months ago I didn't have a single original recipie (even though I had been mixing for years), now only becasue of the awesome help and daily insights/tips from everyone I now have 5 public recipies on ATF (some even got good reviews!), and another 3-4 projects nearing completion. There's too many awesome people to thank for this, but you know who you are. This community truly is one of a kind, no matter how famous one mixer becomes, everyone still hangs around and shares their wealth of knowledge.

It's certainly not a one way street puck, most of us are learning from one another constantly, whether it's learning from someone else's successes, failures, or exploring new profiles after someone else blazed that trail for you.

You guys were an excellent team, I had a ton of fun. If ever we get an offer for another showdown I wouldn't hesitate for a second to jump back into the fray with you two!

I like to pass on the little tricks that I learn through mixing and from others. It's really what helps folks improve the most. There are way too many folks to thank for them all. Examples: INW Cactus or FA Pear to add juiciness, Cactus or cucumber to accentuate rind notes in melon, FLV Boysenberry to jam up other fruits, CAP Hibiscus to add sticky sweet candy mouthfeel.

Juiciness I already knew, but this FLV Boysenberry to jam up other fruits...that's new and I love that flavor. Thanks!

1% TFA citrus punch greatly brings out citrus in other fruits. 6% cap mango with 1% citrus punch turned it into a pineapple mango that is layered and not simply blended.

you founds something to make Cap Mango usable over 1%, you win mixing.

I would say my primary mentor in mixing would be /u/chemicalburnvictim. Although lately I've been mixing so much Cactus that /u/philosaphucker may be in contention.
