Seeking recommendations for someone that can't taste vape well
submitted over 6 years ago by MaxOWTex

I'm looking for single flavors that I can try and taste since I don't taste much. I've tried retail liquids and I can taste something, but I can't taste much of the stuff I've noted.

Below are some old notes that I took when I was using the Troll 2 tank, but I've since got a Hadaly clone to try again and find something that I like. Still, muted flavors.

I'm hoping that someone that relates to me can drop some flavors that I'd actually be able to taste.

Not included in the notes below were some experience in tasting almonds in a 1-shot of Rhodonite (DIYorDIE), and mint in Cuprian (DIYorDIE).

TPA Graham Cracker (Clear) 5% 70/30 May 6 2017: (6/7/2017) Buttery taste. A little creamy. Recommended to mix with cinnamon roll

RF SC 2% Cinnamon Roll, 4% TPA Bavarian Cream 3mg 50/50 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Tasty. Cinnamon is mild. Bakery taste. Not quite an all day vape though.

RF SC 2.5% Watermelon, RF SC %1 Taffy Base 3mg 50/50 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild throat hit. Mild Watermelon taste. A little thick(?) Barely noticeable. Maybe use a bit more taffy base.

RF SC 2.5% Tropical Punch, RF SC %1 Taffy Base 3mg 50/50 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Pineapple taste. A little bit fruity.

TPA %5 Strawberry Ripe 70/30 5/6/2017: (6/7/2017) Very mild strawberry seed flavor.

TPA 3% Bavarian Cream 70/30 5/6/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild vanilla taste. Kind of airy.

RF SC 2.5% Watermelon 50/50 3mg 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild Watermelon flavor. Mild throat hit. Thinner than with Taffy Base.

RF SC 2% Lemon Cookie 70/40 5/6/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild sweet citrus taste. A little bit creamy.

RF SC 2% Strawberry Lemonade 70/30 5/6/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild strawberry taste initially, and quickly becomes airy. Almost tasted a lemon flavor, but quickly went away on just the first puff

RF SC 2% Tropical Punch 70/30 5/6/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild Pineapple. Mild fruity. Thinner than with Taffy Base

RF SC 2% Taffy Base 50/50 3mg 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Mild throat hit. A little bit thick.

RF SC 2% Cinnamon Roll 50/50 3mg 6/4/2017: (6/7/2017) Good cinnamon flavor. Mild throat hit. Begs for cream/buttery/vanilla flavor.

Everything tastes pretty mild for me.

That's probably because everything is at a very low percent. Hell, most of those flavors I'd start out at 5% at least for basic tasting, and then add to them--Strawberry ripe, I've heard, needs even higher as a stand-alone. And then I really do believe most juices are better with sweetener to bring out the flavors better--if you're not running any and are complaining about barely tasting anything...

Try this: Take that strawberry lemonade at 8%, add 1% CAP SS, and tell me that doesn't hit you.

Strawberry ripe has lots of EM so it mutes itself at high percentages, just FYI

Cool to note!

I can't taste strawberry despite how much I'd love to. -_-

Did you try them all yet? I read some are better than others for non strawberry tasters but can’t recall which.

I've found you can push past it's self-muting around 10%, especially if you add a touch of another strawberry like FA Juicy or JF Sweet. Note for people that taste strawberry normally do NOT use my recommendations unless you like floral vapes.

I'm sticking with the strawberry trinity but good information for the non sb tasters.

What is 'EM'?

Ethyl maltol, an artificial sweetener.

Here are some of the strongest flavours I've tried, both in terms of percentage and the "I can't believe anyone will not be able to taste this" factor:

  1. FLV Alpine Strawberry (0.1-02%) - Hands down the most insanely strong flavour I've tried. Use at 1 drop to 10ml (0.2%) for a full strength solo vape or half that or less in a mix. The bottle is expensive, but at those percentages the price per ml is cheaper than almost anything else. Sometimes recommended for people who otherwise can't taste strawberries.
  2. INW Cactus - Flavour is hard to describe, but I can taste it in a mix even at 1 drop to 20ml.
  3. FLV Pink Guava (0.1-3%) - Tastes like like a pink version of INW cactus to me. Nearly as strong as alpine strawberry and needs to be added a drop at a time as it will completely dominate any other flavour.
  4. INW Raspberry (0.5-1%) - Not my favourite raspberry, but it's another on of those super dominant flavours that you'll definitely be able to taste.
  5. FLV Papaya Punch (1%) - Really nice tropical fruit flavour and great solo vape. MUCH stronger and in your face than FLV Tropical Punch and FLV Citrus punch in case you're thinking it can be substituted with another one of their punch flavours.
  6. FLV Yakima Hops (0.5-5%) - Really distinct flavour at any percentage

Besides that, a few drops of CAP Super sweet and Koolada often brightens a fruit mix really well.

Just a word of warning that for some people the taste of koolada, even at low percentage, mutes all other flavors.

Adding sweetener could help, it tends to make flavors seem more potent. And you should try decent flagors. FA Blackcurrant even at 2% is strong. CAP Sweet Tangerine would need to be more around three or four percent, but can be rough on the throat for some.1.5% FLV Creme de Menthe could aleo work.

You should have no problem tasting FLV Wild Melon @ 2%. Or HS Juicy Peach @ 2%. Or VT Persian Lime @ 2%. Or FA Forest Fruit @ 4%. Or VT Banana Custard @ 2%.

There's so many good and strong flavours out there that can quite happily be vaped on their own. Add a little cooling - add a little CAP Super Sweet. Lovely.

If you're partial to strong menthols, I find that they can simulate a "flavour oomph" to give the juice depth. I combo extreme ice FW at 15%, and then combo it with a fruit flavour (strength varies depending on juice or leave it out entirely) and slowly adjust the fruit and menthol to taste.

I vape this at 40-60w on a profile RDA (next mesh and cotton bacon)

INW Eukaliptus Z Mieta at 1% for starters. Go up to 4% if you need to. It tastes like vicks vaporub but it really clears my pallette and let's me taste other flavors a lot better.

If you haven't already, switch from Kanthal and cotton to Stainless Steel and rayon. Massive flavor improvement for a lot of people.

If you don't hate black licorice try TPA absinthe flavor at 5%. It'll look like jizz but I can always taste it very well.

Taste is subjective. You need to revitalize your pallette if you cannot taste what the majority tastes, unless you have nasal issues. Water and green olives, always helped me to reset for wine. I vape and some of the worst flavors Ive tasted were retail but you should be capable of tasting their objective.
