Hello! I am pretty new to this, i have bought a bunch of flavors to make recipe replicas and my own.
One problem i have though is with TFA Orange Bar flavor. When i put it in mixes, it wont ever mix properly. It will slowly go on top of the mix. When i stir the mix at first it makes small bubbles of itself in the mix (seems like to me how oil 'mixes' with water) and if i continue it seems to be mixed, though some hours later i can see it on the top again. Also, its the only flavor that makes my mixes look cloudy. I have tested all of my flavors to single flavor batches to detect which one does all of that, its defenitely the Orange Bar alone.
My method is:
-
Put in PG/VG
-
Put the flavors
-
Stir like my life depends on it
-
Leave the bottle open for some hours
-
(Maybe use the warm water technique too, depends on my mood)
-
Close the bottle and stir again
-
Let it steep (i let even fruits steep for some few days because i think it makes their taste better and they blend better)
-
I stir it daily while i let it steep.
Nothing changes. Orange Bar wont be mixed. I am worried it has oil in it or is it spoiled?
The ingredients say nothing about oil in it (water, pg, flavor), and the expiration date is about 6 months from now.
The taste looks like its blended though.... so, should i get worried?
Thanks D:
If you're talking about TFA Orange Cream Bar, the flavor in there includes both orange oil and blood orange oil. They will mix if you shake the hell out of it, but they'll come out of solution over time. Make sure to shake the flavor before adding it, seal the bottle of juice, and then shake that like it's a baby that owes you money. Shake it every time you use it, too.
oh yeah its Orange Cream Bar, not Orange Bar D: well thanks, thats enlightening, i had the impression that vaping diluted oil even in tiny ammounts is not entirely safe, i guess its safe enough, i vaped it a lot already :P
Something about the size of the molecules of citrus oils makes them safe or something like that (I’m not a scientist or doctor) but just be aware than not only should your shake the hell out of that bottle of flavoring every time you use it (this is good practice for all flavors anyway), you also need to shake any juice with it in there frequently (which is usually not necessary). Maybe even every time you redrip or refill a tank, but at least daily, otherwise too much orange will eventually float to the top and it won’t taste right.
Wrap your mixed bottle in a sock or towel and throw it in the dryer on its lowest heat setting for an hour. It's how I mix all my juice.
You’re just oxidizing it needlessly at that point tbh. It’s been discussed here for years and consensus is ‘Heat curing’ is bad for the nic and doesn’t actually help much.
Obviously I’m not telling you to stop, it’s your juice and it works for you! But OP may want to research this method more before deciding on it for themselves.
