##Better late than never?

> As our Weekly thread contributor /u/RancerDS pointed out, in a post that didn’t gain much traction, the FAQ Additives/Enhancers is an aging resource in need of an update. More than a few new flavors that work as additives have been released in the last year and while I get to work on an update I’d love to know what you think is missing from the list and your thoughts and experiences on Additives & Enhancers, in general and specifically for the ones you use.

##There’s a SHOWDOWN happening! Go check it out.

#Highlights from Last Week

  • /u/Korlimann & /u/mixnjuice have started a project to create a better recipe sharing website that intends to fill many of the feature gaps that other platforms have while also being open to development and input from the community. As well as a call for developers.
  • /u/RancerDS asked how long you keep your mixes around or "What the longest a batch lasts for you?"
  • /u/ID10-T posted this brilliant breakdown of 9 popcorn flavors in the Weekly SFT Thread
  • /u/gumboard asked about… one shots? What’s good and where to get them.
  • /u/FACE_MEAT dropped a flavor review for the new Capella Sweet Currant

DEVELOPED, released every Tuesday at 6:00pm EST, shows our recipe development process in action! It's a short 15 minute episode that's fast-paced, entertaining, and packed with information. ##Mixin Vixens > From Emily (/u/mlNikon) "Mixin Vixens is a diverse all female mixing panel on a YouTube weekly show that airs live Sunday’s at 6pm Eastern. Weekly we take pictures submitted by our viewers and each of us interprets the picture and converts it from a visual to a taste. After 4 rounds of mixing we allow the Man Team to critique our recipes and give us hell. Week after week we provide knowledge and entertainment. Month after month after we pick the recipe we want judged the judges come in knock us over the head and there is only one woman standing."

##Noted > The three hosts /u/mlNikon, /u/CheebaSteeba, and /u/ID10-T (and usually one guest) talk extensively about last week's Flavor of the Week. They each try a handful of flavors (or many more than that) and give their impressions while often sharing a few recipes that include those flavors.

##The Fog Vlog An ensemble cast of South African mixers who do live mixes, flavor reviews and mixer reviews where they review several recipes from one mixer.

##Rin Vapes > Rin is a consummate guest on many DIY podcasts, an OG mixer, and has been putting out DIY and vaping videos on her own channel for years

Almost anything can be an additive or enhancer. Do you wanna just list every flavor and how it might be used like that?

I mean, I do explain it in the FAQ but yes & no. Obviously we have to draw a line somewhere short of including every flavor that exists. It would make sense to include flavors that have a primary use as an additive or enhancer or flavors that work exceptionally well as such.

instead of arranging things alphabetically - like they are now - it would be better to arrange them by what they bring to the table - ie juiciness, sweetness, etc

You bring up a good point. It can be rather subjective as to whether it is a "necessary" ingredient to add flavor versus enhancing those that form the core components.

Maybe FA Lemon Sicily/FE Lemon/INW Lemon Mix deserves a spot in the Additives & Enhancers FAQ? Even though my main use case is for Blueberries and Lemonades, I'm sure some of you pros has some more cool use cases.

Also FLV Citrus Soda and VT Lemonade could probably be added to the "fizzy" department.

Well, obviously FA Polar Blast and WS-23 are mandatory. CAP Hibiscus does the job of TFA Dragonfruit, but is better. FA Blackcurrant still works magic on fruits. FA amber still cooks them. INW Lemon Mix still brightens with lemon zest. There are dozens of flavors to add sweetness without sucralose.
