Cap Sweet Currant
submitted over 6 years ago by ICBillows

Hello all. I need help.

First time posting here. Just stumped on how to start using this stuff (Cap Sweet Currant) and thought I’d get some help from the group.

I’ve been mixing for about 9 mos now and found success only in mixing other people’s recipes. That is ok for me and I’m finding the savings to be so valuable that I haven’t been really needing much else to stay fresh and exciting. That was until about a month ago. Now I can’t seem to stop mixing and experimenting lol. I got the bug and I can’t control it. Now I want to start making my own recipes and possibly share them(if their good) so I can give back to the community that has given so much to me. This is where Capellas Sweet Currant comes in.

I recently watched a video where Wayne Walker was just gushing over this flavor. I looked online and found a smaller bottle of it on an “express”type ecig site(can’t remember if reddit allows linking ) and when it came I opened the bottle and almost immediately smelled it before the cap came off. It smells wonderful. Now I won’t pretend to have the pallet of some of the mixers out there who are somehow able to take flavorings that shouldn’t fit together and make them into a masterpiece(looking at you Notcharlesmanson-seriously? Like how did you make those flavorings ultimately turn into fruity pebbles after a 2 week steep?) and for some reason,I don’t think my pallet will ever be that refined. I’ve abused substances at a darker time in my life and I believe that is why my sense of taste isn’t the best. However it’s not completely ruined and there are a lot of flavors out there that I enjoy. Cap Sweet Currant seems to be one of them.

My first attempt was my usual 5% when mixing SFT of any Capella concentrate. This was too strong imo. So even after cutting it in half I still got a certain off not that is indescribable, maybe green and viney? But I think both the 5% and the 2.5% showed me what potential this flavor had. It’s sweet, bright, and kinda jammy. I can taste that green part and to me it’s nice. I could personally vape this at 2.5% solo, but I don’t think that was its intended purpose. Wayne said it’s mostly being used to brighten or intensify fruits? I’m so new to this mixing game and whenever I try to make something of my ownI generally muddy the waters lol. But my first attempt at mixing this into something vapeable was pretty good. Until I once again muddied the waters by adding 2.5% FW Yogurt.

Anyhoo here’s what I tried:

INW Cactus 1%

CAP Sweet Currant 2%

TPA Dragon Fruit 3%

TPA Banana Cream 2%

All seemed pretty well until I went and muddied it all up with 2.5% shot of fw yogurt. Maybe I should have started at 1% ?

I know there are other ways to get a more creamy experience but I had just got this fw yogurt flavor in and wanted to use it. I can’t find any good uses for it so far. I believe I bought it after reading Wayne’s flavorbook entry and read how he likes using it in smaller amounts to aid mixes. He almost uses it like a secret weapon, which is cool-but I’m nowhere near there yet. Gotta crawl before walking, right?

So basically I’m asking the community to look at my little recipe and tell me what I could do to improve. Also If you’ve tried Cap Sweet Currant yourself, how are you using it?

Thanks for the help. I’m in need of it! Never knew how hard it really was to make a good recipe 😔

Lol, lots of strawberries! No problem. Tpa strawberry 4%/Tpa strawberry ripe 2% is the classic duo at about those percentages if you want to give it a shot

Hmm. What are you aiming for here? I see possibilities in two different directions if you simplify (currant/low % cactus, or banana/currant/possibly yogurt).

You know I wasn’t aiming for anything tbh. I sft the currant as it’s a new flavor(too high I believe) at 5% and tasted it, and immediately wanted to cut it in half and add something to it that I thought would taste good. So the cactus should have been lower I agree. I’m just wondering what others might could mix it with

Nice thanks. And what should I use the sweet currant at with these other 2 straws?

Any thoughts on using this sweet currant to Jam up another berry? Fa forest fruit maybe? Hmmm. Gonna have to experiment cuz the flavor itself is beautiful. Just not much experience mixing my own recipes so don’t wanna waste

I'm curious if you've had any success as I just recently got this flavor myself for the same reason! After trying the flavor solo I liked it so much that I decided I just wanted to boost the areas that felt lacking (which are few). Here's what I landed on so far:

3% Cap Sweet Currant

2.5% FA Fuji

0.5% INW Kaktus

0.5% Cap Super Sweet

The Fuji brings some body to the Currant and tones down that green note just a bit while the Kaktus rounds everything out and brings the juice!

I feel like this flavor is so distinct that mixing it with more than 2-3 other flavors is bound to have unexpected consequences and this simple mix is, to me, pretty darn delicious as is. Let me know if you try it and what you think, or if you've had any luck with any other combinations. I'm super excited to experiment more with this interesting flavor!

You know Your correct in saying that you really don’t wanna do too much or add too much to it. I have also been using it at 3% and found a couple recipes that are delicious. It took me a while but the flavor itself doesn’t seem to change much after steeping so that’s a plus.

Firstly after a 2 week stint over at Failure Town, I’m able to say with confidence that this is a delicious little recipe and I’ve been running it in a few rta’s with great success and nice flavor. An rda is good as well but it really shines in a more condensed setting, maybe a single coil rda will do it justice. Not sure.

Cap Sweet Currant-3.5% Fa Mandarin(Tanger)-1.5% Tpa VBIC-2%

You know I’ve only been vaping this for a few days and so far it is good. My tastes are different than yours, but to me it is very nice. The contrast that Currant brings to mandarins tangy quality is what I was shooting for all along. I’m still pretty new to mixing and have a lot to learn. I feel like what I have learned has brought me to a point where I’m able to use scent as a way to distinguish what will and will not work well together. I’m usually right, but there’s that 20 percent of the time that I’m dead wrong 🤣🤷🏼‍♂️

So far I have only published a couple of my own recipes. This is one.

Jeez did I just say “publish?”.... What am I,an author now? Lmaooooooo!

I’m intrigued by your use of kactus inw. I have a Bourbon and Berry recipe I’m working on and used Currant and Kactus as well. If you own the flavors, give this a try and tell me what you think.

Kaktus inw 0.5 Cream flv 1 Forest fruit fa 3 Kentucky Bourbon 2 Shisha strawberry 2 Sweet currant cap 3 Vienna cream fa 2 Wine champagne fa 1.75

70/30 and a week steep for the booze and creams to meld together. 15.25% total flavor.

Hope this helps. I used grape inw together with Currant too and had a nice result. That particular grape overtook the recipe tho. Maybe something like this would be nice.

Grape inw-2.5 Kactus inw 1 Sweet currant cap 3

Super sweet-0.25

Cheers!!! Let me know how you make out

Also I apologize if my recipes are hard to read. I have yet to figure out how you guys get your percentages of recipes to display like you do. Mine just come out in paragraph form no matter what I do lol. Sorry in advance
