Help me fix my Tangeberry!
submitted over 6 years ago by rootspy

|Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |CAP|Sweet Tangerine|6| |TPA|Blueberry Extra|4| |TPA|Dragonfruit|2| |TPA|Ethyl Maltol|.5| |TPA|Sucralose|.5|

So I really like this mix, but it feels "muddy". I do taste the A LITTLE of the tangerine sometimes on inhale/exhale (and when I lick the atomizer :) ) .But I don't taste anything else (blueberry/DF). Ideas?

Thanks

Cam

Your percentages are too high. Lose the EM and sucralose

How high? 25% or more? Honestly I'm weaning myself off of store bought, and I'm used to stronger flavoring I think, including (and possibly especially) the sweeteners.

Sweeteners muddle flavor. Most store vendors use it to mask shit recipes.

I'd drop both the sweeteners, drop the DF to 0.5 - 0.75, drop the Tangerine down to 3ish%, blue extra down to 2%. Add 1 drop per 30ml Lemon Sicily if you want a bit more tang and/or 0.25 INW Orange for a bit more citrus(no acrylic tanks).

I feel like the percentages are fine. However the EM is probably muting and the DF is doing what it does. Emulsify.

Thanks much for the help guys. I took a little of everyone's advice. This was very instructive . Reducing the flavor %s actually made each somewhat more distinct.

Sweet Tangerine (CAP) @ 3%

Blueberry Extra (TPA) @ 2%

DragonFruit (TPA) @ 1%

Sucralose (ECX) @ 1% (didn't intend this, wasn't watching. Was going for .75

This might be pretty close though it's even a little sweet for me. :)

That's awesome. Who doesn't love a good 1-2-3?

And thank you for coming back and posting what you did and how it was.

Dragonfruit is a good mixer/emulsion, but maybe reduce it a little. EM mutes flavours, so you could skip it altogether.

K, I'll reduce the DF, I'm kind of used to the sweet stuff though. :)

If you are just throwing EM at the wall thinking it's gonna sweeten whatever mix you put it in, you don't how to use it. Get rid of it

I respect your comments and I read a lot of them here. I didn't put the EM in there blindly. I like sweeter juice, but was trying to have less impact on my coils. Many comments in this sub suggest a 50/50 ratio of sucralose and EM to sweeten with less damage to coils. I think some have even said cap super sweet is a 50/50 EM and sucralose (maybe with citric acid if I remember?) ...and I freely admit I don't know how to use EM (or any of this stuff for that matter) :)

Nix the dragon fruit. Simplify the recipe to have only the flavors you want to taste.

removing the Sucralose & EM and reducing the total percentage would give you a potential 1-2-3

1% Dragonfruit

2% Blueberry Extra

3% Sweet Tangerine

EM is probably the villian here, as others have stated EM isnt easy to use and will ruin recipes very easily. Nix that and if you need more sweet try .75 sucralose.

Id go so far as to nix them both and sub them for .25% CAP super sweet if they're looking for a more candy like flavour

Have you tried just the tangerine and blueberry together? Sometimes flavors sound good but dont jive well when mixed. I would focus on finding a (your preferred) ballance between the two if you haven't already.

I think that'll be my next iteration. /u/cooperCollins suggested the same. The dragonfruit was in there because many people on this sub propose it as a "balancer" or "smoother" in fruit mixes. Just trying to learn! :)

Oh yeah, dragon fruit is a good one. It can do a lot of things. I guess it can blend things together nicely. But I like what it does to fruit mixes. It can brighten things up pretty good. When you find the balance I was talking about add some and see how it changes.

.

If you want more of a Tang flavor like the drink, Vape Train makes a good one. I forget the name "Tangy Orange Drink" maybe? Another orange that's stronger than Caps Sweet Tangerine is Inawera Shisha Orange. It's a good potent orange flavor.

I've found that TPA Dragonfruit can end up meshing all your flavors together so you don't get the individual flavors as much as blended version of what you were looking for. Almost a completely different fruit all together.

And if the fruits fade, you end up with dragonfruit vape. Probably not the original intent :p

Hmmm I like the look of this and am a huge fan of sweet tangerine. Maybe add another orange in it? Will mix some of this and have a play with it
