I recently ordered a batch of 100pg 100mg/ml nicotine. The nicotine was clear, but had a harsh smell and taste. Even when mixed as low as 3mg.
So I asked for another replacement bottle to be sent. This bottle was dated as recent as being made 2 weeks ago. Still the same thing.
I have only used 48mg/ml in the past with no issue. Is this "peppery" taste common with the 100mg or is it possible that it is just low quality nicotine and or bad batch(s).
Ive mixed the same recipe with 48mg and both 100mg bottles and am getting the distinct taste in the 100 mg ones.
Ive read somewhere it may dissapear after a few days of sitting.. I guess the only way to find out is wait and see.
Any thoughts or findings? Thank you
EDIT: PURNIC Brand
Something is going on with NR. I have a small business and NR was my nicotine supplier. I used to get pure but have been mainly using 10% solutions the last 2 years. Their most recent batches came in super discolored and harsh. Ruined the entire mix. They sent me out a replacement and it was the same. I decided to go back to pure to cut out any issues that may be happening during their production process. Turns out they have no PurNic pure nicotine available anymore (Or any pure for that matter). I asked my old business partner, who has a bigger juice company now, and he said they are out of pure nicotine because of a nicotine shortage. I’m not sure what that means exactly. They have no pure nicotine for their b2b clients but are still selling solutions to their DIY customers??? and the solutions are shit! Something is off and I dont know what. Are they using old nicotine stock to compensate for the nicotine shortage? Are they sourcing it from a competitor? Or from china with out telling consumers they dont have their usual nicotine? Anyone have more info?
I use 100mg chemnovatic from Nic River in all my mixes. I make 3mg liquid and have never had a problem. I can't speak for shake n vapes, all my mixes sit for min 2 weeks. Where do you get your nicotine from?
same place, but its the purnic variety. I mixed up a batch a few weeks ago that i can test later.
Thanks for the reply
Holy shit. Going through the same thing!
I literally found this post because I was searching for a new nic supplier.
Ordered 100mg Nic Salt from Nicotine River and got a bad bottle, which ruined all my juice. So I hit them up and they eventually sent another bottle which just got here a couple days ago. So I made more juice (only .5L this time just in case), and while it’s not nearly as bad as the last one, it’s still very bad!
So now I have to find ANOTHER bottle to get and idk where to go.
The bottle I have is also PurNic Salt.
What sucks is I am having a terrible few months financially and the place my gf works decided literally in the middle of a work day to close down that location permanently. So I’m broke af and the $20 I spent on this I now wish I could get back :/
But I can’t afford to buy juice, so I have to find new nic ASAP regardless.
It’s been a nightmare. I’ve been mixing for myself for like 5 years now and this is the first bad nic I’ve ever gotten, and it’s twice in a row.
I stick to liquid barn nic mostly. Sorry to hear about your problems. I would give them a try. I get the 48mg/ml and I've had no problems.
How long have you bought from them for? I tried them a couple years ago and all 3 batches I rec'd from them were brown, peppery, and ruined each mix.
The PurNic salts seem to be awesome for everyone. The freebase, no so much. I'm sure some like it. But I've been reading posts about people having issues with it recently. Get the Chemnovatic next time, preferably from Vaperstek. They have always sold me really good nic (100mg/ml).
Thanks. Ill have to try that brand next time. Yeah, salts seem to work pretty good as well, but when i mix them for mtl at like 12-18mg i get a shortness of breathe. Thats one of the reasons i got freebase. Or else i use salts for dtl at 4mg.
> i get a shortness of breathe.
I get it too from salts. Also if I exhale out of my nose it burns and tastes like chemicals. I took a drag of 25 mg salt nic juice lastnight before bed. I made the mistake of breathing in more than normal. Holy shit did that hurt. My actual lungs were in pain. I've never experienced anything like it in five years of vaping. I think I'm going to ditch pod devices..
(Maybe a dumb question, but) are you sure you are mixing at 100mg instead 48mg? The only time I have had a peppery flavor from nic was when I didn't set my calculator to the correct nic mg for the base. For those who are use calculators correctly, I don't recommend it. ;)
Nic River has made it right with my nasty nic it was batch 02222019-01 Contact them and let them know that you are not happy if you got something bad from them. Great customer service. But I'm still out on the rest of the materials and I don't think that the folks that got my nasty juice want to chance it again.
