Favourite abstract recipie?
submitted over 6 years ago by staybert

Been thinking about asking this for a while, and after reading u/ID10-T 's review of Blue Eyes White Dragon in this weeks "What are you vaping?" thread, I finally got the courage. A few weeks ago I tried Grack Juice for the first time, and while it was not my favourite recipie, it stuck to me. Because it was really unique.

What you usually see here, on ATF and ELR are recipies trying to mimic IRL stuff. A strawberry cheesecake, blueberry ice cream, chocolate milk, etc. But isn't it harder to make a great "abstract" recipie? A taste that has no real culinary reference.

While looking into this I found another recipie called Galaxy Grape, which originated from this reddit post asking "What do you think outer space tastes like?"

Anyway, enough of me mumbling.. I think you get the idea. Please share your favourite "abstract" recipie, and maybe even write a sentence or two about why you like it!

I'm not sure I have a "favorite" but there are a few I find especially notable in addition to Grack Juice and Blue Eyes White Dragon:

Fiestas and Fiascos

Coop's Kiwi Bourbon

Pretty much this guy's whole portfolio

And a couple of my own attempts at abstract recipe art:

Mother of Dragons' Milk

1-2-3 #YachtCocaineProstitutes

So much this. I haven’t come across anything else that marries such odd ingredients so masterfully.

YachtCocaineProstitutes sounds like a knock-off of Boats 'n Hoes.

It's a fine line between homage and knock-off, of course I like to think YachtCocaineProstitutes fell on the right side of that line. I gave Boats 'n Hoes a shout out in the description.

Lol sorry, I wasn't trying to sling mud at it (I honestly didn't notice it was yours, either!). Perhaps knock-off isn't the right word. Maybe a clone of a trademarked name or something?

Out of curiosity, what % of FA Melon Cantaloupe did you enjoy the mix with? Still 1%? Is there a honeydew flavor that might work better? I've been wanting to make everything melons lately, so I'm just curious.

I haven't mixed this, but just the concept gets me going.

What a fantastic idea. Just reading the notes is like a good book!

Books are pretty high up on my favorite aroma list. Possibly only surpassed by the smell of grandpa's shed.

Eventually, I'll have what I need for that recipe. And I agree, a great deal of thought has clearly been put into the description.

I'm working on a cinnamon sweet potato with strawberry and marshmallow with a touch of cookie. Should be done this week. I've been working on it for almost 2 months. It's a steeper.

That sounds very interesting. May I ask how did this idea came about?

I may be showing some bias here, but BEWD is always going to be a personal favorite.

I do love the idea of just toying around with a bunch of things that are just individually tasty and seeing what shakes out in the end.

Thats a great tip! Time to do something funky with HS Blueberry :)

Something I do from time to time (including BEWD's Genesis) is let a name for a mix dictate what the flavors are in the mix. Sort of working backwards without any constraint but a fun name. Focusing on what tastes good and fits the name rather than what fits a given flavor profile.

How about Graffiti? I posted some notes on it the weekly what are you vaping thread a while back. That one fits in the abstract category quite nicely.

I’m working on a thrills (soap gum flavour) it’s currently steeping. If anybody is interested I’ll post the recopie. Smells spot on thus far.

Cactus, guava, and Sicily lemon is my favourite Recipe outcome so far.
