Boys in the Hood.
submitted over 6 years ago by xGRANITExSilky

And by boys I mean sour kids and hood I mean patch.

Sour Patch Kids was a challenge, but let me tell you, WFs line of candy concentrates made it a whole lot easier on me.

WHAT'S THIS YOU SAY? SILKY IS SUBMITTING A CANDY RECIPE?  Deal with it. I needed something to work on while the onslaught of my new custard tester batches were steeping, and this is it.

Boyz n the Hood.

|Flavor Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |WF|Sour Gummy Candy SC|2.5| |WF|Sour Ball Candy SC|1| |FLV|Boysenberry|1.25| |INW|Raspberry|0.3| |CAP|Lemon Lime|0.75| |CAP|Sweet Tangerine|0.75| |INW|Lemon Mix|0.3|

Add CAP Super Sweet to your liking! It's a candy recipe after all!

Total 6.85% // SNV (Overnight Steep)

WF Sour Gummy Candy was an obvious choice here for me. The first time I used this concentrate I paired it with a couple candy watermelons. It was just okay, but I felt like I was missing something. I hadn't even connected the dots that this was an attempt to nail the sour patch kids profile until after the fact, but I knew right away that this could work really well if I was a little more strategic in my accents. I wanted to try and achieve that wondrous candy vape I longed for, so the work began. This is an excellent base went built upon, and I wanted to do just that. It's got a bit of a sour vibe going on, it's tart, and most importantly it has an awesome gummy candy texture. You can tell this is fruity, but it's pretty nondescript which was really helpful and forgiving.

WF Sour Ball Candy is a new lethal weapon in my arsenal. For real. You want sour? Get this. I think it's even better than FLV Sour Apple, and it just fit for this profile better. This helped step up the authenticity of the recipe and blends well with the fruits. Sidenote: Sour Apple + Sour Ball Candy is magic too, but for some reason when I paired them in this recipe it just didn't work as well.

I do this thing where I want to be hyper accurate when I'm trying to achieve a realistic representation of a recipe, so naturally I looked up what each flavor of the “kids" were. Berry, raspberry, lemon, lime and orange. Easy enough, let's find some candy citruses and berries!

FLV Boysenberry is borderline blue raspberry already. It's dark and sweet and very candylike. 1.25% is all we needed to nudge that base in the right direction. With the addition of a teensy amount of INW Raspberry, which is delicious, sweet and tart, we are getting closer to that realistic handful of sour patch kids. Candy berry and candy raspberry. Check.

CAP Lemon Lime is something I don't use often, and definitely wasn't my first choice, but it worked really well here. It tastes like Sprite. Delicious candy Sprite. It doesn't distract from the profile and brings that candy citrus to the party. Lemon and lime, partners in crime, and two additional pieces of the puzzle that nestle together in just the right way.

INW Lemon Mix helps bolster the lemon note. It also bolsters the sour note. This was a no-brainer after testing multiple batches and adjusting percentages. It's tart and tangy and really helps sell the profile.

CAP Sweet Tangerine is another artificial tasting citrus. I think I'm learning if you want artificial, yet delicious candy flavored fruits, Capella is a good option. This one is no exception. This stuff is extra sweet, tart, and a tad linear like Lemon Lime is, but that's exactly what we want. I wanted blendable and forgiving candy fruit flavors that mesh together. This is the fifth element in our batch of patch. Also the Fifth Element is a great movie if anyone was wondering, top 5 easy.

This is what I'm vaping today. My rendition of Sour Patch Kids. It Bruce Willis stay in my regular rotation for quite some time, and I hope you enjoy it.

Go watch Boyz n the Hood, too. It's another classic 90s movie.

EDIT: I adjusted the percentages after lots of mixers feedback. I like this version better, and I think it's more accurate.

Next order I’m giving this a shot. So far I’ve been let down or failed with my experiments with sour patch goodness.

I mixed it yesterday and tried it this morning and it's definitely a good citrus and berry gummy vape. You elevated wf sour gummy , is it sour? It's very tart which may be all you can hope for with vaping , overall I like it alot and will add it to my favorite candy Vapes. Good job.

I'm going to try a version with FLV Boysenberry 1.5%, INW Raspberry 0.5% and drop the CAP Sweet Tangerine down to 0.75%.

Thoughts?

Why smoke just buy the concentrates, it'll cost you less than a bottle of ejuice. Use an oral syringe for your first batch if you don't want to invest in a scale. DIY is easy peasy.

I have dabbled but never really found a DIY I liked.

Keen to see if this one is good.
