Vanillas for the vanilla blind?
submitted over 6 years ago by yizarion

Hi,

It took me six months of DIY to realize that I am probably almost vanilla blind, basically because I was the only taster of my ejuice until recently. My friends noticed strong vanilla flavors in some of my mixes where I noticed almost none. I made recipes using TPA VBIC (1-6%), CAP Vanilla Custard (v1 and v2) (1-4%) and TPA Vanilla Swirl (1-3%).

  • TPA VBIC - Really overpowers and gives more of the vanilla ice cream texture for me, but almost no vanilla flavor.
  • CAP's custards - I can taste a little bit vanilla with these but the "egginess" or body / texture overpowers it a lot.
  • TPA vanilla swirl - For me it is more creamy than "vanill-ie" and I get no vanilla flavor from it.

So I am looking for other vanilla flavors to try which are "stronger on the vanilla" than creaminess or other off notes that overpower the vanilla for me. Any recommendations for the vanilla blind before I accept my fate?

Thanks (and sorry for not attaching any recipes, I added the percentage ranges I tried of the flavorings above)

DYFS Holy Vanilla & INW Shisha Vanilla are popular ones, not sure if it's what you're looking for but they are damn good flavors.

DFS Holy Vanilla yes indeedy! I could vape that 1-2% solo and be very happy.

I'd second Inw Shisha Vanilla which is well liked by the community, however it's creamy-almost custardy as well. If you just want to test if you can taste plain Vanilla at all, the strongest I've found is FA Vanilla Tahity. I also have problem tasting Vanilla, especially darker/mild vanillas, but I can taste this one. Note that it's sharp-thin, almost fruity, might not be what you are looking for. (Crank it up to %3 or something which will probably make some people dust off their pitchforks)

Uh also I remembered now that Botboy had a vanilla recipe called Vicious Vanilla. It has some cream and spice going but Vanilla is the main profile. It was nice and I remember enjoying it as a vanilla-challenged person, maybe give it a shot.

Hmmm, have you given vanilla bourbon or vanillin a try? They’re both pretty prominent vanillas and can aid in making vanilla dominant mixes shine.

Not yet, adding to my next order.

I hope I will taste something and not stuck with 6 different vanillas that I can't hehe

I can speak for vanillin. It amps up vanilla pretty well along with some supporting vanillas like custard or vanilla swirl. I hope it turns out well for you. Vanilla bourbon is a very warm and almost smoky kind of vanilla. It should help out a lot as well.

Two flavors I would recommend would be FLV Smooth Vanilla, VERY Potent use .15-.3%

Or try adding FLV Vanilla Bean to enhance any other vanilla note you are going for without adding any additional dairy/cream notes

Some people can't do TFA VBIC< myself included. It has a peppery note for me personally. I don't get a ton of vanilla from CAP VC either, it's mainly eggy and buttery to me and I don't like it. TFA Vanilla swirl isn't super heavy on a vanilla note either. I think you just picked some weak or poor vanillas. I agree with staybert in trying INW Shisha Vanilla. It's easier to find than Flavor Shack and easier to work with IMO.

Although the ones I used are not strong on the vanilla side, when I ask people what they taste the first answer would be vanilla. I know that there is a vanilla flavoring in my mixes, I just taste nothing but texture to imply that. I will know for sure after I will try more, thanks.
