Scale options
submitted over 6 years ago by jmh1503

Hi Reddit.

Inquiring - I know the LB-501 is the best and most accurate .01g scale in the 500G total mark.

I am looking for a scale anywhere from 1200-1500G to make full liter batches that supports in .01 gram for precision. Does anyone already own one, or have any true recommendations? Can't stand the hassle of spending the $2-300 and then having to return and blah blah. Thanks

when you're mixing that much i'm not sure that double digit precision is strictly necesary. mixing 100 mils, sure - then .01 is kind of nice. But - if you're mixing 1000 then .1 is pretty much the same thing. it's still just 1.10000th of what you're mixing either way.

I make 800ml batches (because that's about the size of the condiment bottle I dispense from) and I find that hyper accuracy regarding vg isn't really necessary to me. I weigh flavors, nic and pg and then top up to the mark I made on the dispenser bottle. Seems to work out fine.

I got the LEADZM HZ3002C a few years ago when it was on sale for ~40$. I couldn't find another scale with the following options for less than 200$, and I did a fair bit of googling. Ebay has them for 43$ right now

3000g limit

.01g accuracy

Battery / power cord options

No auto-shutoff

The cost of the device will outweigh the benefit of using it. See my cost comparison chart for scale

I have made 1000ml or 1 liter batches on my LB-501 a few times. It measures up to 500g but when you Tare out the last weight it is up to 500g again. When it comes to the VG which will measure over 500g just measure twice, if it is 945g then measure 445g, Tare that weight and measure 500g and done.

Get a scale that can do Percentage weighting if you can afford it.

Get two scales. I do the same when making my 60ml bottles. I weigh the flavors on a small, milligram jeweler's scale that cost $15 and then do the PG / VG on a larger one that can handle more weight. If you are doing a liter, even a cheap kitchen scale would probably be an acceptable margin of error for the VG.

isnt just better to do it by volume with syringes? they are cheap, you can clean them and you can but them in the sice you want... you want 1ml syringes? 20cts a pop at the pharmacy

No, he wants to mix up to 1.5L of juice. That would take forever using 1ml syringes. Even with smaller batches of 30ml using a scale is the easier, faster, cleaner, and more accurate option
