Is it a good idea to use salts nicotine instead of freebase nic for a regular freebase juice?
submitted over 6 years ago by jcabia

I've been using purnic (from nicriv) at 50pg/50vg and it's a bit too harsh specislly after a few days so I was considering switching to salts nicotine instead or maybe 50% salts and 50% freebase to make regular freebase juice at 70/30 but wanted to know if any of you have experience doing that. I heard from a coworker that a lot of liquid brands are switching to salts nic for their freebase juice but that could be BS

I find the salts are just a lot less harsh in general, you can still vape the same quantity/strength, just won't feel like you've been stabbed in the back of the throat with a rusty spoon.

I'm just looking to find where I can buy a decent size bottle of nic salt in the UK... it seems to be hard to come by. 250ml is all I want, can I find it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not in the EU. Liquids/Base with Nicotine cant be more than 10ml. Here you can buy shots of 10ml with 20mg max.

Anyone needing more than 20mg is screwed.

U.K. mate took about 2 days to get to me good quality pretty smooth and that’s the normal base nicotine can tailor the vg/pg ratio as well

If your nicotine is harsh then you have way too much in your juice. The only thing that gives me a sore throat is if I put too much flavor in my juice (I use very little flavor).

It depends on the person too. I find that anything over 18mg of freebase overly harsh, plus it has an unpleasant metallic flavour that messes up the flavour of most juices. It's not an issue with salt nic.

Very true. I find that even a 6mg in freebase is harsh on me, but a salt nic I'm quite happy with 6mg. I usually vape at 3mg but salts are just so much smoother.

Rigth now i am asking myself" why the fuck am i switching between frebase to salt and from salt to freebase on my vandyvape mtl 1.5?"

I am getting the same kick and satisfaction but the freebase is 6mg and the salt is 30mg of nic.

I actually do not need all that nic.

But then what will there be to keep you addicted?

The more I see vapers saying they want to get on the salts so they can crank the nic up, the more I feel like the tobacconists' R&D money is evolving vapes into the new cash cow...

Y'all do you, but I'm staying "old school" with my 1.5nic homebrew, without the benzoic acid...

I got it just to have a go...i do not think much of it.

But really, salt is in the long run going to fuck up vaping.

Nothing wrong with benzoic acid 🙂

You definitely don't need all that nicotine... I vape 1 mg/ml on a sub tank. 4 years ago I was a two-pack-a-day smoker for 15 years.

4 years ago i was a 2 pack for 30+ years ;) 1mg is to liw for me ....6 or 12 is my body req. No, do not usually vape salt, some time ago i got myself some to see what the whole fuss was and is about. Dis not thought of it much and recently bougth one bottle and now i want to get rid off.

Now i think that thw whole salt thing is on target of making more addicts.

There is absolutely no need for hig nic lvl.

It's no more addictive than freebase. It's still just nicotine. It's not the nic salts fault people want to crank up the concentration.

You can't just say there's no need for high nic ever. Some folks need more nicotine than others.

I've been making my own juice for a couple years, I vape 1mg/ml nic, 90vg/10pg (before flavor) on a tfv8 tank at 42.5 watts.

I don't know why you guys are putting so much nicotine in your juice.

3 and 6 is so much nicotine?

You need a lot more nic if you're vaping MTL. I use 18mg freebase, but 50mg salt nic.

I started off at 18 mg on mouth too long then drop down to 12 and then when I went to a sub ohm tank I went from 6 to 1 pretty quickly.

I use a 36mg salt nic shot 10ml to make my shortfill 6mg. I can't deal with freebase, even 3mg freebase makes me feel like I'm being grated at the back of the throat.

Yep, I do it all the time.

I vape 3 mg of salt nicotine and 3 mg of freebase nicotine, 70 VG / 30 PG all the time. I use 6 and 6 for MTL. When I have to use only salt nicotine for pods I don't enjoy it as much.

I use Nic River's "smooth" salts at around 3mg (mainly MTL) and enjoy the hell out of them. They were good even when I was higher on the nic.

I have been slowly lowering my nic down, and after a while the 3mg of nic MTL was just as good as the higher nic level due to nic tolerance. I still put some 3mg nic salt in a sub-ohm tank for when I need a quick nic fix though.

I also use max VG mainly on my RBA's, and probably at most 80vg/20pg for my Breeze 2. Flavor is still great.

I have been using only salt nic for just over a year now. I vape 3 or 6 in my rda's (dead rabbit) and 12/18 in my nord. I hate the throat hit I get from some old juice from stores at 3mg. I DIY my own juice using the salt nic and love it, no throat hit, all flavor.

It's not a BAD idea at all - some people prefer how salt nic affects them vs regular nic. But where i am at least salts are more expensive and i don't find the results all that much different.

It will make more of a difference if you like stronger nic in your regular DL setups - it does take the harshness out at higher nic levels.

I mix both. I like a 6mg freebase throat hit and top it up with 3mg/ml salt

It's not a good idea but not a bad one either. It's a preference.

Personally I prefer not introducing yet another unknown into my juice, and I like the hit from freebase, but also nic quality can differ a lot. Sure your nicotine is good?

I got purnic from nic river. Not sure how good is it considered

I don't know much about DIY. But what i can tell you 3mg of freebase is far too harsh for me to vape so I've been using strictly 3mg nic salt liquids. Same effect that I get from freebase but doesn't hurt my lungs.
