Flavours that don't require steeping?
submitted over 6 years ago by SarahD87

I've decided to quit smoking, switch to vaping, and make my own eliquid because of the huge cost savings and health benefits.

I'll be buying the equipment and my vape next week and would like to start vaping straight away when I receive it. I'm planning to buy 6 Flavours, 4 of them to make one of the simpler versions of the Strawberry and Cream flavour I saw on a video by New Amsterdam Vape, a Kiwi flavour (because it sounds delicious) and a Tobacco flavour to hopefully help me adjust to vaping.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good flavour I can mix and then vape straight away, without requiring any steeping?

Thanks for any advice!

I'm going to swim against the stream here, & recommend that if you've literally never vaped before in your life, that you not start out by mixing your own juices, & instead start off with a few commercial juices, so you can get used to vaping in general before you add the complexities that go with doing your own mixing.

Edit: That said, if you are absolutely determined to dive right into mixing, the people advising you to start with fruit flavours are right; because they are by far the easiest to work with.

Thanks for the advise. I've watched some videos though and it doesn't look too complicated. Just mixing ingredients in the correct quantities (I'll be using the weight method). The only thing I'm quite unsure of is flavours I'll enjoy, what % of flavouring to use (I've seen recommendations of anything from a couple % to up to 20%), and steeping (But I'll likely just try the liquid every few days until I'm pleased with the taste)

Fair enough. I will say that if you find that the juices you're making aren't doing the trick for you, & you're tempted to smoke again, please do try a few commercial juices first before you give up on vaping. :)

This!

It took me few weeks to get used to DIY ejuice (in terms of favorite profiles, sweetness, flavoring percentage and harshness).

Commercial ejuice tends to be sweeter and more "intense".

OP, you can go straight DIY, but I'd suggest to mix some commercial styled recipes as backup.

First things first...congrats or deciding to quit smoking. You can generally vape lemonade with no steep time. Lemonade + fruit is a classic SnV(shake and vape). You can also shake n vape the Ice Cream Trinity. You have a lot of options, what do you like?

Fruits are generally good "shake n vape". Custards and creams need to steep. Check your flavor concentrates for ethyl alcohol (used in the extraction process): we're talking about traces, but enough to need to let a juice breathe overnight to let the alcohol escape and evaporate.

Ive gotten into the habit of opening those bottles and letting them sit open for a couple of days.

I found a lemon and lime flavour that I'll give a try as shake and vape. People have recommended lemonade flavour which I couldn't find on the site I'm buying from, so Lemon and Lime will probably be similar. I've also soon a fruity bubblegum flavour so I'll try that as shake and vape too.

These are all good single flavors right away:

HS- Red Energy @ 5%....Decent Red Bull FW- Grape @ 4%....Candy Artificial Grape FA- Dark Bean @ .5%....Bottom of the pot 2 hr old coffee WS-23 @ > 1%....Just cold refreshing

These are good with an overnight steep:

Prickly Victory: Cap- Sweet Guava @ 4% Inw- Cactus @ 1%

Generic Apple Juice: Inw- two apples @ 5% or FA- Fugi Apple @ 3% WS-23 @ .75%

That's my "oh shit I don't have anything for tomorrow" list

Couldn't find a lot of them on the site I'm using, but I did find an energy drink flavour I'll give a try on its own.

I'm pretty late posting, but I'd also suggest that you search on good single flavours recipes. Most fruits and drinks (eg apple, energy drink) will be fine to vape a day or so after mixing and will be enough to get going. Just avoid tobacco, creamy and bakery type recipes if you need something straight away.

In six years I've never encountered anything that "required" steeping. If it's so bad that you can't vape it right now, you probably never will be able to.

That said, of course it probably makes plenty of sense that when a mix has multiple ingredients (mainly and especially additives like sweeteners, sours, etc) that you might want to let them sit for a little while and/or shake regularly.

I've seen people use some pretty interesting solutions for shaking a batch with a machine. If I had access to something like that I would use it personally. All these years what I've basically done is smash the bottle into my palm or stick it in a towel and slap it against a pillow and then vape it. ;)

I came here to say this. The differences I detect between fresh and steeped e-liquid are so nominal that I never intentionally "steep" anything.

This is so crazy to me. I almost exclusively vape bakeries / creams / custards and the thought of not steeping those gives me anxiety.

Have you tried them just after a vigorous shake but without steeping?

Fruits usually don't need a steep , a good lemonade is better fresh most of the time.

Your creams and tobacco. Will need to steep around 2 weeks , of course if you like creams or tobacco's not steeped that long , vape away.

I’m using flavor West, I have before and just about everyone I tried(like 6 the first time and 3 this time) were decent right off of a shake, I actually just posted a gush about my surprise over two of them, the glazed doughnut and cake batter dip, I did mention the cake batter dip has a powdery chemical taste that has faded slightly but it’s not around long enough to properly steep (30ml, small batches) and so far even if I have some store bought stuff on hand I’m vaping that if I have some mixed, and the glazed doughnut just now I hit properly steep and am so impressed if you didn’t know the difference you could pass that for a production quality juice and it only took like 1.5 to 2 days to mature properly

I mix all mine single flavor I just shop that way because I’ve found doing it this way you don’t really need a while lot of measuring equipment other than a dropper, but I’m keeping it super simple and was just surprised at the quality that can be achieved with such rudimentary equipment.

Some flavors not properly steeped may taste chemically or less like the concentrate than they should but they should definitely be tolerable no matter what you order, they’ll just get better as they age

If you insist on tobacco, just get FLV Red Burley. Mix it at 1.5% and it's good SnV. Otherwise, you don't really want to get into tobaccos, many require steeping. For a simple two-ingredient mix, INW Grapes @3% plus some cooling. WS-23 and FA Polar Blast in combination are the best choice for cooling, but either one alone can work in a pinch.

TFA Western at 2% has been my all day vape for 6 months. If you're moving from smoking, you may want to increase the flavor percentage a tad, but I find this to be fine right after mixing and good after just a couple of days.

Lemon and lime flavors tend to be pretty damn good after just sitting overnight sometimes they need a day or two to not be harsh though

I feel like alot of people feel steeping is more important than agitation. I would argue its often just as important and that many dont realize this. Shake a bottle untill it is saturated with bubbles, sit for 15 mins depending on viscosity and repeat about 4 times daily over the course of 3 days and most juice will be quite ahead of the rest.

start with fruits.

>tfa dragonfruit

>capella mango

>inw fruits

>Inw Cactus Awesome additive for any fruit.

That strawberry cream recipe by New Amsterdam vape isn't good. It was one of my first mixes. Get the stuff needed for Sweet Strawberry Cream by /u/CheebaSteeba The new Amsterdam version is pretty stale. It just didn't taste that good.
