So first time making DIY and i was wondering, why do people buy 1 liter vg and 1 liter pg then mix it to 70/30 when you can buy 1 liter 70/30 premade? Im a noob to DIY so don't roast me 😂
I used to do exactly like you, however as many others mentioned a premade 70/30 will not account for flavoring, so the end result will not be 70/30. Also as mentioned flavorings are suspended in PG 99% of the time (to my knowledge). I used to buy one shots and just mix it at 20% so it would be a lot thinner than I would have liked.
Depending on your setup (especially if you rock different kinds of tanks or RDA's) simply buying VG, PG and Nic separately helps a great deal in finding your sweet spot for your style. I usually go for a 70/30-80/20 in my Drop RDA with dual Claptons.
I live in Europe (Denmark) and I actually don't mind that Nic comes in 10ML bottles as I usually only need 5 of them for a month of my personal supply. It costs around 60 DKK (10$ US) for 5, so it's really not that expensive to have the option to customize everything you vape, so I definitely recommend it.

Honestly, it's completely irrelevant to anyone that is not selling and let's be even more honest. Those that do sell and label 70/30 aren't selling 70/30. It's off by a margin just as yours would be if you mixed like you said. ;-)

So really no reason to not use premixed if these are why you don't want to. :-P
20% flavouring and you get 50/50 instead of 70/30 and that's a huge difference, also the more vg you have the thicker your clouds so it's important for cloud chasing so if you want max vg it's the only way
I definitely agree with you!
However he wished to know why people did it, so I am only giving my 2 cents. I am not completely diligent with what I make for myself, so it is not always exactly 70/30 for example, more like 67/33 or i am some odd percentage off. As you say it's off by a margin as I am not a robot; however what I meant by my reply was, that if you are used to a 70/30 and you dump in a one-shot at 10-20% in a 70/30 base you might be disappointed like I was, as I do not like below 70/30 in my everyday setup.
If you are not making stuff for your friends (like I do on occasion), coworkers, or hell even do it professionally, no need to go through all the fuss. If buying pre-made bases seems like good value for you, and you believe it makes it easier for you to continue to enjoy vaping, then by all means go for it! :)
I do quite enjoy tinkering with it, and I like the control (or false sense of control depending on your point of view), that it gives me over what I create in regards to ratio. I started doing this because I vape beyond a point where buying premium one-shots (which I enjoy a lot) simply isn't feasible for me as a student. Personally it has made things so much more easy and fun (not always so, though).
I buy them separately because sometimes I switch up my ratios for whatever I need. If I’m cloud chasing for the day, I’ll use my Max VG juices. If I’m looking for better flavor I’ll rock with 70/30. If I’m mixing for my Rolo Badge, I’ll mix 60/40 or 50/50. Just all depends on the situation and preference.
Well for starters buying premade forces you to use only 1 vg/pg ratio unless you add more flavoring or nicotine.
Also, as most flavorings and nicotine are suspended in pg (you can get nicotine in vg but it’s a bitch to work with) your final ratio will not be 70/30.
Also, it’s typically cheaper to just buy pg/vg separately.
It's all preference. I buy salts in 50:50 so the final product is 55:45 after flavoring. For freebase nic I buy it suspended in VG and also buy a bottle of VG and PG so I can do whatever I please. Salt vapes don't allow for as much play. I end up selling it all eventually so idgaf cus it will get used.
Buying 70/30 premix does not take into account the PG in your flavorings and nic. If you were dead set on having an actual 70/30 mix, you would have to add pure VG at the end to get your ratio back to what it supposed to be.
Quoting myself from another reply.

- price (it's cheaper to mix than buy premix)
- consistency (recipes with different total flavor percentages will have different VG ratios if you only use premix)
- control (I vary the VG content in my juice, but make up the difference with either PDO or PEG400 so my throat doesn't get violated like a pedo staying in gen pop.)
