Week VIt's Thursday again. Which means we have this opportunity to make mention of any remarkable single-flavor concentrate that we had tried. Could be remarkable in a good or bad sense. Not really looking for reviews, just your take on them and how much you might've enjoyed them. Did any tickle your tasty buds? Or maybe something made you make a face?? :)

TFA's RY4 Double - Good
Just good. Good enough to vape. Good enough to mix again and vape. It's got a nice, unique taste. The only comparison I can make is to VapeWild's RY4Life; but VW's sauce has more tobacco flavoring. So can say the tobacco is more of an accent than a base. Is that what some might call their ingredients in "equal measure"?
EDIT 190419: It's really growing on me... upgrade to pretty good, based upon being a unique taste.
Also, how important is it to you to have a "base" flavor or "keynote" ingredient??

FOOTNOTE: I realize that just saying good, fair, great, bad, horrible and other subjective descriptors are just that... very subjective. It's hard sometimes to call something good if you think it's lacking somehow. Or to base that upon if you'd use it again. But not really wanting to know how great something is on a scale of 1 to 100 since everyone's idea is going to differ on how palatable something is.
Most recently 29 lemons. I've taken a break from testing after that.
The two I really really liked were VT Sour Lemon and Health Cabin Lemon. HC Lemon is a pretty bright sweet candy lemon. VT Sour Lemon is sweet and tart with a touch of zest and lingers on your tongue a lot.
FYI, if you haven't yet, grab Jungle Flavors RY4 Double. Much better.
Vape Train’s French Vanilla Ice Cream. It’s a generic, straightforward vanilla (kinda like the vanilla in LB’s Vanilla Ice Cream), and it’s pretty creamy. There’s a bit of a tang to it which reminds me of root beer. I guess a sassafras note? I’ve read that other people find it eggy, and while I don’t disagree, I don’t find it similar to the egginess of CAP Vanilla Custard. Overall, I’m liking it.
Nice - what % do you run it at? Can you compare it to HS FVIC?
I’ve been using it at 3% and getting really nice flavor. I could see it working a bit higher, but I just haven’t gone there yet.
Unfortunately, I have yet to try Hangsen’s, so I can’t make that comparison. Sounds like I need to try some, though, based on recent recipes.
CAP sweet guava. Here is what Wayne from DIYorDIE wrote “CAP’s Sweet Guava which to me, is the perfect blend between fruit and candy. It’s tropical nature adds so much vibrancy to any recipe. If you love sweet fruits, this is your jam.
SOLO: 5 - 7% // MIXED: 1 - 5%”
I am using it 8% solo with .5% sweetener. My go to solo fruit, all day everyday till vaper’s tounge hit me in the face.
The horror that is FA Blackberry. One of the first things I mixed, and no matter how long it steeped, never lost that "floral soap" flavor. Taught me to mix smaller batches when I'm not sure about something, and that some flavors either aren't intended to be vaped solo, or vaped at all.
Think it'd be less soapy if you went with a lower percentage? And floral isn't always a bad thing, is it? I used to drink jasmine tea.... so maybe your blackberry will work with green and/or black tea bases. Assuming you'd want to go that route.
> And floral isn't always a bad thing, is it?
I don't think so. I used to vape 4% FA-Fuji + 3% INW-Raspberry. The raspberry got weird but I loved it. I'd also tossed in some sweetener and went to town on that stuff. 99% of the people that mix are obsessed with everything tasting "Authentic" or "Real". Not me though, I am down with the funky stuff.
Oh yes, absolutely. Tenths of a percent, some have even diluted it further, and apparently, when you go that low, it's pretty good. This was just a mistake I made when I first got started, and it was so notably unvapeable that I can still almost taste it.
CAP Harvest Berry. Bought on a recommendation from somewhere (most likely this sub) that it's supposedly a nice single flavour. Well, not for me! I struggle to finish 50ml.
I can see it as a base for a cola/cherry coke styled juice though, but tbh I doubt I'll ever use it again.
Fa Joker.
At 5% it's pleasant. Like a toasted cannoli shell, touch (like tiny smidge) of cinnamon. Not to sweet, not too plain. Throat hit quite mild. If you have it, it tastes just like it smells.
Going to 10% on it doesn't seem to intensify the flavor, just the throat hit. Makes 3mg feel like rough 6mg or even a little higher. Kinda scratchy on the throat.
Going to mix the 2 together today & see what it's like around 7.5% Will update if there's any significant change. But seems going higher just gets harsher. Current preferred single flavor mix would have to be 5% for me.
Going to be fun to fill it! Doesn't feel like your typical one-shot.
Edit 4.12.19: @ 7.5% still a bit more harsh on the throat than I'd like\recommend.
Could see using a little Bavarian cream to start filling it, or just filling it with that. Seems to just be a cannoli-ish shell. Could see it being versatile in several bakery recipes. Recommend topping out in mix @5 for featured, a bit less for more of a slightly spiced shell\crust\cookie enhancer.
WF Peach Gummy Candy at 3.5% - 4% to me is almost exactly what it says it is. Don't expect anything spectacular. It's not the best peach I've ever tasted, and also a bit dry. Haven't had a chance to play around with it in recipes, so not sure if it can be improved by adding stuff to it, but the solo tests were a really nice surprise after a couple of weeks.
RFSC Strawberry Lemonade 2.5%. Can’t say I like it, but it has potential. It’s that typical dry, thin, top heavy Real Flavors Super Concentrates thing where 3/4 of your exhale is just almost flavorless sweetness, but that bit of flavor upfront is solidly Strawberry Lemonade so I could see this working in that or a variety of fruity lemonades or even as part of the frosting on a pasty. I’d vape a strawberry cupcake with strawberry lemon icing!
OoO Girly Cookies (Lemonade) 2.5%. Gross. It tastes like a fried ball of cookie dough dunked in a lemon scented cleaning product.
Today I tried WF Papaya, and Vanilla Ice Cream. Both are above average. The Papaya is really nice and fruity. It's better tasting than all the others Ive tried. Vanilla Ice Cream, what can I say.. There are so many Vanilla Ice Creams and this one is worthy enough to be used. It's got a really nice creamy flavor and towards the back end it tastes like real ice cream. I really suck at describing flavors but thought I'd share.
TFA Apple- It smells a lot stronger than it tastes. I tried it at 6% and it's a bit thin. Nice light apple flavor though.
.
TFA Quince- awesome combination of apple and pear I think. It's almost like sweet juicy fruit gum. This was a nice surprise. I intend to try it in fruit blends to add some mystery.
What percent for ry4 double? I've not mixed it as a single yet.
