"Sliced summer" — Is Pink Guava a good idea?
submitted over 6 years ago by Vincent53212Frugivore

I have a recipe that I've worked on for a while, it's already quite good but I'd like to try to add some Pink Guava (FLV) to it. It's basically a watermelon and honeydew core with Fuji apple as sidekick, all warped in dragonfruit. I heard that Pink Guava have a sort of grapefruit taste ; if it give to my mix a lil' bit of acidity, slight citrus notes, I'd be happy. Is it a good idea to buy the flavor and try? Any suggestions?

Watermelon (LA) : 4% Wild Melon (FLV) : 1.8% Fuji Apple (FA) : 2% Dragonfruit (TPA) : 2.5% Sweetener (Rick) : 0.5% ? Pink Guava (FLV) : 0.5%

But start at a low %, and work up. Stuff's powerful.

Idk, I started wondering about that too last night, after adding more in my mix.

Kinda like when you get in a sports car and get curious about what the top end is like

It is pleasant to me, but what I taste is straight up grapefruit..

You are right on with the starting percent.

I read that many people on ELR taste some Concorde grapes in it. That's interesting, I have hope for a good mix with the honeydew notes in Wild Melon (FLV).

I get mostly passion fruit ish flavor, grapefruit aroma, and I can totally see someone pulling a touch of concord grape out of it.

Actually, now I want to try it with grape.

I don't get any grape from Pink Guava. I get a funky grapefruit

So, do you think I should try it with that recipe?

Honestly, I'd like 0.25-0.5 INW Cactus to that instead of Pink Guava if you want some acidity, hell, even 0.1% would work, haha. But on the other side I only tried single flavor Pink Guava from my friend, I don't have it yet on my own

Pink Guava has a really intense flavor profile. Quite similar to INW cactus in some ways actually. If it was made by INW and called «Pink Cactus» i wouldn’t have been surprised by the flavor at all.

It’s worth getting, and might do interesting things to your recipe, but probably not what you’re describing.
