One of the largest aroma producers in Germany here (dampflion) has an aroma with ginger mixed into it, and it has a really nice spicy ginger flavor to it almost as if you were drinking ginger tea. I’m looking for a good standalone ginger flavor, would greatly appreciate any recommendations or experiences if there are any!!
And these reviews:
Are a good start. Along with whatever recommendations people might come up with.
Thank you so much!!! Very much appreciated! ❤️
No problem.
If you think of other flavors you want to know more about there are more than a thousand reviews in the flavor review wiki and tons of discussion on flavors/profiles in the Flavor of the Week archives.
I've been playing with FLV Ginger at around 0.5% in a Djarum recipe that I am continuing to toy with. It has some spice, but not the real heat that ginger imparts. I would see if you pushed it to 1% to 2%, it could start giving you a bit more kick, but not sure if it will get to the point that you are looking for, heat-wise/spiciness-wise. Nice, on the ginger tea reference, by the way. Have some in the pantry, and am going to mix up a cup as soon as I am off work.
Maybe .25% (or less) of FLV Heat could help? A little FLV Wood Spice might help with the earthy heat ginger has. That stuff is like the manliest of colognes though, so definitely go easy.
Excellent suggestion! One of my local shops carries some FLV, and I will check with them if they have Heat. Didn't think about it sooner, or I would have included it on my flavor order this week. Have Wood Spice, and the best way I could describe it would be if someone put Bruce Campbell in a bottle after cutting sandalwood trees all day. Will definitely give that a try, too.
Djarum recipe? 😍 care to share when you finish it?
As soon as I have something that I like, I definitely will! Right now, I am experimenting with NETs for the tobacco. Moving from FLV Clove to TFA Clove, and have some TFA Absinthe en route. FLV Ginger does play nice in what I have used it for so far, and will likely be a part of the final mix. Fingers crossed, something that I put up to steep this weekend will by share-worthy in a week, or so.
Have you tried the PF ginger? Theres always a chance theyd stick with a German flavoring company...
