From Wiki: Olfactory fatigue, also known as odor fatigue, olfactory adaptation, and noseblindness, is the temporary, normal inability to distinguish a particular odor after a prolonged exposure to that airborne compound.[1] For example, when entering a restaurant initially the odor of food is often perceived as being very strong, but after time the awareness of the odor normally fades to the point where the smell is not perceptible or is much weaker. After leaving the area of high odor, the sensitivity is restored with time. Anosmia is the permanent loss of the sense of smell, and is different from olfactory fatigue.
I thought for a long time it was vapers tongue (or vapors fatique) but after taking a break from both vanilla and strawberry flavors for 1 year + i still can't taste it. Especially TPAs strawberry flavors and cheesecake graham crust, which sucks cause they are my favorites.
not sure what is going on. Some people swear that it is from vapors tongue, i disagree though.
Try eating a bit of fresh ginger, then drink a big glass of water and try again. Works wonders for me when I can't taste my juice.
I have it also to some degree and with strawberry flavors ...some concentrates have no flavor at all to me. 25 yrs of cigs left some damage.
I smoked for about that long as well. I don't taste vanilla really that well either. I can taste strawberry. But like strawberry and vanilla the strawberry just tastes different to me together. I love CAP Vanilla Custard. But I don't taste a strong vanilla. I don't get pepper either though like with TFA VBIC. Also smoking a shit ton of weed couldn't have helped either I reckon as well. Combustion is combustion. Speaking of weed, I can taste real vanilla ice cream fine.
I think I’m right there w ya... instead of a lot of recipes made incorrectly, I’m now thinking it’s damage likely done 🤦🏼♀️. I’ll do more more to confirm this because I’m just having this epiphany, lol. I smoked even longer than you and luckily my smelling has improved, but when you’ve smoked as long as you can remember it’s hard to know how much better you taste and smell sometimes without something to remember to compare it to maybe. A little sad but true and I’m just thankful that I’m not smoking cigs anymore and the rest is gravy. And I’m extremely thankful for everything I learn via this sub and subject
I think you can become blind to a lot of flavors, I can’t seem to taste Vanilla, Strawberry or Raspberry at all with my liquids. Best I can get out of vanilla is a very weird dairy note, strawberry if I use Shisha and FA I get a sort of red taste and raspberry tastes like unflavored juice to me. Try to find alternatives, it’s hard but so worth it.
The thing is.. At least for me. Vanilla as a flavor always has been a below average flavor. On everything. I never said that was an amazing vanilla flavor once.
If it is a real thing.... I'm totally pissed off that I'm cursed with the ability to taste both vanilla and strawberry.
