FW Vanilla Bean Ice Cream > TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
submitted over 6 years ago by heimsins_konungr

For those like me who taste pepper or excessive vanilla extract in TFA VBIC, FW VBIC is the king. In every way.

I've subbed it at the same ratio in recipes like Longing and Dreamsicle and it is so much smoother, ZERO pepper taste, the perfect amount of vanilla and creaminess, it just melts in your mouth like it should.

Another plus: TFA VBIC contains Acetyl Propionyl while FW VBIC contains Acetoin.

AP has been shown to cause lung fibrosis in rats at just 200 PPM (link to study) while Acetoin has no noticeable negative effects even at 3000 PPM in rats (link to study, scroll to animal toxicity studies).

I think LB Vanilla Ice Cream would like a word, as the one true king.

I think it has to do with what type of ice cream people prefer. If your favorite ice cream is really more of a frozen custard and has eggs as one of the top four or five ingredients, LB Vanilla Ice Cream. If your favorite ice cream is light, airy, milky, and more of a frozen whipped cream, FW Vanilla Bean Ice Cream is probably more what you’re looking for. They’re both great flavors. I wish LB was a little less buttery (it’s a bit like slightly overchurned frozen custard) and FW was a little more dense and rich, but at least neither of them taste like pepper to half the people who try to vape them.

Shush, you went and added nuance to my vague but appealing claim. ;)

Jokes— that’s actually quite the insight there, and helps me mentally frame the other aspirant to the throne, which I haven’t tasted.

I've been getting pepper lately from it... And I wasn't a pepper taster in the past.

Wow. That’s unfortunate and very surprising to me, as that flavor is a smooth as butter compared to all the other vanilla ice creams for me. But I’ve never suffered much from the pepper tasting, except when it comes to nic.

I've given up on TFA altogether.

I wouldn't give up entirely.

  • Dragonfruit is a staple.
  • Bavarian Cream, wonderful.
  • Koolada, staple.
  • Marshmallow, staple.
  • Honeydew, fantastic.
  • Honeysuckle, just right.

But as time has gone on, greater alternatives have begun to spring from INW, FLV, WF, JF, LA, and the list is getting bigger.

I figured it was a given. That's like the first flavor you should buy.

Ya hopefully you’ve only given up on tfa ice cream and not all tfa flavors as has been pointed out there are sooo many necessary and few that don’t have their use somewhere. Each manufacturer has flavor we like more than others but most are still all useful. If you’re worried about certain ingredients then by all means shop for those that contain what you prefer but the warnings are not necessary here we’re well aware of the ingredients and the potential risks or not. This sub is about recipes and making juice not about if we should use one manufacturer or the other, that’s not fair to that manufacturer to say negative things about their products, that make sense? I’m sure there’s a place for that discussion, maybe deeper diy ejuice....? Idk .....;). I feel like I didn’t say this the way I wanted and I’m gonna hear all about it 😂😩 oh well, what’s new right? And even though I answered your comment fjhus16, the majority of my post was for OP.

I understand you, but I have about 5-6 recipes I use regularly and none of them use TFA anymore because other brands are just better for my recipes.
