Like the title says, mixed for over a year and my flavors are extremely muted. I use nude nicotine nic, mostly hangsen flavors and generic pg vg. My favorite flavors are ry4. I'll mix 10% ry4 5% caramel with 6mg nic. 50/50 pg vg. Shake it very well. Let it steep for a month with shaking every week. Go and taste it and barely any flavor. Try my buddies store bought juice and it has an explosion of flavor. Not sure if it helps but I MTL, Nautilus 2 with Tesla wye 85 set up. Wattage around 20 on. 7ohm atomizer.
What am I missing? What could I be doing wrong? Am I missing a key ingredient or step?
Thanks in advance..
Edit: Thank you all very much for the advice. I am going to go on a shopping spree to get the suggested tanks and flavorings of recipes. I really needed this and it gave me a spark to keep trying. Thanks again.
Hangsen flavors are pretty weak in general. You're not going to get a huge amount of flavor from a Nautilus 2 - try a rebuildable, something like the vapefly galaxies. If you like RY4's, try this recipe, it has tons of flavor.
Or if you (OP) don't want to rebuild, try a Zenith tank (the Kroma-a kit is good). Use the 0.8 coils. That will net you more flavour than the Nauti2. Don't forget mate - store bought juice has LOTS of added sweetener. To avoid the possibility of flavour fatigue, try vaping flavourless for a week.
Im thinking its a combo of the aromas you use, your tank situation, and the very high resistance/low output combo.

This is my all day vape/go to-recipe for RY4, i usually like to add minute amounts of other good stuff (sometimes CAP sugar cookie, INW Biscuit, TPA Hazelnut etc.) to make a even broader flavour total;

(Shout out to Stafylidis Vladimiros who made the original recipe, he is awesome)
You should try Goofys juice from that site. It adds hazelnut, peanut butter and cheesecake crust. Sounds right up your alley.
Why not just increase your percentages if you need a tank recommend,I’m a fan of the Joytech Cubis Pro 4ml, also I just got a Smok Nord (cheap $27) the Nord has more flavor and is pretty discrete, it’s my only mod with a built in battery and it’s great

Nord is a great pod device. The mesh coils have really decent flavor compared to the other pods I've tried. The 1.4Ω coils are alright too. My first one burnt out in less than 30ml. The mesh coils seem to last longer and taste better IMO.
Currently on my first 1.4 coil, today will be a week. I’m really impressed, I’ve filled it at least 6 times so far.
Most premium juices you buy are loaded with sweetener. That's why you get that sugary taste on your tongue and lips. Try adding some sweetener to your recipes. I've heard good things about Capella's super sweet. I just use sucralose from flavor west and it works too. You don't need a lot, a little goes along way with the stuff. It's best around 0.50 - 0.75%
My thoughts would be to check some online recipes and don't over flavor. If you add too much flavor that in itself will mute the taste. A little goes a long way. Also keep it simple at first and never give up! I think that watching some how to videos would benefit.
I like the TFA double ry4. Ry4 is subtle to begin with. I'd also add a drop of EM per 10ml for body, and I always added TFA tobacco wizard?? to my tobaccos. That might not be the right name, but it was something wizard and not the bitter one.
Same here, i kind of gave up. I wish i would find at least ONE recipe with the same flavor as premium e-liquids!
Everyone gives suggestions, and there are thousands of recipes online with high rating... but when you try them, same result: smells great but the flavor is muted.
>!Then i realized most of people doesn't even notice the difference or what i'm talking about, that's why they can't help, and/or give crappy advices.!<
I honestly don't get this. I vaped store bought shit for ages and was never happy. Anything and everything i mix now is far better for my tastes. I was not a fan of store bought juices. Do you use an RDA? Do you add any citrus to your recipes? Do you have a recipe you're not happy with, but it's almost quite there? We could have a look at it?
Same here, but there are people who just can’t vape stuff without sweetener. My brother is one of them, give him grack juice and he will run away as fast as he can until you add 1% of SuperSweet.
I tried both with RDA (Lush Plus and Bonza), a SMOK TFV8, and also a MERLIN MTL: same result.
...So that cannot be the problem.
I started trying to replicate Mr.Meringue, following all the existing recipes online, i managed to get the exact same scent, but the flavor was always muted. All Chalk's dust and other premium e-liquids have that pastry taste in common, i have no idea what it is.
Then after following thousands of advices like "try INW Bisquit" (as you can see i have asked multiple times in different places) ...i pretty much gave up.
