A personal example I can think of for me is tfa dragonfruit. I absolutely hate it. The smell, the taste, the flavor alone when vaped. But when added in a small amount to a strawberry blend I think it's devine. What are some other flavors you guys personaly think have this quality?
EDIT: Jesus I'm tired. Totally misread the title and posted some well known flavor hacks and less common uses. I don't think many of these are awful on their own, I'm just a very dim man occasionally.

There are a shit ton other than the obvious sweeteners, AP, Coolants, Menthols, and other marked additives.

|FLAVOR:|PERCENTAGE RANGE:|USAGE:| |:-|:-|:-| |INW Cactus|0.25%-0.5%|Juiciness| |FA Pear|0.25-1%|Juiciness| |TPA Honeysuckle|0.25%-0.5%|Juiciness| |FA Lemon Sicily|0.5%-0.75%|Used with citrus to enhance the inherent "zing" of other lemons.| |CAP Vanilla Custard|0.5%-2%|Thickens mouthfeel| |FA Cookie or INW Biscuit|0.25%-1%|Thickens mouthfeel, adds a "snap" texture to bakeries.| |FW Hazelnut or CAP Cereal 27|1%-3%|Adds a grainy texture to tobaccos, cereals, and bakeries. Similar to FA Cookie and INW Biscuit but a little more neutral of a flavor when pushed past 1%| |TFA/FA/CAP Marshmallow|0.5%-1%|Sweetness, Thickens mouthfeel| |CAP Sweet Guava|Under 1%|Juiciness, Sweetness, adds a twang to a mix. Good with tropical fruits as well as watermelons, apples, and white peaches.| |TFA Raspberry (Sweet), TFA Strawberry, TFA Strawberry Ripe|Under 2%|Juiciness, Sweetness, very commonly used with older juices to add a "red" feel to them and exploited for their Maltol content for a built in sweetener.| |TFA Vanilla Swirl (HAIL THE SWIRL)|Under 1%|Adds a "chew" to mixes, especially useful with gummy candy and ice creams.| |TFA Butter or CAP Golden Butter|Maximum 0.3% in 99% of uses|Adds a buttery note to bakeries like cookies. Essential to bread and toast recipes.| |FA Forest Fruit|Under or at 1%|Adds complexity to mixed fruit recipes, especially useful in mixed berry blends. This can come across as a touch dry contrary to the profile.|
And there's a lot more that I can't think of off the top of my head.
I actually really enjoy capella sweet guava as a single flavor vape but I appreciate this list
Oh so do I. Crank it up to 5% and chief away.
EDIT: also I realize I misread the title of your post too. I am very tired and took forever typing that out. That's my list of flavor hacks, not things I think are terrible on their own.
Capella glazed donut. On its own it tastes like Play-Doh... Mix it with cake batter and TFA frosted donut and it has a pretty rich, sweet, cakey taste.
I agree with this. I use capella glazed donut in one of my caramel tobacco ish blends. that, capella sugar cookie, and flavorwest yellow cake.
Not really a fan of tobacco's. I'm working on making a custard donut. The donut base is great, custard needs work... It's a pain waiting for the custard base to steep each time I make a tester...
FLV Lovage. Standalone at nearly any percentage it tastes like wet salad and dirt. When used in the very low additive range (.1-.2%) it adds a glorious moisture to dry tobaccos that's unbelievable. You can use it to soften rough edges, very lightly sweeten, and add moisture to otherwise dry and harsh tobaccos. It also gives you room to push boundaries with total % so you can attain a bolder tobacco blend without dealing with as many side effects.
TFA banana. Tastes like spicy sweet bleach on it's own but comes through when mixed with strawberry or vanilla cream.
every try to make something banana split esque with it?
No, I just tried to make a flavor that was only banana without tasting like chemicals.
nicvape makes a flavor called banana (real)
I used it as a base at 7%, capella banana at 1%, tfa banana cream at 1%, tfa dragonfruit at 0.25%, flavourart mts vape wizard at 2 drops (100ml bottle) and flavorwest sweetener at 0.25%
3mg nic, rest of the bottle vg
tastes pretty fuckin close to eating an actual banana
not exactly sure what the vape wizard does, but I definately used it haha.
LA Cream Cheese Icing. I hate that shit when pushed much over 0.5%. I really can't even stand the smell when I open the bottle. Clothespins anyone? But in the right mix it makes everything pop.
personally I love la cream cheese icing, never tried it by itself though. I use it in like 7 of my mixes
I have issues with quite a few flavors that everyone else loves. I'm kind of sensitive to tangy dairy and cheesecakes. Some of the musty notes that a lot of concentrates have are often overpowering to me too. I'm by no means a super taster. I'm just a little different than your average bear.
Any anise flavor is horrid (because black licorice sucks dirty donkey balls) but a tiny bit in the right mix of tobacco adds something.
INW Shisha Punch: dry spices, clove predominant. great clove/spice flavor though! I want to try this with tobaccos and some dirty ashtray flavors to make clove cigarettes.
FE Oak Milk:too much for me as a single flavor, cloying, but a great caramelly condensed milk note as a part of something else. 10/10 with rice.
TFA Pecan: like drinking pecan pancake syrup. Can't do it straight. But it's sweet and goes well with dairy, baked goods, and berries; versatile and not used constantly.
TFA Dairy Milk: perfect milk. I don't like milk. Easy blender though!
