Recently someone in the Mixlife Facebook group asked me to release some of our discontinued One Shots on Chef's! A very smart person said you guys would probably dig getting your hands on these too! I have a range of them so I'll be releasing them here periodically as we cycle new products through. Hope you enjoy!
Short version Notes:
Berries layer: FA Forest Fruit provides a pretty robust base to start our layer. FA Black Currant provides the currant top notes and "jammies" it up a bit. TPA Raspberry (Sweet) gives us a more tart finish and helps the Black Currant stay on top of the mix. A bit of TPA Strawberry on the end of this beast helps keep it all together and also to assist in keeping the Lemonade from becoming too harsh, because we're going to crank it up a touch to keep the components competitive.
Lemonade: No fancy layers on this side, just a heaping helping of LA Lemonade (Lauren's for those of you ordering from Chefs :D) To help keep the lemonade from feeling to candied we have a pretty large bit of TPA Sour.
Add a splash of WS-23 if you fancy that kind of thing, and enjoy!
- Blackcurrant (Ribes) (FA) 1.50%
- Forest Fruit (Forest Mix) (FA) 2.50%
- Lemonade (LA) 6.50%
- Raspberry, Sweet (TPA) 1.50%
- Sour (TPA) 1.50%
- Strawberry (TPA) 3.00%
This recipe was something typically kind of outside my wheelhouse all things considered. It was really fun to develop though, and I really enjoy this juice overall.
I know you probably mixed this with the best that you thought there was at the time. Are there any new flavors you would use if you were to try and modernize/remix this?
My decisions weren't 100% about what's the absolute best choice as there are some cost and efficiency factors. Were I mixing this for myself I'd have used FLV Lemonade as a second layer, with less LA Lemonade and likely drop the sour. I'd also be interested in a revision with FLV Black Currant. But overall I'm still very happy with the overall recipe. It preformed well for it's lifetime at Chef's, and I believe it's 100% solid the way it is.
Thanks for responding. It's interesting to hear things like this as the ingredients we use evolve. I don't have the FLV black currant yet but Bryson said it should be on its way soon. I can totally understand the price point thing when releasing a recipe for sale.
I was about to mix this up and then remembered I still have some of the oneshot. Guess I get to be lazy!
Interesting, sounds tasty!
If you have any Black Currant left, maybe you could try your hand at a Snakebite flavour.
Oh man, of ever this is developed I'll be all over it. 3 years of my life disappeared because I like to drink snakebite and black. Discovered it in my student days.
It sounds interesting. Currants aren't popular at all in the region I live in. I've never heard of them or the flavor until I started DIY.
Are you serious? I made a recipe last week with this name. Guess I cant release it now😂
