Highlights from last week:
-
/u/AlfredPudding has joined a short and somewhat illustrious list of Recipe of the Year winners. Not only did he acquire some fancy flair next to his name but /u/ID10-T took the opportunity to change his, as well; The Kingmaker is now responsible for nominating 3 of the 5 winners and is bursting with "dorky enthusiasm" over the accomplishment.
-
/u/matthewkocanda posted his 48th front page recipe and finally relented to my pestering by also posting (for posterity) to the Monthly Thread. Perhaps now I'll start pestering him about his post titles...
-
/u/ShittyStrawman updated us on their quest to clone Jam on Toast (original post) with some interesting and exciting developments.
-
/u/Arpeggiator8472 aka SixStrings952 shared her 22nd front page recipe, one that just happens to use a flavor I'm guessing most of us have yet to acquire. If you've got a minute, The Flog Vlog just recently did a mixer review on SixStrings952 that is certainly worth checking out.
-
Like a flavor reviewing machine /u/Leilani_H shared another 7 flavor reviews last week: DF Strawberry Cream, HC Condensed Milk, WF Vanilla Ice Cream & Bumbleberry, NicVape Old Fashioned Donut, VT Sweet Cream, and HL Matcha Cream, bringing her total flavor review count to 69. An impressive feat that is much appreciated!
-
/u/incircles36 shared their design for a 3D Printed DIY E-Liquid Flavor Organizer
-
And finally the newest reviewer on the block /u/demisone shared a couple flavor reviews, one new (TFA Banana Nut Bread) and one re-review (CAP Sweet Tangerine)

Anyone tried INW Shortbread yet?
Do you think commercial brand Eliquid companies steal formulas off ECR and ATF, then rename/sell?
I am newer to mixing so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I have two different sweeteners, TFA Sweetener & CAP Super Sweet. I have only used the TFA so far. So if I was using 5% of the TFA Sweetener in a recipe, what should I use percentage wise with the CAP super sweet? I know the super sweet is stronger but unsure how to substitute it in my current recipes.
That's a lot of sweetener. What are the recipes?
Sorry just double checked and it's 2.5%, read the wrong line. It's a peach yogurt recipe I've been tinkering with.
I'm mixing ID10-T's (am I allowed to tag?) simple sugar cookie recipe - which I loved (https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/10644#simple_sugar_cookie_by_id10_t) but I'm out of CAP sugar cookie, and so are my vendors - not easy to find stuff (it's illegal to comercialize) in my country. Searching here and there, I've found people use to sub Sugar Cookie with INW biscuit, which I have. I don't own a lot of flavors, could this work? Any guess number change if I use biscuit instead?
And also, thanks ID10-T, I'm loving this so much haha. Next time I'll be mixing 1L, no joke.
Biscuit is a bit different and a whole lot more potent. Biscuit is more of a crunchy slightly buttery cookie. Sugar cookie is like a plain soft store bought sugar cookie. You might try Biscuit at about 1% but it's going to taste different for sure.
It won’t be the same but you might be able to mix something good enough with 2% Biscuit to get by for now. Don’t mix a liter of that though, it won’t be as good.
Update, it is pretty damn good with biscuit, there's a difference that I can't tell cause I'm a noob but I'm enjoying a lot. 2% biscuit I would say is spot on, and uses less flavoring which is a huge plus for me - flavorings are too expensive in here.
Obscure most excellent floral flavor....go
The woodruffs! ((woodruff (though an herb) does have flowers, so I'm sneaking it in)). Inawera has one, and I believe a couple of other lines do too.
Woodruff will be so hot this year. I can feel it.
Stop giving away secrets.
(But yes, INW Dark Lager, some woodruff, a few other botainicals, some cooling, and maybe a touch of citrus. In development.)
Most obscure, or most excellent?
Most excellent would be INW (or maybe FLV) Elderflower. Then CAP Hibiscus or TFA Honeysuckle. Then TFA Cherry Blossom. Most obscure, tho? I think SolubArome Genepi.
So I have about 100mls left of CAP Chocolate Glazed Donuts and CAP Glazed Donuts.
These two flavours have been pretty much unused since every DIY'er was posting constantly about BroNuts..
The flavours still smell good - But apart from making Bronuts; can anyone else recommend me a recipe with them in?
For questions like this, you should consult ATF. Take a look at what a quickie search found . . .

Anyone who has used Inawera Mix Mint (my constant jam)--how would you clone it? My attempts at building it from the ground up kind of suck. We all know Inawera discontinues everything, and I don't want to have to build a Mix Mint Bunker and hoard.
If mix mint sells well (ie is used by a commercial juice maker) they're unlikely to discontinue it.
I'd like to ask about Sweeteners.

A question for those with experience and know what they're doing as opposed to myself...

What are the differences between TFA Sweetener and Capella Supersweet? What I mean specifically is, when I use Supersweet, it emulates that store bought juice...literally emulates it.

When I use TFA Sweetener, the effect is not the same. The mix is no sweeter than without, nor does it emulate the store bought juice, it just 'brightens' the mix if that makes sense. Say we are mixing fruits and creams... the fruits will sparkle more, yet the mix doesn't feel sweet.

How would one correctly use TFA sweetener and what is its purpose? When would we use it and how, as say opposed to supersweet.
Both are sucralose.
Main difference is the concentration. Tfa is 5%, while Cap is 20%. So using 1% of Cap is the same as 4% of Tfa.
You should take a look at this -> FOTW - Sweeteners
Has anyone come close to making something like the Naked 100 Sour Sweet? It's one of my favorites.
I've been chasing naked Lava Flow and Green Blast for awhile, in my search Naked seems to use mostly CAP and on occasion FA. Hope this helps in your search
One time, I left my house with zero juice...cuz I’m an idiot. Stopped at a shop and grabbed some Lava Flow.
I actually rather enjoyed it, was a tad too sweet for me but that’s an easy fix.
Anywho I’m pretty certain it’s Cap Golden Pineapple, Cap Sweet Strawberry and I think FA Coconut and obviously some sweetener.
When was the last time you threw something together, no notes, no worrying about how it turns out?
I do that a lot when single or double flavor mixing. I get focused on a single flavor and will have a few small testers on my desktop. I sort of like tryin to figure out which one is in which as an activity in flavor recognizing.
But I also do that all the time with fruits when I am familiar with the flavors. I usually have one 15ml bottle that I just keep remixing every few days with something else. Like an ever evolving fruit cocktail.
How the hell do I input individual flavors on Alltheflavors? I imported my list from ELR and there were several errors that I want to manually add. Can I do that? :(
I think ATF uses a standardized list of flavors, meaning that they can only be manually added by the admin. Users just pick from this standardized list. If they're missing something I'm sure you can contact the admin to get them to add it.
This system prevents flavor duplicates and incorrect spelling etc that's everywhere on ELR.
How do I pick the flavors that I want to add?
On the top of your screen under ATF you should see three options, flavors recipes and more. Click flavors and type in the flavor you're looking for in the search bar, it should pop up.
On the right hand side will be an empty checkbox, check it and it will add itself to your inventory.
Hello everyone!
I recently picked up several packs of twist cap bottles and im super happy with the bottles except for one thing. They are so hard I can't press them. I don't understand. Even when the cap is off and there is no pressure in the bottle they feel rock solid. I just tried to drip with one bottle and my hands hurt so much. I can barely type this post because of the pain in my hands.
So my question is, is there a way to make the bottles I bought softer? At least making it easier to drip with the bottles. I wouldn't mind it if there was some kind of pour or bigger drops coming out of the cap but when I twist it fully open and hold it upside down I get small drops and it takes time for the second drop to come.
I don't know what material the bottles are except for that they are plastic and that they are called Boston twist cap. When I google some images it looks like some of them. The ones I have is clear and most of the bottles on google looked kinda foggy.
Best regards!

TL;DR - Is there anyway to soften up plastic bottles?
No you need better bottles. There is a nice thorough post in the faq friday link above.
The ones that I have is the ones that are called Bullet/Cosmo Round in the post. Sucks they was so bad
I wouldn't say they are bad as they have a purpose. The material plus those tips aren't going to make dripping easy though. Simple solution is to just use those for mixing and grab a small quantity of nice squishy ldpe bottles. Then transfer to those for dripping and carrying around with you.
Here's a question for you guys, how do you eliminate harshness from a mix? This problem has plagued me for a year. When I mix I make 60ml bottle I use 10ml of VG nic I usually use 6ml of flavour concentrate and then the rest VG. I have been adding menthol to combat harshness. I'm not a fan of complex recipies I prefer a singular fruit flavour.
Am I using too much concentrate? Is 10% too strong?
A recent experiment I have created was 10ml lemon and lime flavour concentrate, 10ml nic the rest VG. Nothing else. On exhale it leaves a nearly cough inducing slight tickle of harshness that I would like to find ways other than menthol of removing/reducing.
using freebase? Try nic salts
Which flavors are you using and what is the concentration of your nic?
Has anyone used borosilicate glass beakers? My specific question is: How well does ejuice "slide" off of the glass when emptying the mix into a bottle? I hate when I have 2 or 3 ml still left sticking to a beaker after up-ending it for a few minutes.
I'm thinking about starting to make my own juice and have a few questions.
- What supplies are recommended?
- What's the best one stop eShop to purchase everything I need to get started
- What would be an easy first flavor to mix?
- Any tip or suggestions for first time mixers?
Anyone know of a good mountain dew recipe?
Misty Mountain by /u/mlNikon
...Does anyone want 8 ounces of Flavor West Cloud 9? Got it as a sample in my NicRiver order. PM me if interested, I'm not gonna use it.
EDIT: Really hope this is allowed - will gladly remove it if not.
If it's not allowed here try https://www.reddit.com/r/Vapistan/ ; I just found that sub today and they allow giveaways (I've been looking for a place to do that). That flavor looks good! It has sugar in it though according to Bull City; I have a few flavor west flavors like that and I'm afraid to vape them... they end up usually flavoring my water.
I got a HUGE bottle of Horchata Smooth from them! I actually love that flavor... but it's so potent, I use tiny amounts. When I saw the huge bottle, I laughed--like "Whoa!"
Thanks a bunch! The sugar is why I won't use it - fine for some people, but not for me. I like the idea of flavoring water with them!
To my friends from most likely only germany: Do you know of any percentages for mixing Kiba? (For everyone else that's interested, Kiba is a drink, widely known in germany, which consists of Banana and Cherry juice (Banane and Kirsche in german words, therefore "Kiba"))
So yeah, I saw a lot of brands already made Kiba-e-Juice, but I'm not willing to pay up to 55€ for 100ml, and since I'm more into DIY anyway, I thought maybe someone already found out good mixing percentages.
Thanks a lot and have a great evening!
Can anyone take a look at this recipe for me and see if there's something I might have messed up? http://tjek.nu/r/rkhc?token=a45514f774e450e It's my first time doing a Max vg mix, and it's just a one shot flavour. But I just tried some (it's only about 24hrs old) and it gave me a massive headspin after a few draws. I've never had problems before usually at 12mg nicotine but thought I'd lower it to cut down but have the feeling I've messed up or something cause I've never had this before. Any ideas? Can I just dilute it down with some more vg? I mix by weight and have good scales so measured exactly right as on the recipe. Could it be cause it's still not steeped enough and is a bit stronger?
That's just a recipe and what the calculator gave you for values. We can't tell you what you did or wrong or even if you did anything wrong. If you had a "headspin" it's either related to your nicotine or you aren't really breathing in between hits. What scale do you have?
Yeah it's just to show what I used I made the recipe on there, I'm using lb-501 scales. Just wanted to see if it's something anyone has experienced before as I'm used to this nicotine % but was my first time vaping this high vg so just trying to figure out if it can react differently to the nicotine or something.
I guess it could be the not breathing between hits as I did take a few long pulls fairly quickly one after the other on it testing wattage and such. I'm probably just being paranoid lol
