I have about four or so mixes in 100 ml or 30 ml bottles that are my current rotation of mixes, and then I have maybe 3 or 4 10ml bottles of different mixes I am experimenting with.
How many mixes do you guys usually have going at one time?
2 DTL staples for my squonks, and 2 MTL salt mixes.
I'm not super adventurous so when I got down what I like, I don't really branch out a whole lot of work on new stuff. Eventually after like 6+ mo of vaping on something I usually have to change it up a bit and that's what gets me back mixing again.
Hey bud, nice to see you ‘round these parts!

Man I feel that, I vaped the same exact two flavor mix for damn near a year before the creator bug bit me again about a year ago and I haven't gone back yet.
^(I can feel the lazy building up inside me though.)
My lady and I both vape a lot so I keep a good amount on hand generally. I have about five mixes that I try to have at least one 100ml or 120ml bottle made of. I usually have a bottle each of Toasted, A Caramel Toffee Tobacco that I have been working on forefinger, Boss Reserve Clone, Guava Dragonfruit that I vape while I wait for the others to steep, and an old Muffin Man clone from ELR that I generally make a 500ml batch of and just fill up a 60ml occasionally. As I finish one off, I just mix more in the same bottle. I always have some Betty clone, Peppermint, and a mix I call Swamp Ass made up for my lady too. I make a few one offs and I keep one for when I'm sick, which is called When I Want To Taste (aka fuck me up), and have a more occasional rotation that includes Biscotti Al Limone, Creamy Lemon Cheesecake, and Key Lime Cookie.
When I flavor test or make new recipes I generally make anywhere from ten to twenty, sometimes more, 10ml testers and check them everyday. The few that I like get made into 30mls, a lot like u/juthinc said as vaping a 30ml is more likely to expose strengths and weaknesses in a mix as opposed to a smaller batch size. I do also mix for a lot of friends and family so I'm always trying to come up with fresh mixes and refine old ones to as near perfection as I can get.
I love posts like this because I usually find a recipe I've overlooked. That Creamy Lemon Cheesecake looks pretty awesome so I'm going to put some more CAP Lemon Lime on the re-stock list.
I currently have 540mls sitting in my cupboard. The majority are cream based and bakeries. I’m vaping a simple shake n vape fruit mix while they steep. I’m stocking them up as a few month’s worth of liquid as I’m facing wrist reconstruction surgery and not too sure how competent I’ll be at mixing while recovering.
Whenever I mix, I tend to make a big batch. around 11-15 mixes at a time. Some of them are varying sizes, most are 30mL but older ones I like go to the 60mL bottle. This way I only have to mix once every few months, and it gives time for some mixes to steep longer (>2 months)
I find i constantly like to switch flavours, and i like to have a lot on hand. I generally have about 7 or 8 and usually keep about 120 ml of each on hand for most of them, a little less for some of the less 'ADV' versions. Mind you - i also like to help new vapers get off of smoking so i frequently pour off some samplers to help them find some flavours they might like and it helps to have a small selection.
I’m not good at mixing or just not good at picking recipes for myself. I’ve got something like 20 45-60ml mixes sitting in a cabinet now steeping, and plan on mixing more.
I don’t have a problem throwing out bad juice, I have a problem telling myself “it’s been a month of steeping there’s a slim chance another month will make it better” :(
I normally have 18 or so bases, and 12 “new mixes” in various states of steeping and development. Never seemed like that much until I typed it out. :)
How do you work with bases? I've began researching them recently. If I had say a milkshake base, if I were to add a caramel flavor, then it would be a caramel flavored milkshake?
Correct! Many flavors (cheesecake, Ice Cream, etc) have flavors that take weeks to develop. In that time, you may decide your tastes change from caramel to chocolate ice cream, or that strawberry is more seasonal. Just remember, some flavors also need steeping and some are true shake and vapes. Ie: I would add strawberry and vape within 24 hours, but caramel would need a steep to fully develop.
