A Dairy Good Flavor of the Week For you More Cultured Mixers: YOGURT!
submitted over 6 years ago by ID10-TThe Kingmaker

As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!

Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

#This week's flavor is...YOGURT!!!

How did that get to be the FOTW?

It was requested! If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that). Please request something more suitable for June or July than Eggnog, if you do, your request can cut in line ahead of that one.

Past FOTW posts can be found here

The NOTED podcasts, which are basically video FOTWs, are listed on this sheet, maintained by /u/apexified

 • Yogurt (FW) 4%

 • Creamy Yogurt (CAP) 1%

 • Madagascar (Vanilla Classic) (FA) 1%

This is my yogurt base. Good for throwing pretty much whatever fruit you want at it. Think of it as a run-of-the-mill Yoplait-esque yogurt, not something very tart or a Greek Yogurt.

The recipe was initially thrown up on ATF with Strawberry, I know u/eyemakepizza has adapted it for a bangin mixed berry version.

As Edible previously mentioned, I wanted to give Yogurts a whirl and he pointed me to towards his (fantastic) Yogurt Base.

#Berry Yogurt

 • Yogurt (FW) 4%

 • Creamy Yogurt (CAP) 1%

 • Madagascar (Vanilla Classic) (FA) 1%

 • Billberry (FA) 2.5%

 • Blackberry (TFA) .5%

 • Huckleberry (TFA) .5%

 • Blueberry (FW) 2.5%

Toss it in a drawer to steep for about 7 days and it's wonderful.

Goodness, that’s a lot of FA Bilberry. Any chance that’s a typo?

2 points

by eyemakepizzaover 6 years agoPepperoni Phoenix

No sir! It's not as pungent as you'd think.

1 points

by VanDuskyover 6 years ago

I would never use that much bilberry, even. 25 of it totally takes over a recipe

Don’t knock it till ya try it ;)

So what about us more barbaric mixers, hmm?

And slighly on topic... IRL fat free greek yogurt is a pretty much 1:1 sub for sour cream, so would sour cream also be on topic?

4 points

by ID10-Tover 6 years agoThe Kingmaker

Fat Free Greek Yogurt makes a great sub for sour cream in all kinds of dishes!

Nothing about sour cream makes me want to vape it. In fact, this entire FOTW is just a little bit "what the hell is wrong with people?" for me. But yeah, it's on topic.

> is just a little bit "what the hell is wrong with people?"

I kinda felt the same way. Then I tried Ed's base and its tasty as hell.

My thoughts exactly!

Well, if vaping solid food flavors wasn't too weird for me, i could see making a perogie flavor vape, and that would need sour cream... Sour cream and onion chips...

Maybe a borscht recipe?

Ok. None of them seem vapable. No more than a strawberry and cream...

One of my favorite recipes as of lately is the following: Blue'addy Yogurt by freshepies

Really like the ??tang?? of the greek yogurt with the blueberries and the creaminess of the bavarian cream.

3 points

by ID10-Tover 6 years agoThe Kingmaker

TFA Bavarian Cream is like a sin eater for yogurt. It lets it still be a tangy yogurt without being ralphy.

by redditisnowtwitterover 6 years ago

Any suggestion for getting over the mental hurdle of it? I tried that exact recipe I believe and will again I guess if I can wrap my head round it.

3 points

by ID10-Tover 6 years agoThe Kingmaker

Not really. Even if the Bavarian Cream helps make it a good yogurt, it's still a yogurt. It sounds like you're like me and the whole idea of vaping yogurt just sort of creeps you out.

1 points

by redditisnowtwitterover 6 years ago

I have everything to make this and think I may have made that. Something similar.

It was ok. The whole concept that was vaping this sour Greek yogurt was funny to me and strange.

by chronicfartover 6 years ago

I'd love to hear more about that. I love yakult. Does it have a brand or something?

I forgot. The bottle just says CN, so likely from China haha

Heres a peach yogurt I made a few months ago. I've vaped through a couple hundred mls of it. Its tasty! The Vape Train Peach Yogurt is pretty good to go on it's own, I just helped it out a tad.

Company | Flavor | % :--------|:--------:|---------: TPA | Bavarian Cream | 1.5 TPA | Greek Yogurt | 1.5 VTA | Peach Yogurt | 5 INW | Peach | .5 TPA | Whipped Cream | 2

Also, one of my all time favorite mixes.. The classic Addy's Yogurt from Fresh03, inspired by Addy Tuney's Addy's Custard.

Lastly I have to mention Vape Train's Yoghurt Drink. I dont actually get a ton of yogurt from this one but it's one of my favorite flavors to use for shake n vapes. I've found that with the addition of a little Cap Sweet Cream for a boost to the creaminess it's an amazing vape as is, and pairs great with any other fruits you wanna throw on top. Here is the most recent mix I did with it. A strawberry blackcurrant yogurt drink. The addition of Cap lemon lime was inspired by fresh03, and pairs nicely with the lemon notes in yoghurt drink.

Sorry for the long post but I love me some yogurts!

I must say, I'm ready for all of the foot tasting flavor testing on Noted next week.

Ooof

I’m trying to find out whether there’s a yogurt worse than FAs. There’re a few steeping samples of yogurt flavors I haven’t tried yet but I seriously doubt any of them will beat FA Yogurt’s level of disgustingness.

5% FA Yogurt for science right?

2 points

by gbp14over 6 years ago

Do you have the old or new FA yogurt? I bought some a long time ago and was set on using it. Now this yogurt stone is in my rotation

Try : Yogurt(FA)3% Fresh cream(FA)1% Vienna cream(FA) 1% Marshmallow(FA) 0.75%

Top it with a sweet fruit and give it a week for the Vienna to smoothen out.

I ran out of the old diacetylicious FA Yogurt and now have the new one that makes my whole room reek of foot odor just by opening the bottle.

Here's one of my favorite recipes I've ever created. I make a few bottles every time I mix.

(I may have shared it here before, but whatever, its main ingredient is FOTW)

I call it "Figberry," though I presume the sour note is probably more due to the yogurt.

0.7% FA Fresh Fig

7% TFA Meringue

1.7% TFA Strawberry

3.5% FW Yogurt

I'm with ID10-T on this one. The thought of vaping yogurt creeps me out. That "ralphy" aspect will always haunt me. I can't escape it.

Would be archaic to ask how to make a yogurt juice without a yogurt base? ...for those of us that don't have a yogurt base flavor?

2 points

by ID10-Tover 6 years agoThe Kingmaker

Add some Sour to a heavy dairy cream, maybe?

2 points

by juthincover 6 years agoमैंगो कस्टर्ड

Simple.

Buy yogurt base.

You don't know how to make yogurt base. Simple :)

Not really archaic just not this
