Just a few things that I want to address...
- The Weekly Questions Thread - It's stickied to the top of the page for a reason. Not only does it contain links to all the weekly threads but it also has a link to the DIY Beginners Guide. You don't need to know where the sidebar is to see it or use it. Any question is welcome there but questions that belong in that thread are frequently asked new mixers questions that are not likely to generate beneficial discussion. Basically any question that is likely to have one correct answer and not necessitate a multitude of opinions (e.g. "How much nic do I add to get 3mg in my 30ml bottle?")
A good rule of thumb is if you haven't done a basic search or read the sidebar you should probably just ask in the weekly thread.
Prior to the "Relaxing of the rules" the questions thread would average 40-60 questions a week with 200+ comments per thread. So the unfortunate truth of the matter is that while there is more discussion and activity overall, fewer questions are actually being answered now than they were before.
All my effort here is to help new mixers get started with DIY and give all mixers a place to share their creativity and opinions. I don't want to alienate anyone but I also don't want the front page to become such a mess that it's impossible to find good relevant content and discussion amongst the chaos of repetitive questions.

Links to vendors that sell nicotine are against Reddit Policy. This applies to DIY supplies as well as retail eLiquid and is a sitewide policy that you will see in affect across all vaping related subreddits that don't want to get banned by the admins. Some people will argue that the language in the policy doesn't seem to cover this but the admins have actually clarified it directly to the mods of multiple vaping subreddits. Discussion of nicotine is fine so long as links are not posted.

Discussions of high concentrations of nicotine, specifically pure nicotine, are forbidden for good reason. /u/skiddlzninja announced the ban and /u/firefoxwhyyounowork elucidated the reasoning behind it.
That wasn't quick enough TL;DR: Please use the Questions thread if you're new, please visit the questions thread if you're experienced and let's get back to answering more questions and directing more people to helpful resources.
I pray that I don’t have to see anymore posts about “salt Nic” on the front page. I’m not usually a Debbie downer when it comes to these sorts of things, but just from using the shitty reddit search there’s been 10 posts in the last 13 days about it.
My favorite is "I have been using freebase 100 mg/ml at 3%. How much do I need to use if I have 100 mg/ml nic salts to get 3% ?". I'm not an overly religious man. But you can bet your ass I'm praying they use a rubber when they fuck.
Why don't you want the cops to be able to track down rapists?
Because people that fucking stupid hopefully can't find willing partners....
Someone should really write a FAQ about Nicotine Salts.
Not sure theres much to talk about though. Other than the different way it absorbs in your body. And the different throat hit it is much the same as freebase.
Here, here, jolly good show, ol' chap, I drink a cup of tea.. mhmhahamha ..in your honor.

~~~~ what the bugger? ~~~~
~~~~Ah, it seems that I have become a victim of my own devices with perculiars of reddit formatting.~~~~
~~~~Blasted again, I suppose.~~~~
Aha, I claim victory on the technology, have at thy, new reddit. I cautiously smack my glove across your face.
Looking back to my early days here . . . The Weekly Question Thread needs a different title. As it stand it's not readily apparent to newbies what is it and what it's for. Maybe title it "Newbies Start Here" or something that actually entices the new guys to take a look. And include a prominent link to a post detailing what questions to put where.
I’m down to try that out. How does “Beginners Q&A” sound?
The title should sound more like instructions than a label. Something like "Read Me First". Try to think if you've never been here before and don't know how things wourk, what would make you click on that link? How about "Free Titties & Beer - click here for details" (grin)
What about links to sites that just have flavorings and supplies but no nic or eliquid?
Also, is the ban just on pure nic or anything over 100mg/ml. ECF also has this ban and I don't understand it either place but rules are rules I guess. I just feel like we should be able to discuss things related to DIY freely. I know, you're trying to protect the newbs but what about all the people who actually know what they are doing that want to have an actual discussion? If someone does a search and doesn't have the proper knowledge/gear they would know so after reading any thread discussion higher level nicotine and with the precarious position vaping is in lots of people are stocking nic and higher concentrations are both cheaper and take up less space. /r/Deeper_DIY is dead and discussion of that nature is likely banned there as well.
If the risk vs reward works out in your mind, that's fine. But the majority of people who look at this subreddit are new mixers lurking around until they decide to pull the trigger on DIY. Pure nic is an order of magnitude more dangerous than the standard recommended 100mg/ml and even that requires some precaution, even if basic common sense, in order to be safe. The same people who can't figure out what a mixing calculator is don't need to be encouraged to "save money" by getting a lifetime supply of pure nic only to then come back asking how much they need to add to reach their target level and oh, by the way, is it normal to feel dizzy while mixing?
Hardly anyone here is qualified to handle pure nic so the discussion can happen elsewhere if you're so inclined to pursue it.
I definitely understand that and where you guys are coming from with the rule.
Just airing my opinion. Like I said, rules are rules and I've no problem following them. Just wanted to share my POV on the subject. I meant no harm by it. So is it just 1000mg/ml that is not allowed to be discussed or anything over 100mg/ml?
And just to clarify again are DIY shops that only sell flavorings and supplies but no nic or liquid allowed to be linked to? What about those who sell VG/PG? Are those okay or no?
I imagine its probably better at this point to just not link to anything directly.
Your opinion and POV is always appreciated.
It’s not actually an issue that comes up enough to have it in the sidebar. Should it be there? Probably. I need to go through the rule set and get it lined up with the rules that are actually being enforced... sounds fun. The thing about the rules is that the people breaking them have typically never laid eyes on them.
But to be clear(er) the only vendors that should not be linked are the ones that sell nic or eLiquid with nic. Everyone else that just sells flavors and supplies is fine.
The discussion of the ban for sub rules is for pure nic. The no linking is a reddit wide rule
