Diy is a lifesaver
submitted over 6 years ago by Battlebusss

Just wanted to thank this community for all the help and getting people like me started into diy and providing good resources. I love now having control over whats in my juice and having the endless recipes to play with. The money savings are unreal also.. can't believe how little it costs for high quality juice now. Keep up the good work

The best way to say thank you is to pay it forward and help those that come after you.

For sure, once I get a little more knowledge and experience I'll be passing it on to anyone I can.

Honestly, you’d be surprised how much you’d have to offer to the ‘new guy’. It’s a bit overwhelming sometimes to a first timer and they can appreciate getting a detailed answer from someone who’s been there very recently and can relate. Stick around.

For sure dude, just spent $100 on base/nic that should last me through the year. That was just a couple weeks when I was smoking cigarettes.

Pack a day in New Zealand would buy your four days worth of cigarettes.

Wholeheartedly agree - this sub and varing101 are the most helpful communities I've come across. Starting to get the hang of my RDA, making my own coils and vaping my own mixes. Love it!

Edit: damn autocorrect

Just imagine when you are trying to clone a popular juice from 5 years ago that's not even in existence anymore and folks in lvs are looking at you crazy eyed because they don't know what an ego pen is.

And they call me the crazy one lmao

I sat down the other day and added up out how much I’ve spent on DIY since I started two years ago. I found that I’ve spent $867, rounding up to $900 for simplicity, works out to less than $9 a week, that’s even including the equipment and supplies that I no longer use since getting a scale (beakers, syringes, pipettes) and flavorings I didn’t care for. Now that I have a much better idea of what I’m doing (mixing by weight and only purchasing flavorings for the recipes I like), my actual cost these days is less than $5 a week.

It can go the other way if you get addicted to collecting flavors and filling the freezer with bottles of nic. Just checked my DIY spending since March 2016: $5,342.52.

Let's be careful out there.

That works out roughly to $35 a week, even at that amount, you’re probably still ahead of of the game, assuming you were a pack a day smoker. $6/pack X 365 days=$2,190 X 3 years = $6,750. Regardless of the cost, you’ve greatly reduced the health risks associated with your habit.

Hah, making recipes can be really hit and miss, but I've enjoyed it thoroughly over the last year. Beats spend $30 aud and getting something shite.

Starting to finally make some of my own and its great, hopefully some good enough to share soon.

Welcome to the club :D.

The best way to thank the community is to proliferate the information. Use your new money saving powers for good and help others save money by introducing them to DIY juice and giving them juice to taste. Them tasting the juice will show them it's no different than store bought, except for the fancy labeling and price tag
