I've never been a guy to use sweeteners. That's one of the reasons I switched to DIY, to extend coil life.
My mixes have been feeling a little dry lately. Just not full mouth feel etc
So, I've been adding 2-4% either of TFA sweetener, or TFA marshmallow.
Marshmallow goes into the already sweet bakery and dessert recipes, while the sweetener goes into my fruity recipes.
This has made my mixes so much more enjoyable. Takes the edge off fruity/citrusy mixes, adds mouth feel to everything as well! Don't forget sweeteners guys, as I've just learned!
you do you. don't let these people tell you you're wrong for liking something. they're just mad you aren't following "the rules"
Figured. Sometimes people are so damn harsh here for no reason. There is no right or wrong or golden ratio or must have or percents you have to use or anything. That's the entire point of diy, you control all the variables and you make your juice taste however you want it to.
you'd be better off adding cactus concentrate or cucumber cap to make your juices not feel as dry.
Interesting, I just ordered cactus. Should be in this week, I'll definitely try it!
It deffo helps. It does give a tangy twang to the flavour but it gives it that wetness without messing up coils. But tbh I put like 0.25 of cactus and 0.5 sweetener and that helps my sweet tooth
> cactus or cucumber cap to make your juices not feel as dry.
These don't work for me. I get wetness from neither. But I'm happy for anyone these flavors help. Cactus can make some flavors "pop" for me but I get no extra juicy effects. I'm in a small minority it seems though.
I personally like a lot of sweetner, sometimes, when I’m feeling like it. I might mix the same recipe with no sweetner at all. Then one day decide I want it to be sweet. I’ll go 2 up to sometimes 5% if that’s how I’m feeling with the TFA. I personally don’t care about coil life in these instances. I just crave sweet eliquid sometimes.
The whole judgemental pretentious attitude ppl will give you about too high %s or too much sweetner from others often on the sub, as far as that goes, if you like it that’s what matters. Your not mixing for them it’s for yourself.
Amen brotha, preach it. People act like there's 1 way of mixing eliquids and nobody could EVER like it any other way. Some people may believe "insert flavor here" is gross at 3%, while others may love it at 13%
I'd say most people just hop on a bandwagon though, having only read about things and never actually mixed them and gave them a try themselves
This has made my mixes so much more enjoyable.
I understand your point, but as others said, 2% is a hell of a lot.
My "sweeter" diy juices contain around 0.2 - 0.4% of sweetener (Sucralose or CAP Super Sweet) for Ethyl Maltol I won't go over 0.6% unless a specific recipe asks for it.
Maybe try with less and work your way up until you got it where you want it, if that's 2% for you, all is well too.

Have you tried any sweeteners besides TFA's?
Nope, that's all I have right now!
Try some FW Sweetener or CAP Super Sweet. There are scenarios where TFA Sweetener could be the best one for the job, but it contains maltol and water that mute flavors and thins your juice, while the FW Sweetener or CAP Super Sweet will just give you that sugar-lips finish. They're also WAY more potent, so you can replace your 2% TFA with like 0.5% FW or 0.25% CAP.
Seen it said already, but being a mixer that initially believed sweeteners to be abhorrent, I have been adding about 0.25% of CAP Super Sweet to mix fruit mixes for the last year now. I've tried almost every sweetener on the market, and still think CAP is the best option. It doesn't mute your recipe after a few days like others tend to do, it boosts up the fruit profiles, and adds that ever addicting sugary feel to a mix. I saw you say you only have TPA's sweetener, I would highly recommend picking up CAP SS and enjoy. I think you'll immediately notice a positive difference.
> still think CAP is the best option
I do too. I use it in fruit mixes as well. It can make an ok mix taste bright and more enjoyable. I love that its very potent as well. A single drop can do wonders to 10-15ML.
I've been reading people rave about sugar daddy but haven't tried it yet.
Sorry but adding 2-4% of sweetener to everything is a horrible tip.
It has made me re enjoy older recipes I had gotten tired of!
Clearly not everything, a fruit mix that isn't supposed to be sweet, or a tea or tobacco or something like that that isn't supposed to be sweet....duh, don't add sweetener
Just sharing not to forget about them! I had never used them before now, and they have made my mixes more enjoyable
Yeah see I think many ended up here because they wanted to forget them. I think there are better ways to accomplish what you want that don't involve huge amounts of coil wrecking, flavor muting sweeteners. There are quite a few good threads on this in regards to sweetness, mouth feel, juiciness etc. Should probably give them a read.
That's part of the reason I'm here too, to forget sweeteners. However with DIY and rebuildables it's not an issue to me at all anymore. I can rewick my RTA/RDA in like 5 minutes. I rewick maybe twice/week, once if I'm lazy. Honestly I don't need to rewick once/week with DIY the cotton is more than fine, but I like switching builds and starting fresh.
I also switched to save dat money.
I'll give some of the threads a read, I've already looked them over a bit but haven't read em all!
2-4% is a lot of sweetener....
Meant to specify, I use the sweetener at 2%, and the marshmallow at 4%.
IMO the TFA marshmallow doesn't taste like anything at all....all it does is make it taste like you're biting into whatever you are vaping.
Seriously, I was curious and mixed just straight TFA marshmallow @ 15% and it just tasted like sweet VG.
I feel like commercial "premium" juice adds 5%+ sweetener. I've had some commercial juices fuck a wick up in 10ml or less :/
The Marshmallow tasted like VG at 15% because that is way too much flavoring
To you, maybe. it's TFA though. their flavorings are for the most part way underpowered. when I'm using a TFA flavor for the main ingredient, i'm using anywhere from 5-10% because they can be so weak sometimes.
when I started, I had 3 flavors: TFA strawberry ripe, TFA vanilla swirl, and TFA Mango.
All 3 of those standalone at 12-15% were and are still vapable!
Meringue or sweet cream as creamy sweeteners.
Dragonfruit+cactus as fruit sweetener
Ethyl maltol as a fruit sweetener, but only if you want all layers to blend. EM seems to eliminate layering of flavors, as if you blended them and threw in spoonfuls of sugar.
Nmhhmmm dragon fruit and cactus just sounds yummy. I've never tried cactus yet, but as I said above I just ordered it. Only a 15ml to try it, but it sounds delicious!
I'm told they are both very close profiles, with cactus introduce a profile that can only e described as green with a floral aroma of aloe vera being introduced at high percentages. Some people say it has a slight pear or under ripe banana so I too am excited for mine to arrive as I have tried stuff others have made for me in the past. Another name for it is spiky pear so it makes me think it's actually the fruit of a variety of cactus. The interior usually looks similar to that of a dragon fruit so they must be similar in nature, but I don't pretend to know these things. The one thing I haven't tried yet that I want to, is agave. Its more of a specialized flavor specific to these dragon fruit/cactus profiles.
I didn't use sweetener for a long time. Then I used way too much for awhile. Now I think I've found that sweet spot. I didn't mean to type that but I can't delete it either. But yeah a little sweetener really helps some mixes. I go back and forth between tfa sweetener and cap super sweet depending on the mix. I read on here awhile back that the cap has a couple of shady preservatives but I use it really sparingly (0.25-0 5%) so I'll probably be ok.
