Quick Review: TFA Crunch Berry
submitted over 6 years ago by RancerDS

Before getting into the meat of it, wanted to say that this is strictly my opinion and my particular thoughts. All comments of your own regarding this flavor and how you use it is welcome.

Quickie: Since I can eat Crunch Berry cereal without milk until it makes me nauseous, it seemed like a great idea to order the flavor concentrate. The order was placed through BullCityFlavors and was very reasonably priced for a 30 mL bottle. They re-label it and/or make smaller batches from larger containers. When I first received it, noticed it was pretty dark. At a 5% mixture, the final solution isn't that dark, so am not overly concerned with coil-gunk. Can admit it tasted weak and also the cereal part wasn't as noticeable as I'd have liked. But the baked flavors are harder for me to pick out of it for some reason. With my 1st batch having steeped a nice amount of time (over a week), it was definitely vape-able. Yet not really ideal for stand alone as far as I was concerned. Ended up adding a few drops of CAP Cereal 27, which covered up some of the flavor and altered it. So added in caramel and even a few drops of a fruit-medley to get it back to what it should taste like. Can say it is better but not quite the same as the actual cereal. So I have two options... mix it at a noticeably higher percentage and maybe gunk the coils faster or to continue ~~experimenting~~ mixing in other stuff with this base flavor. Mind you, it is very good and the concentrate has a wonderful smell. So a lot of this may just be me.

Question to everyone: Are you finding this flavor isn't working for you on it's own? I noticed it was rated 5 ~~starts~~ stars on BCF. I'm using 65/35 VG/PG in the mix and zero nicotine.

EDIT: Strike-through and added words in italics.

I struggled with this one for nearly a solid year. Too little and you can barely taste it, too much and it tastes like fucking mushrooms.

I'm pleased with my final result, which combined other flavors to bring out the berry. Dragonfruit is commonly used to boost strawberry and it works well with this too.

Here's my recipe for reference. It is still my favorite recipe to date, and a favorite among all my neighbors that vape.

How different is the tfa cereal crunch compared to the berry stuff. I've got the crunch stuff but never really used it.

I went with the non fruit so I could add whatever kind I wanted later on. That was my thinking ahead on this flavor. The crunch is like the berry just without the berry. You can take the recipe and add any fruit of your choice to make it work. "Same base just no fruit." I'll have to get the Joy since I lack that plus a few others. Thank you for the mention on this! :-)

Ya no problem. I guess I drunkenly made a new juice last night. Hopefully it tastes ok. I have an ounce of joy and this was my first time using it. It smells like beer and scares me.

I went ahead and book-marked it. Thanks for this.

Noticed you used this concentrate at 5%. Also, you had FA Joy to help bring out the "cereal" taste? Also guessing that you used the regular Strawberry versus Ripe version. Must admit that the Cereal 27 brought the flavor of oats, but more akin to that of oatmeal versus oat cereal. Again, taste buds could be slightly off tonight.

The FA Joy is another booster. There is already a cereal note in Crunch Berry, but it is faint. Usually we'd use Acetyl Pyrazine to force a flavor to be more cereal like, but it does not work here. It just clashes. The small drop of Joy does an amazing job of bringing out the cereal note that is already in Crunch Berry. Though I like the suggestion below by /u/ranjen617 to use TFA Crunch. This would presumably be a direct flavor boost to the exact cereal mixture. I don't have it to test, but that sounds like a reasonable area to explore!

And yes, just regular TFA Strawberry. The Ripe version would probably taste like a mushroom infested compost heap, as it would boost the wrong end of this flavor.

LOL. Never smelled the mushroom infested heap, so will have to guess at what you mean by that... musty/musky?

This is one flavor that I had just bought the plain cereal vs the berry one. To make the flavor come alive to what you like, it calls for a few more ingredients. I'm learning this all to well myself. The stand alone just isn't there after I did a one flavor tester. The things we learn in mixing. :-)

I've done 3, 5, and 7%. 3 you can barely tell it's there. 5% is still flat and can't taste the cereal. 7% it tastes horrible. I keep thinking I'll find something to do with it. Have not found that something yet. 1 out 5 on the flavor list.

Based on your response, will probably try a 6% with very tiny alterations (additives) to see how it comes out and go from there. Thanks on the input.

I may try swinging in some dragon fruit, sweet cream, Bavarian, strawberry, or just go the opposite direction with Raspberry clear, blue razz, and Bavarian. Try to perk up some of those notes.

I'll try the fella above my comment's recipe. I love cereal vapes to death. If I can get this to work I'll be happy. Otherwise it's one more flavor in the "do not use" bin sitting right next to PLUM :-X

Huh, works for me solo at 4% every time. It's almost too much. I made myself sick of it lol, max vg + 2% distilled water. Mines from nic river, it does get darker over time. You might have an old batch if it's super dark, may explain the weakness. Kopel has the Lazy Breakfast recipe on ecr that's pretty good.

I'll have to play around with the percentages then. Not really sure how much of it is the recipe/ingredients and how much of it is ruined taste-buds. Besides periods of heavy vaping, have a tendency to eat foods with hot sauce with certain foods.

I tried it on its own a year or so ago when everyone was raving about it. It's been a while so I don't remember exactly, but it seemed flat and the cereal tasted kind of plastic-y. I never got around to trying to improve it, so the concentrate is just sitting.

Maybe if I get it to where it's really good, will buy your bottle off of ya.

I only bought the small bottle to try. Maybe I'll copy off you when you perfect it! 😂

I've just build a website and need to assess user accessibility, pricing etc, would you give it a look over??

That's funny but not funny all at the same time. Blending and drinking could get you into some trouble! 😂 I dare not try in my early stages of mixing. Never know what I'd make.

I looked at the recipe and I don't have a few flavors there, might pick those up. I saved it and thank you for sharing with us.

I just made two 30ml bottles of my blend. Molton Choc Cake. ❤ Coming out very good but added a little dairy milk to it, just a tad.

Good luck on yours! I'm enjoying this mixing!
