Should I give Nic Salts a try???
submitted over 6 years ago by Miracle420

I am almost out of freebase nicotine which I typically buy from vaperstek as it is EU sourced nicotine. Should I give the nic salts a try though from nicotine river? I’ve been out of the loop for a few years lol and I’m trying to catch up but from what I understand nic salts will be delivered through your bloodstream more efficiently?! Am I also correct in assuming that its not going to be so harsh to vape when your vaping really high levels like 50mg and up?

Please if you all could help me decide

Option 1: Vaperstek Premium EU Sourced Nicotine 100mg (Freebase)

Option 2: Nicotine River PurNic 100mg Smooth Nic Salt

I’m just starting to get into pod systems so should I go with the salts? Do your flavors taste at all different? I primarily use PG based TFA flavoring...

Thanks

Yes try salts :) it’s not for everyone but if it works for you it’s miles better imo. I made the transition to MTL and salts about 6 months ago and never been happier vaping.

Would you say why you find it miles better?

I find the throat hit to be extremely satisfying, the nic hit is much closer to actually smoking, I don’t find myself vaping constantly for no reason anymore, I vape until I have my nic hit and then I put it down for a while. It also allows me to be a lot more discrete and vape in places I probably shouldn’t. Most of the devices I now use are tiny and the battery still lasts a couple of days. Instead of using 60ml of juice in two days, 60ml lasts (technically) forever as I’m always losing it or giving it away before I finish it.

Oh and when I’m using an MTL dripper I only have to drip like once an hour

I can 100% confirm all of this. I made the same transition earlier this year, and without really trying I've just stop sub ohming big ass clouds.

It's been nice.

> I vape until I have my nic hit and then I put it down for a while.

That sounds like it might also be avoidable using a higher concentration though.

Once I switched to MTL and Salts I stopped looking for new tanks, mods, everything. I'm just so satisfied with my setup now.

What strength juice do you make? I am new to vaping and trying to get going into DIY juice. I have a Zenith tank and Tigon tank (both MTL). All I've tried so far has been CloudBerry Vapor juice 25mg salts. Come to find out after all the research I did when deciding on a tank.. that I have two things working against me already if I want better flavor.. I use an MTL tank and nic salts. I am having a hard time figuring out if it's even worth trying to make juice. Are there good recipes for nic salts that will give a LOT of flavor or no?

The first day I got my vape (2 weeks ago) I right away went from 3-+ cigarettes a day to 3 for a few days.. slowly as I began to taste the juice less and get more annoyed I started smoking more. At this point I am pretty much smoking what I always did as I wait for more juice in the mail hoping I can taste it more

I have found that MTL'ing salts based high nic juice at 50/50 in a pod system to be the closest approximation there is to smoking a tobacco cig. It will never replace my DNA mod and suboming as a goto but it's a change of pace and really useful in stealth situations.

This all the way. I bring my Nautilus AIO device with me to work or when I’m out and about and when I’m sitting around at home it’s the subohm tank all night. Keeps things fresh in my eyes

If you're going to be using pods, I'd say it's a very good idea. Freebase nicotine gets so harsh as the concentration goes up.

For sub ohm vaping, I prefer freebase over salt nicotine. The best of all (for me) is an equal concentration of both. I've been vaping 3 mg freebase and 3 mg salt for a couple months now, and I would never go back to just one or the other (except in pods).

I'll play the other side and say no, but only personally. Try it and see if it works.

For me, I woke up the next day after using salta regularly feeling exhausted and out of breath. Didn't his for a while and then stopped. Back on freebase. No more exhaustion or out of breath reeling.

It definitely is more efficient alright! Maybe too efficient.

How strong were the salts? Were you huffing it like a madman? I haven't tried salts yet, but feel like 3mg freebase isn't doing the trick for me anymore. (don't want to go up to 6mg, gives me a sore throat with the amount I vape)

I was using 3mg freebase and am trying out 12mg salts. So far I like it, the increased nic is nice and I find it very smooth, unlike 12mg freebase would be (for me anyway)

Cool cool. I find myself trying to find the balance between throat irritation and a satisfying nic hit with freebase. I just got a bottle of salts today and trying to figure out how strong to make it. Was thinking 20-35 only because a lot of the stuff on the market is in that range.

5 mg salts would probably be perfect for you then

25mg, and not really chuffing it no. I was also consistently disappointed in the flavors and how terrible the pod system quality was. I can't tell you how much money I wasted trying new setup.

One way or another they're all beta products the Chinese market is using as ready to go, then hear your complaints and maybe fix one of them in the next iteration.

Just stick with freebase and start mixing your own tbh

Salts are great IMO. If you are smoking up to 50 mg though you need to be using a low voltage device (the air, drop, fix, etc) which salts are preferred for. do 50 mg free base in one of those would suck. So since your using a pod definitely get the salts.

I vape at 10mg salts on my low ohm and it's perfect.

In my experience it feels cleaner than freebase.

I don't get randomly tired like did vaping freebase.

Idk it's not for everyone but I sold all of my sub ohm equipment and just vape salts out of pods now.

I use both depending on the context. Freebase for home so I can enjoy sub ohm DIY mixes and salt from a pod for work where I want to be fast and discreet.

I switched over with my last order, don't notice any difference at all. I vape on a subohm device though at 1.5mg so there's that too.. I might go on a limb and say the juice hits a bit smoother, but even then it's maybe 15% smoother so it's hard to tell at such low levels. The smoothness could even be from a fresh wick or new coil build lol.

I see no reason to use anything else these days. I only do 3-6 mg concentrations but nic salts are just so smooth and it gets in your blood more similarly to a cigarette.

If you end up trying it, use the discount code 'tryCNT' at liquid barn for 20% off their salt nic.

edit: its actually 30% off

You totally should. I use salt-nic when I make my own juices, & get zero harshness at 50mg.

Personally, I'm indifferent to nic salts. Even for low wattage mtl I still prefer freebase. I just don't like how salts feel. Sure, it gets in you faster, but it leaves faster too.

If you like big, thick clouds, no. But otherwise, I'd give it a shot and see how it goes.
