“Fixing” store-bought juice?
submitted over 6 years ago by aaraT

I have 240mls of store-bought juice (don’t ask - it sounded good, smelt good & was on sale) that just doesn’t taste like much of anything at all (not vaper’s tongue, I’ve only had 2 tanks over the space of a month), the batch date is nov.18, and steeping for a month didn’t improve it... would it be OK to buy a concentrate or two and add some of my own flavour to it? I was thinking something like Capella Marshmallow as it was a desert flavour to begin with... any % recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

I have had several I've added a little concentrate to help boost some bland flavor when I was transitioning to DIY exclusively. I'd suggest keeping your additions simple and minimal%.

What were supposed to be the main notes of this liquid ?

It’s pecan nuts & butter fudge (Vape Me On - A Walk), it sounds like a tough one to fix which is why I was angling for marshmallow for a sweet creaminess, I’m very open to better suggestions though!

I'd try either a sort of RUYAN4 (usually I use T-JUICE TY4) or maybe some caramel salty butter.

Maybe more the second solution because this looks a bit like the kind of recipe that I try for months (usually peanut butter + caramel + vanilla custard, sometimes with a bit of hazelnut or other nuts)

Try some TPA Vanilla Swirl.

Personally, I'd use that as a base for a tobacco - I'd start by adding 2 or 3% Flavorah Turkish, then maybe a some cookie and/or vanilla.

Vanilla swirl is a really good flavor. Prob my favorite of TFAs many different vanillas, except VBIC

Best answer here. Add 1% vanilla swirl and 2-3% sugar cookie.

Thanks! Not a tobacco fan, but I get the idea... vanilla sounds good

I'd just bang some menthol in it personally.

Eeek, no, not a menthol fan here, especially not in the depths of a Berlin winter, I reserve my rare menthol trists for 35C+ weather, or when I have a flu :D besides, it’s a pecan & fudge mix, definitely the last thing that would be enhanced with menthol! Hahaha

Ah shame.. reason I say it is because it kinda fixes shit juice in a way, or at least masks it.

I can see how that would work, but sadly it’s not a shortcut for me.

I have 2/3rds of a 120ml “grape lemonade” that I looooooove the grape of, but that had a decent helping of unannounced ice, I love that juice on scorching summer days or when I get sick, but it’s going on 6 months now and I think it’ll go bad before I manage to finish it, lol - it’s also made me wary of any juice with lemonade in the name.

That lead me to DIY though, my first DIYs were grape juices, because nostalgia for Hubba Bubba Grape bubblegum from childhood memories.

Truth. I use it to ‘fix’ my own stuff (failures) all the time.

Take it back to the same store if possible? Maybe they can top it off for you at no cost? Be honest and explain everything.

Sadly it's not a house juice, just a new brand with a launch sale, so not their fault - shops here in EU don't make juice. Worse comes to worse it's €15 lost, not a huge deal, I just thought I'd try make lemons into lemonade, so to speak, before binning it.

I'd try capella Bavarian cream @ 2.5% to start with. You can go up to 15% with cap and 10% with TPA. Without knowing the base recipe, if its weak I'd assume its about 7.5% base flavour and you have 2.5 to 5 to play with adjustments.

Marshmallow probably would be the worst choice possible. Why mute and cut off the sharpness of flavors you already don't have?

I figured it would at least give it a sweet creaminess, which I wouldn’t hate, it should be pecan & fudge, I can’t think of much else I could do to it!

Pecan and fudge? So assuming chocolate fudge.... Cinnamon would go well. A touch of coffee. Maybe a tobacco like FLV Red Burley. More chocolate. Maybe a peanut butter. Maybe coconut, not banana.

Maybe Capellas Boston Cream Pie.
