Plastic Cracking Flavors In PET Bottles
submitted over 6 years ago by Cloudie21

Hello Juiceheads :D

So I will be ordering a whole bunch of flavors soon, trying to get into DIY once again. Last time were no succes.
On my shopping list is the following "known to crack/melt plastic tanks" flavors:

TPA:
Honeysuckle - Pear - Ry4 Double - VBIC

FA: Lemon Sicily

So my wondering is this, will it be safe to keep them in the PET bottles I imagine they will come in?

Yes. "Crackers" don't crack all plastics - just many of the ones that are (or, rather, were) economical to make atomizer tanks from. PET would make a good tank for crackers if not for it being all bendy and stuff. (When it comes right down to it, a person doesn't really care why they've suddenly got a pocketful of e-liquid; it's more that they've suddenly got a pocketful of e-liquid.)

(Pro tip: PEI/Ultem tanks are "cracker safe", and some polycarbonates can handle flavourings that nuke acrylics/PMMA from orbit, even if they can't handle everything that PEI can. PEEK would be good as well, if it weren't for that whole opacity problem.)

That is a very nice pro tip. I have thought about how some tanks on Fasttech could be in PEI and PC.

Completely different kind of plastic. You wont really find bottles that will crack due to flavorings unless you go looking for them. I personally prefer a mix of LDPE and glass bottles.

It happened to my Taifun GT. I didn't know anything about tank crackers back then. My PET bottles have all been fine. But some of my softer plastic bottles have been splitting. It's either the flavors or I just got cheap bottles.
