As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is...Root Beer!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested! If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

For the people who don't know what root beer is (myself included):
Root beer is a sweet North American soft drink traditionally made using the sassafras tree Sassafras albidum (sassafras) or the vine Smilax ornata (sarsaparilla) as the primary flavor. Root beer may be alcoholic or non-alcoholic (but it is usually non-alcoholic), come naturally free of caffeine or have caffeine added, and be carbonated or non-carbonated. It usually has a thick, foamy head when poured. Modern, commercially produced root beer is generally sweet, foamy, carbonated, nonalcoholic, and flavored using artificial sassafras flavoring.
While no standard recipe exists, the primary ingredients in modern root beer are filtered water, sugar, and artificial sassafras flavoring, which complements other flavors. Common flavorings are vanilla, wintergreen, cherry tree bark, licorice root, sarsaparilla root, nutmeg, acacia, anise, molasses, cinnamon, sweet birch, and honey.
^(Sassafras root is still used to flavor traditional root beer, but since sassafras was banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration due to the carcinogenicity of its constituent safrole, most commercial recipes do not contain sassafras. Some commercial root beers do use a safrole-free sassafras extract.)

Anything new, or is that obscure concentrate still reigning supreme for rootbeer?
I keep hearing that Tasty Puff Rasta Root Beer is the best-in-class root beer. I haven't tried it.
I wonder whether anyone who has tried both TP and FLV root beers can offer a comparison, because FLV is pretty fuckin tasty.
TFA Root Beer, on the other hand. Ugh. It's almost unvapeable.
I have both, plus all the others on your list save Delosi. I honestly think Tasty puff slightly edges out FLV the fact is it's not very accessible, way over priced for the potency, and more limited in application.
For those reasons I still feel like FLV is the overall champion because the pricing is similar but it's 3 times as potent at least and near equal flavor.
Thank you! Can you help me out with what you mean by "more limited in application?" Do mean that FLV you can do things with besides just make root beer vapes (such as mix it into a Ginger Beer which I have mixed up and can hardly wait to get into) but you don't think TP would be good for much else?
When I started vaping, rootbeer was what kept me going and I went at that ADV for the first few months... I didn't care much for the tastypuffs solo, but with a couple of the others mixed in (in the end I wound up with FW RB and RBF, TPA, TP and LB) and a little added spritz of wintergreen it was a very tolerable rootbeer. After trying the FLV one though, I wouldn't go back to tastypuffs - FLV has some more subtle flavour to it and I can get into it solo without feeling like I'd just vaped some mint flavored lard.
Recently I've been adding a little FLV and a little RF SC Soda Base to this which stands alone pretty good even without, despite not looking like it would (because TPA.)
Why don't you just mix up some fizzy sherbet, ws-23, polar blast, and tastypuff Rasta rootbeer, and then another batch using FLV rootbeer and try them side by side? It's not like there's a flavor you don't have...
