What is the most popular VG/PG ratio for Salt based juices?
submitted over 6 years ago by bradleyb5155

I know some devices require certain numbers, so I wanted to see what is more compatible ratio.

There is none for juices with nic salts. That depends on the device, as you said.

The only devices I have seen say 60% max VG, anyone seen others?

I'm unsure as to why you are asking. Just make juice for the device you are using?

Most pods are 50/50, outside of that if you're using a traditional atty and mod I'd imagine the sweet spot is 60-40 or 70-30 as they're used on low watt devices. I don't imagine max vg is a great thing to use on a low wattage device.

55VG has been satisfactory for both my juul and smok novo. I actually prefer 55vg instead of 65vg. When you buy nicotine extract order it suspended in VG if you can get 100mg, otherwise order it suspended in PG. in Canada 60mg is the maximum citizens can order so 60vg:40pg nic concentrate is best to buy if you want to mix around 50mg with flavorings that are suspended in PG.

I made the mistake of ordering it suspended in VG as a Canadian with only access to 60mg dilution because it's better for cold storage but it limited my max nic. And no, I don't have concerns over nicotine hot spots when suspended in VG. I shake well and put all my 60mg extract onto ten 100ml bottles for easy storange, access, and use.

55/45 sounds great. I am going to test this. This ratio should work with all pod and salt devices right?

it works great in both my juul and smok novo. The smoke novo is 1.5 ohm and the juul 1.6 ohm. The Novo airflow depends on how much you push in the pod fitting. Tight fit pod gives tighter airflow comparable to The juul who has a tighter airflow that is comparable to the novo with a tight fit.

As for nicotine concentration, the stock juul pods are stronger than most salt juices, it's above 50nic I'm sure. Juul report 5% nicotine by weight on replacement pod packages but I'm not sure exactly how that measures up on average. Some people say its between 50-59mg on juul pods.

Yea I think it’s 59. 5% by volume (weight it 1.26mg per ml so yea that’s like 63mg

Almost all salt nic makers use 50/50. Too much pg and it leaks. Too much vg, and you get dry hits.

Thanks that’s what it looked like too.

Juul pods are 70/30 VG/PG

I don’t think this is true. I think they are 50/50

Juul is 60/30 (as stated on their site).

I'd say that leaves 10 for flavours - so 60/40.

ROPYLENE GLYCOL AND GLYCERINE (30/60 MIX)

(UP TO 90%)

So it could be 90PG 10VG

I know 70\30 works in a Smok Novo pod system without problems. Only one I can speak from experience with.

Cheers

70VG? That’s pretty impressive. Are there any devices that can do 80VG because with 250mg/ml salts you can still get to 80% VG at 50mg

80 would be tough I think. If you used something like the Aspire Breeze, nautilus, smok Nord etc ( one that has replaceable coils & use the same pod) you're probably going to run into worse wicking problems @80vg than with a sub-ohm tank as there's no vacuum being created to pull the juice through.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong pls

Thanks, think I’m going to stick with 60VG 40PG ratio, seems to be most compatible with many devices.

Get your salts in a VG base and it gives you more control over your VG/PG ratio. Pain in the ass to mix with but it's worth the trouble.

Not if you use 250mg/ml PG Then you can go as high or low as you want for ratio

I keep hearing both sides of this. I haven't started mixing yet.. still trying to figure out what to get. I will be making nic salts anywhere from 50/50 up to 70/30. I was told I should get 48mg base 100% PG? I guess I don't understand the difference. Some people say 100% PG is fine.. others say VG.. some say 48mg.. others say definitely 100mg.. so confusing

I DIY at 50/50 on both my pod devices and a aspire K2 Atomiser which I use on a drag. Although I tend to stick to the 1.2ohm BVC coils at around 13 watts. The latter, Simply because I don't want my larger mods going to waste.

I work vg base salt. Then got 20-30% starting range flavoring which puts you around 70vg then I'll bring down to a 60vg to finish. The other way gets tight on nic levels you need

Why use VG salt if you bring down to 60 anyway? VG is hard to work with

There was a post like this from a while back I believe that I read, and he was making pods for a juul I believe and its 60/40 or something around there. Would look into it though. Pretty sure it just depends on the device.

I do 55VG. Seems to be just thin enough for juul-type pods and barely thick enough for suorins/breeze
