PSA - Check your caps/lids
submitted almost 7 years ago by malren

Spent 20 minutes mixing up 500ml of my personal juice in a wide-mouth glass jar. Shook the crap out of it. Let it settle. Shook. Settle. Shook. Loosened the lid to let the alcohol and sharp flavors escape. Let it settle.

Shook.

See the missing step? Don't be me. Don't fling 300+ mls of ejuice all over your desk/floor/carpet. Check your caps and lids.

Ouch! Hopefully it'll at least leave a nice smell in the room.

I've done this exactly twice and now I am very vigilant.

The first time, however, was with an A1 bottle at a restaurant.

Nothing like that moment after you realize it happened, and then the moment you realize you're in public.

At least it didn't hit anyone and I didn't have to clean it up. Just made a booth much tastier than usual.

Ha! Sounds like me, except it was a bottle of hot sauce all over the kitchen.

A hot sauce loss is the worst loss.

In my school canteen we used to have a shaker bottle of salt, one of pepper and a larger one of sugar on each table.

Standard procedure was to either pour the salt into the sugar, or just loosen the cap on any of them !

Your post made me think of Tony Soprano dumping all the salt on his steak n eggs. His goomar Valentina was quite the joker.

My problem is leaving the juice in the car when outside and then squeezing the bottle of cold juice too hard can make the drip top blow out the bottle and then you squeeze all that juice everywhere.

I have a habit of leaving my juice in the truck as well but never had this happen..I'll be more careful for sure!

It's currently 30°F here and its only certain bottles but I've had a couple blow the tops off

First and last time I did it was with a 120ml bottle of 100mg PG nic. Luckily I didn't have pets at the time. It did ruin the screen on my laptop though.

I'm SO lucky here. I was shaking away from the laptop or this coulda gone real, real bad for me.

That sucks! I think most of us have done this at least once. Thankfully I did it outside with a test batch of 60ml. Felt like a complete idiot and now I’m OCD about lid checks. I suppose that’s a good thing though.

yea, had similar thing happen to me - I am using 500ml bottles for mixing, had full one, and trying to unlock the child safety mechanism, which obviously got stuck, the harder I am trying, the worse it is, until... suddenly it pops open, along with most of the juice on the floor... sad day that was... sad day

Yeah. Opened a fresh 100ml the other day and began to turn the bottle over before looking down to put the tip in my tank. At the moment I looked I realized that the dripper was stuck in the cap and dumped 60ml or so on my lap. SMH always check the lid and drip tip.

Omg, happened to me once, thankfully, it was only a 100ml bottle with an opening about the same size as on a beer bottle (the cap was just sitting on top of the bottle, completely unscrewed).

The mess was still quite epic though and it also hit the PC screen, the keyboard and quite some other things that were not easy to clean. Haha.

Yet another reason to remember don't 'breathe' a mix. #karma

A while back I was mixing a batch of Grack Juice directly into a 60ML bottle. I got all the flavors in and tipped it over somehow. The smell of Grack filled the room, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. I did get a little mad about wasting flavorings though. I never breathe any of my mixes but accidents happen.
