nicotine seems way to strong
submitted almost 7 years ago by MasonIsSoFat

so I ordered 100mg PG nic from vapoureyes NZ since nicotine is illegal to sell in Australia but you can import it. I needed to add it to some of my juices I had lying around that are 0mg and put them up to 3mg

, I used a nic calculator and shook the shit out of them and the nicotine is very overpowering . I have it stored in the freezer and shook pretty well before I added it, so not sure what happened. Should I just let them steep?

It burns the back of my throat, like I just snorted pepper

"... sine nicotine is illegal to sell in Australia but you can import it."

And I thought the US had stupid laws.

But I can vouch for smooth nic salts from Nicotine River, bought it recently.

Seems as though your nicotine is oxidizing. Nic is usually clear and when it gets darker it will taste peppery.

Same happened to me. Same formula as i always use. Went back to the shops and bought mire juice to dilute the nic out

It's always a good idea to titrate nicotine upon receipt, not unheard of for it to be higher than exoected. Kits are cheap insurance.

Sounds fancy. How do you "titrate" that nicotine?

With a kit like this one. I check every new bottle I get, for my own peace of mind. I feel this should be a part of everyone's routine.

I mean, how else would you really know the concentration of the nicotine? This thread and another that I can't find right now convinced me to do this step each time.

Interesting. Maybe I should start doing this, especially since I use VG mainly.

Me & a mate both ordered the same. Both did the same. We both agree on: It tastes like pepper & is always too strong, even if you use a little bit. It gets a bit better with age but I'm not a huge fan of it.

Are you sure you added the correct amount?
How much did you add to what size bottle?

60ml juices I had from outer world were RTV so from the nic calculator at vapr.com.au it said to add 1.80ml.

My SixnOut 120ml was 3/4 full and I measured it and it came to 100-99.5, I added 2.9ml And my Morris the grape had half of 60ml left, it was a little over 30ml and I added .9

Your math seems ok - so you can rule that out as a cause. Did you test your nic? make sure it's really 100mg/ml? It's rare, but it has happened - companies have shipped the wrong product. And of course it could always be the quality or handling of the nic.

Good Nic is supposed to be like a light clear yellow colour and the one I got from VE was like dark brown and almost black, it fucked all my juices muted the fuck out of the flavours, try getting it of liquid barn or something I just stopped vaping Nic was easier than I thought only a few shit days with chronic headaches

Mine is a yellow tint, might’ve just fucked all the juice I have left until I order next :/

OP, what colour is the Nicotine, still clearish?

I think the Vapour Eyes guy is on here, someone who knows his name might be able to tag him.

in the bottle it looks dark but once it’s in the syringe it’s a tint of yellow

Yeah, that's not good, it's probably rather oxidized. When I've bought nic it's generally been a very pale straw/yellow color, like 'a drop or three of black tea in a mug of water' can-just-barely-see-it color, and that's when I'm looking down through through the full 150-ish mL bottle to the bottom. In the syringe it just looks crystal clear.

You might try complaining to the vendor and see if they'll replace it.

I’ll let them know, just means I messed up all my juices I have left :/

I had the same problem with Nicotine River Chemtec liquid nicotine, and Liquid Nicotine Warehouse nicotine, in every flavor I mixed. Tried several mixes without nic in them, no problem at all. I have some smooth salt nic from nicotine river that has no taste or throat hit at all, I've just been using that to make everything now. TFV12 Prince with strip coil at 50w, all 100mg/ml nicotine bases, vg base from nic river, pg&e base from LNW. Color didnt seem off on either of the liquid nicotine bottles, I'm kind of at a loss why it seems so harsh. Brand new bottles as well, stored at ~63 degrees F since they were unboxed.

I have used Nic from Wick and Wire and also from VE. It’s always going to be pretty harsh but when you just add it in. Generally needs about 4 days to mellow out.

I make a batch every so often and throw it in my drawer, by the time I get to it, its a month later and 0 issues.

But yeah the ones I’ve got from VE and Wick and Wire have always been good quality and good colour (light honey colour?)

Yep. Just a tint of yellow. I’ll just let them sit in my cupboard in a box for a week see how it turns out

I've used nice from China, USA and soulblu and vaporeyes NZ. Some batches are good some are not so good. I still use it regardless as I'm not wasting money :) other than one batch from China that I could finish, tasted like sweaty feet.

Peppery nic is unacceptable IMO. I got some my first order a couple of years ago. As soon as I tasted it, I said F that. I ordered from a different place that day. I'm so glad I found a reliable vendor because I refuse to vape the peppery stuff.

For the math, although no one asked for it:

If you have 100mg/ml nicotine and want 3mg/ml juice, you need 3 of 100 parts nicotine, and 97 of 100 parts your 0mg/ml juice.

Say you have 120ml juice (your 97 parts), you have to add 120ml/97*3 = 3.71ml nicotine. Note that you will always dilute your juice, and there's nothing you can do about it (except buying stronger nicotine, which you probably shouldn't).

If you did the math right and your juice tastes like ass, the nicotine is probably bad. I bought bad nicotine from ecig express once and I had the same issue, very peppery taste and didn't know what was going on. But since I switched to Liquid Barns stuff, I never had issues.

Don’t give him shit. They’re great people, I’ve been a customer of them in their AU store for nearly 2 years. Just bummed out that something happened with the nic either if it’s stale or idk something went wrong. I seemed to do everything right. I’ll let them steep. I jus hope I haven’t fucked all my VE juices from the double up sale that’s all
