Weekly 'What are you vaping?' Thread - Week of December 10, 2018
submitted almost 7 years ago by c5b4c91772c729fc7d0a

This thread is for you to share what you are vaping lately, be it your own or another mixers recipe. Maybe you happened to stumble upon your new ADV in the December Recipes Thread? Or did someone recommend your first mix to you in the Suggest a recipe for my flavors Thread

Share what you liked or didn't like too much, but most importantly, please make sure to properly link to the recipe and to the mixer if they're on reddit.

If you need some inspiration, some websites keep track of your mixes and batches: e-Liquid Recipes and All The Flavors.

Also make sure to checkout last week's thread for inspiration or to follow up on a mix that turned out even better after a week of steeping!

Happy Vaping!

I'm finally trying 007 Cola by /u/alfredpudding. After I finish it, I'll probably take some time gathering the words for a thorough review of it to post on ATF. One of those words will likely be "masterpiece." If Mr. Pudding had bet me money they could make a cola recipe better than any single cola flavoring out there and do it without using any cola flavorings, I would have lost some money. It tastes like someone is showing off either an abundance of talent, a ridiculous amount of work, incredible luck, or some combination of those. I'd really like to hear from anyone who has already played with this recipe. Have you added a cherry flavor to make a cherry cola? Additional FA Vanilla Bourbon or a different vanilla to make a vanilla coke? Some combination of caramel/almond/cherry to get into the ballpark of Dr. Pepper? Something else to make it more like your favorite craft cola? I'm trying to figure out whether this recipe might be as important as it is awesome. Like, someone made a tasty authentic cola from scratch, that's an astoundly neat trick, but should I dump out all my FA Cola and LB Cola Freeze and just make a one-shot of 007 to use as my go-to cola flavoring from now on?

I've also tried a bunch of tropical punch and other tropical blends this week for FOTW. Bottom line there is we need someone do to for Hawaiian Punch exactly what Alfred has done for Cola.

None of the "red" ones I tried were very good. Some were very bad. I'm not talking about my personal preference here. I mean these things are riddled with horrible offensive off-notes. The "orange" ones (leading with pineapple, citrus, papaya, mango, some coconut - without any artificial red cherry flavor like Hawaiian Punch) were much better.

Thank you so much for the compliments, and for taking the time to write this comment. While I absolutely love to hear about people enjoying my creations, there's something even more exciting in reading the inspirations that come from it. I've had so many people tell me they are going to use my base to make flavored Cokes, candies, and other sodas like Dr. Pepper or their favorite local craft soda.

What you’ve been able to accomplish here is amazing. Thank you for sharing it. It’s pretty much been my ADV today with just a few samples of other things here and there. The more of it I enjoy, the more I’m thinking about finding the right ice cream base and going coke float.

My ADV lately is "Caramel custard crisp". Just like the rich cookie + caramel mix with the rounded custard note.

I've been on a bit of a tobacco hype recently.

Flavour | Percentage ---|---- Glory (FA) | 1.6% Black Fire (FA) | 0.5% Latakia (FA) | 0.4% Oakwood (FA)| 0.3%

I don't feel it's finished enough for the recipes thread but it's fairly good. Chocolate deep nutty flavours are everywhere with a mild smoked wood flavour underlying it. Latakia is a really weird flavour, by the smell of it I want to throw it away but without it this recipe wouldn't be what it is.

A nice break from fruits nonetheless.

I had an old ADV that used the Latakia, Black Fire, and Glory. It had a few other things in it that I probably wouldn’t put in there again, but I liked it back then. Have you tried INW 555 Gold? I used that in there, and it was a pretty nice compliment to the Glory. This also reminds me that I haven’t used Glory in a long time. Might try that sumbitch again.

I tend to really REALLY enjoy tobacco flavours for a month leading up to Christmas but then hate them the rest of the year. I'll pop 555 Gold on my to buy list if I need to pick anything up before mid January or wait until next year.

Glory was a bit of a shock to me, it's not overwhelmingly tobacco-esque but it has that depth of flavour that really reminds me of some of the hints I got smoking a pipe.

Any other flavours you'd recommend throwing in the mix or playing around with?

I just mixed up the recipe you posted and added 1.5% INW 555 Gold and .75% FE Captain (aka SC Old Captain.) I figured the 555 Gold would buddy up with the nutty aspect of Glory, and the Captain would add a bit of cocoa and other mystery flavors that are in it. Off the shake it isn’t too bad. Kind of takes me back to that old ADV I used to vape all the time. Been a while since I’ve used Latakia in anything, and now I sort of remember why, but at the same time it’s got this funkiness to it that keeps me interested.

I bumped up the Captain to about 1.5% because I couldn’t really taste it all that much. Not too bad now. I’d probably tweak some things for myself, but it’s pretty decent. Now I kinda want to try it without the Black Fire and Latakia.

But yeah, I think if you’re making an order and looking for some extras to throw in, 555 Gold and Captain would be some nice things to pick up. If not for this recipe, then at least for next Christmas season haha.

Vaping INW Cocopilada, and then also doing tests with it trying to boost either the coconut or pineapple or both. So far all I can say is, Holy Balls, people are not kidding when they warn you that FLV Coconut is strong. And I think I need to purchase another pineapple or 2 besides the CAP Golden Pineapple I have already.

And as always INW Mix Mint which I just need in my life every day. I dropped the percentage on it to 2% which is normal for most but I truly love it at 4 or 5 sometimes when I need to blast my face off for whatever reason. Still great though, just more mellow!

In a thread where I asked about fruit flavor bases mlNikon suggested inw pineapple with cap golden pineapple as a good combination.

I was just reading that thread and saw that; I was so glad you made that thread! I think I will order that INW and try that first. INW does fruits like nobody else imo.

There are so many INW pineapples (like everything they do, lol); last night I got so confused between them that I made a freaking chart. I kinda want one called Mississippi which is a pineapple and cream.

Note to anyone reading this for Cocopilada interest: when I added FLV Coconut (smallest amount, sorry no measure but it was a touch of an already diluted 2% solution and I was mixing in a tank half asleep and still in bed), that PINEAPPLE really started to come out.

DripHacks Blue Slush. It's been steeping a week and I cracked it open before. Sweet Raspberry and Blueberries with no Koolada.

been vaping the newest version of that hazelnut biscuit thing that I'd posted in a comment recently. Newest version has coconut and almond in it. The bottles aren't lasting long enough to steep. Posted it up in the recipe thread https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/a2803u/december_2018_recipe_thread/ebobon6

Found an old package of El Toro Virginia Prime in my vaping stuff, a particularly good tasting natural tobacco liquid from UK, but too much for the coils I was using back then which would gunk up after a few ml. The stuff must be 4 years old... Instead of tossing it out I thought I'd give it a try on the new Innokin Zenith Plexus 0.5ohm mesh coils to see if that works and also do an experiment in e liquid life span, which noone seems to know much about. So far it works! flavour is good and the nic hit (25mg!) is so strong that a couple of puffs is enuf for quite some time, maybe I'll mix it with something a bit less OT such as my new cream mix. Hope it isn't poisonous, but am still alive at the time of writing this post...

2.0 HS Blueberry

1.25 FLV Boysenberry

0.5 FA Bilberry

Tossed together in a hurried scramble to have something new for the day. Turned out pretty good. A few days later and it's still good.

Mixed this for the SO's pod system:

2.5 FLV Kentucky Blend

1.5 FLV Red Burley

2.0 FLV Oriental

She liked it, but percentages could've been upped all around.

Gonna whip up something soon with Forest Fruit and some creams. Thinking:

3.5 FA Forest Fruit

1.0 FLV Cream

1.0 FA Cream Fresh

And then either 2.0 TFA VBIC or maybe some LB Vanilla Ice Cream. TFA Vanilla Swirl? Perhaps some OOO Cream (milky undertones). Maybe none of them.

Sup, I threw this together a few days ago and have probably gone through a solid 100mls of it since then. It's pretty decent.

GG2EZ

  • FA Watermelon at 2.5%
  • FLV Watermelon at 1.5%
  • FA Strawberry at 2.5%
  • TPA Strawberry Ripe at 4%
  • FLV Wild Melon at 1%
  • CAP Super Sweet to taste (I use 2 drops per 20ml)
  • WS-23 to taste (I use about 0.75%)
  • Steep Time - Shake and Vape (best after an overnight steep)

FA Zeppola 4%

FA Joy 1%

TFA Double Chocolate (clear) 3%

TFA VBIC 3%

Cap Super Sweet 0.25%

And then a banana bakery RY4

TFA Bananas Foster 3%

FA Zeppola 2%

FA Joy 0.5%

TFA RY4 Double 5%

Cap Cinnamon Danish Swirl 1%

Cap Vanilla Cupcake 2%
