Flavor West has a bunch of terpenes extracts, which supposedly taste like specific weed strains. I'm just curious if anyone has used them before? What percentage do you use to make a flavor?
I like weed as much as the next guy, but the flavor itself isn't exactly something that I would look for without the high. That being said, when I smoked weed, to me weed was weed and it's not like I could even remotely tell the difference between one strain from another.

Most likely because it came from black markets which weren't focusing on terpene content but looks and price instead. Look at the latest research, terpenes have a huge effect on the high. We've come a long way from just labeling buds indica or sativa (they're all hybrids anyway). Any good brand is now putting the terpine profile right next to THC and Cannabanoid levels.
No but might check them out.. it's actually pretty easy to DIY if you have full lab results from a strain you like. I'd probably prefer doing it myself with individual terpenes like Myrcene and Limonene etc..
Percentages will vary wildly, very little though.. nowhere near the amount you would use with flavouring.
They are more suited for CBD e-liquid really as they work in synergy with certain cannabinoids etc..
Have you got a link so I can look at them?
https://www.flavorwest.com/terpenes.html
TFA also has a number of sections of terpenes on their site, https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-249-terpenes-oil-soluble-flavors.aspx
and then they also have this new site that's focused on them:
https://www.theflavoredherb.com/
(I haven't tried ANY of these, I was just looking at them recently)
Nice. Yeah I saw TFA doing it as well. TBH both companies i trust and both will be able to supply wholesale amounts. I'm still learning about and playing around with terpenes but it's really not hard to send a bit of weed off for testing and get the full terpene profile. Most strains will have lots in, maybe 10-15 or so.. I'm keen to replicate the profile from strains I actually like.
Pretty much all the couch lock type strains have a lot of Myrcene in, up to 0.5% in some cases. I need to do more research but we are in a much better place than when the only option was the totally unrealistic "Mary Jane" from TFA that tasted like burnt ass... a lot of these terpenes, even on their own have certainly got therapeutic effects.
Thanks for the links.
Genuine question: I read your debate above, as well, and I'm not sure what you're creating in a mix. Are you creating profiles based on how different strains taste? Like maybe a pipe-tobacco like flavor, but it's weed?
Also, are you saying there are effects just from terpenes by themselves, so mixing terpenes into an E-Juice will have an effect?
This is interesting to me.
I'm curious about them, but not curious enough to buy them at that price just to check them out.. (rough average $20/5 ml, iirc).
But I just got in some TFA Mary Jane, which I haven't played with yet, but smells like juniper? gin? pine? hops? to me... I don't and din't expect it to be like weed, but an interesting plant flavor, which I think it'll be. It's artificial, but it's cheap, and it smells terpene-family-y to me.
There's also FA Reggae Nights, which I believe is alleged to be in the same ballpark. Haven't tested that one either yet (hope to do both next week) but the reviews make it sound similar to me.
TFA reports their "Kona" coffee flavor also adds a certain skunky aspect, for those who enjoy that. Here's their text on TFA MJ, and mentioning Kona:
"Mary Jane Flavor Water soluble.
This flavor was 6 months in development, and is a fairly close approximation of the flavor of cannabis.
We want to stress that it is an artificial blend that contains no active ingredients, just flavor. We have had feedback about ways to experiment with this one, try adding a little vanilla, and if you're looking for that "skunk cabbage" note, try adding a little of the Kona Coffee."
edit: here's the component list on that Mary Jane; got a few terpenes in there: https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/componentlist.aspx?sku_search=342698
edit2: I just realized you might need to be signed into a wholesale account to view that link; here's the data from it:

TFA has terpenes made to match a bunch of strains now. Was thinking about trying them out. I've had shatter with added terpenes that was absolutely disgusting, and others that were amazing and have been wondering if any of the brands we're familiar with ended up in those
Edit: anyone know where to buy straight myrcene and linalool?

TFA sells isolated terpenes as well
I haven't tried them yet, primarily because the CO2 oil I use to make my vapes already have terpene additives in them. Most extracts do, actually, which is why they still have strain names.
The CBD and THC is generally so pure in a commercial extract that they're indistinguishable from each other, and flavorings are added afterwards.
I likely won't need any of these until I start making my own extract, but I'm glad to see existing, trusted brands get into the space.

This.
The prices look high but it goes 20-40+ times further than flavouring concentrates in many cases. In the UK people are selling 1ml for £10 on most websites, in some cases £13 for 1ml.
After some more research I'll probably buy as much as I can without going over the limit that will cause import tax, make multiple similar orders and then sell them for half the price of the greedy people in my country.
Make them more accessible to the masses.
Well that kinda sucks right? Incriminate yourself(in some states) and give probable cause in a traffic stop, without actually getting high.
My thoughts, as well.
Would anyone comment on the usefulness of these or why you are inclined to include Terpenes in your E-Juice? Seriously interested.
Well I love how sunset sherbert tastes and figured itd be fun to experiment with and see if I can make a vape juice with that flavor profile, and if that works try some other strains.
I make eliquid for a living, and I love weed. Why not combine the two and have some fun? And if any flavors turn out good I can sell them to my customers.
Guys, it's Flavor West.
They are synthetic terpenes at low cost. If you're going for taste (?), ok, go for it. But if you are going for the actual terpenes and their benefits, you want a place that specializes in actual plant extracted terpenes.
You realise that they are not actually synthetic and isolated compounds are isolated compounds. Myrcene is Myrcene, Limonene is Lemonene.. extracting them from cannabis is expensive and completely pointless.
They are found in many things, not just weed.
