Hey guys, I have been mixing for about a month now and I love it. But I have a question about nicotine river, since i hate buying nic in 10 mil bottles, and you can't get nic salts above 20 mg in EU.
But what is the difference in PurNic, Smooth salts, and Hit Salts. I dont really understand it, and if I buy salts in 100 mg instead of 48 mg do is need to use less also dilluting the flavor less?
Thanks!
I like my juice to not have any throat hit, so I either use straight salt or mix salt with freebase (mostly because I have some older freebase that I need to use up).
PurNic is nicotineriver's freebase nicotine brand. This is the same stuff that has been used in e-liquid for years.
Smooth salts is their salt line, and the biggest difference between it and PurNic is the lack of throat hit. There are also claims out there about bio-availability and how it crosses the blood-brain barrier quicker than freebase (NR's website makes this claim), but I haven't noticed a difference compared to the same strength juice mixed with freebase. The biggest difference that I see is throat hit.
In my experience it is just fine to mix Smooth Salt like you would regular nicotine in your juice; it works just fine for me in 3mg - 6mg juice that I vape with a dual coil RDA. No adjustment to the recipe needed. Because it is so smooth you can mix it at much higher concentrations. I also make 30mg juice that I run in either a refillable pod or a tiny, restricted MTL tank. 30mg of freebase would be harsh. High concentration mixes are where salts shine, and, yes, salt juice at 30 or even 50 mg gives you a big nicotine rush. It is nice when I'm around kids and want to sneak away for a second to satisfy a craving or when I'm in a crowd and want to be polite by not blowing huge clouds.
I've never tried Hit Salts. According to NR website, it is salt form nicotine with throat hit. That isn't what I personally want from my salt. I guess if you like throat hit and feel like you are getting something else out of salts, then this would be for you.

Edit: If you are intending to mix at high concentrations, get your salt in a 50/50 base. If you are mixing 30mg juice with 15% total flavoring, and your nic is 100% PG, then the final mix is 45% PG without adding any extra PG. If you are mixing 50mg juice, then you are already at 65% PG without adding extra. Starting off with nic in a 50% VG / 50% PG base makes it possible to control the VG/PG ratio in high concentration mixes.
Thanks for your reply!
What strenght do you recommend, the 48 - 100 - 250. Because I am thinking the more nic the less I have to dillute it and the more flavor I get. I also am not show how much nic I need because I use 6mg freebase so i thought about 30-35 mg salts in a mtl atty like the berseker mtl rta
The strength of the nicotine solution isn't important. The only thing that matters is the strength of the final, mixed juice.
I think 100mg is good. NR only sells 250mg nicotine solution in 500ml bottles and larger. That is a lot of nicotine for just personal use. I'm not sure if there is any difference in oxidation rates for salt, but unless you are a nicotine fiend or are mixing for more than just you, a half liter of 250mg nicotine will be around for a long time. 100 mg is good because it isn't so diluted that you are just adding flavor to the nic base for a high strength batch, which lets you control the PG/VG ratio in your mixes.
If you want to try high strength mixes, maybe start with a small batch at 30mg. You can always up it if you find you aren't getting the desired nic rush. I vape 5mg with a cloud chucker and 30mg in a pod; that works pretty well for me.
