Yes it will take a few days. I still enjoy premade sauce, but some people have a hard time going back after DIY for a length of time, and premade just tastes sickeningly sweet. I personally love sweets and vaping helps me stay off eating too much sugar, so for me it's probably a different case. But yes you will adjust 😁

Awesome! Good to hear.

I bought Propagandas Blue slushee from a local shop. It doesn’t have sweetener listed under ingredients, very little. I loved it and it made me mix up some juice this morning.

I completely understand that!!

Looking forward to truly enjoying the world of DIY. Never really stuck with it, but now I am!

Appreciate the help.

I can second this, I hate overly sweet, "premium" juices now and I used to love 12 monkeys, now it's almost stomach turning

Google "vaper's tongue" for tricks (there's lots out there). For me it's black coffee.

You can also steep your diy juice. If you have a mix that works well but not quite enough you can increase the flavors (adjust all together).

You will not only adjust, your mixes will get better and better as they age, too. I had the same problem and I was happy but it just wasn't the same, but the first time a bottle sat for a few days without me touching it, and I returned to it, I was like "oh, okay!"

Good luck!

Since you're jumping into the world of DIY I suggest finding a pallet cleanser juice to make Peppermint, Wintergreen, Spearmint, Menthol and the famous Inawera Eucalyptus and Mint. Either use it solo maybe toss in a fruit or find a recipe on ATF or ELR.

I always have some loaded up in a pod to use especially before testing and it's great this time of year to clear your sinuses.

Good idea! All I really have right now is CAP cool mint. Might give that a go!

Yikes, you mean compare everything to a minty blend post hit?

Yes, you get used to it, but for me atleast it made me dislike most store bought brands, they end up tasting too sweet once you get used to your own smoother recipes. I’ve noticed for me the transition is easier with creamier recipes, you can get more milder sweetness without the sucralose or stevia.

Been doing the DIY for a year and a half or so and I'm pretty turned off by super-sweet juices now. Definitely think you'll adjust.

Also worth mentioning that if you decided you really like supersweet juices, it's very easy to add sweetener.

Try adding a little bit of yogurt or other creams to your recipes to add body and mouth feel. I find Capellas yogurt to not be a coil gunker in low amounts and adds a nice body and richness. It's really the candy tobacco and bakery flavors that fuck up coils.

You will adapt and start to enjoy the flavors more.

While it applies to vaping, I learned this from food/drink.

Several years ago I cut out all sugary beverages and all foods with added sugars. Or, well, as much as I could anyway...it's everywhere.

In the beginning I hated it, everything was boring and muted. After a short while though I noticed not only did things start tasting better, or more like they should, but that I also started picking up flavors that'd been lost due to such high sugar content overwhelming everything.

Now I can't stand sugary beverages, and only minimally enjoy sugary foods. Everything not homemade it just too cloying. The same applies to vaping liquid.

After my initial mixing craze when I started DIY, I got tired of all my recipes and went on on 70vg/30pg menthol-only juice for about a week to reset myself. Then I made two simple sweetener-free juices; one a mix of TFA and CAP cucumbers, and one just TFA cranberry, both with menthol. The TFA Cranberry at 7%, with 8 drops menthol per 10ml (I am MTL vaper with a Berserker RTA, and that's probably too much for DTL), was the perfect remedy for my flavor-overload woes. It's now my ADV and has been for at least three months. Something about the simplicity has me always returning to it over the few complex recipes I stuck with.

However, the menthol still gunks my coils, so I can't win in that category. Going with less sweetener, or none, is something you adjust too quickly. The action of the vaping and the nicotine tends to be more important than the flavor if the flavor is soft. Going totally unflavored is quite comfortable and I would definitely recommend trying that for a while before getting back into flavors. You'll find that some flavors that you liked before are just "too much" or not so enjoyable, and can adjust and try other flavors.

This is super helpful! Thank you.

I just mixed up some CAP cool mint with some WS23, going to vape on this for awhile before I go back to complex flavors.

Also, you ever try WS23? Doesn’t seem to gunk my coils, though it doesn’t have the taste of menthol.

Ws-23 is a coolant it is in some toothpastes and mouthwash as well as a variety of other things. It is not menthol.

I know...Just thought it might be a good alternative for something that doesn’t gunk :)

I just replace any sweetener in a recipe with a bit of Ethyl Maltol. Goes add too much sweetness, but adds enough for me 90% of the time, and doesn't kill your coils.

i just vape some 70vg 30pg unflavored juice. seems to make flavors taste better after dripping it for a few hours
