I just want a menthol only flavour, what's the best way to go about it
submitted almost 7 years ago by SPNKxR

All,

I'm tired of flavours and dealing with sweetener gunk. I just wanna mix up some 6mg straight menthol flavour, in the hopes of prolonging coils and cotton but don't fancy going straight up plain. I'm used to strong fruity menthol, years back I bought a straight menthol and enjoyed it a lot but can't find it now.

What's the best additive for a plain menthol hit and am I right in assuming that it shouldn't gunk up my coils?

Menthol crystals + PG + VG + nicotine. Most people will put 1g crystals in 9ml of PG in a bottle and use that 10% concentration as a concentrate. Won't gunk up your coils as much as juice with sugar etc..

Probably this but if you want to have it as simple as drops, try flv cool menthol one drop per 15ml and work up to 3or 4 depending on how gosh darn mentholated you like it. Any menthol will work. Arctic winter, whatever. Some coolants don’t have menthol. Double check. Also, all the mints etc. just go easy if you try inw eucalyptus with mint. That stuff is intense.

Extreme Ice by FW was a nice one. Very strong, only need about 6% stand alone.

Yup forgot that one. And I don’t even know the mints but I think it was flavor of the week recently. Op can check the sidebar for that one

I want to end up with 250ml of e liquid. I'll get a litre of PG Base and want to end up with 40% PG in the final juice. So how many grams of menthol crystal would I add to the litre of Base for this use case?

I’ve never used the crystals but that’s some straight math. Use an online calculator like eliquidrecipes alltheflavors or steamengine or whatever and put 40/60 pg/vg. You can make a large batch of base with nic and just make some small bottles to start by dissolving crystals in a 10ml at a time. That way if it’s too strong you just double the volume and it’s cut in half strength. Keep doing that until you figure out how you like it. That’s my lazy way of figuring it out.

You’ll need a scale.

FW extreme ice 2-5% depending on how cool you want it INW eucalyptus mint .25%

This is my adv. it’s cold and refreshing. My cotton stays white for quite a long time.

Just heads up, there's a lot of wintergreen flavor in extreme ice; it may not be exactly what you're looking for (but maybe!). Some people find it too "toothpaste"-y. I like it but got pretty sick of it after a couple weeks heavy use.

Can't go wrong mashing up some menthol crystals imo, and it's dirt cheap as well.

I still don't know how many grams of menthol crystals I'd need to make 250ml of straight menthol flavour, as in g per ml.

I do a straight peppermint at 10%. My coils last forever and it’s so simple making up large batches.

What peppermint do you use and do you get decent coil life? Ive not long transitioned back to MTL with the Geekvape Ammit MTL RTA, just want the simple life really now tbh. Gentle clouds, round wire and coil friendly Juice.

I’ve been vaping for years but I’m not an expert and haven’t really kept up on all the new gear. When I was using pro tank coils and re-wicking with cotton, the coils would last months and I’d just rewick the cotton about monthly. Now I have a smok device and I’m not really even sure what the tank and coil is called. I used it for over a year before I thought to replace the coil with the spare that came with it. Admittedly, after a year, the coil did look gunky inside, but it still worked just fine.

Once I found a juice that worked for me, I just stuck to it. I mostly have used TFA peppermint but cap cool mint was ok too. I mix 16oz a condiment type bottle and refill a small bottle for on the go. I use 100% vg bases. It’s cool and smooth, leaves no odor, and is clear in my tank. It’s a super easy 3 ingredient mix that takes under 5m once or twice a year.

Holy crap!!! A year on a smok coil inconceivable. I bet it was nasty as hell by that time must not have been your only device.

Vurve I think made a recipe called qebui's gust, tho this is more mint than menthol. Personally not a huge fan of menthol as a flavor profile (feels like you're vaping vicks), but it can work as an accent. This is super cold and I used this when I had colds to help clear up my sinuses. https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/33598

it's far back in my history somewhere but I've been vaping menthol juices for 5+ years now. I make 2k ml batches going 5% tfa menthol and 5% tfa koolada. 80pg/20vg 3g nic

3% tfa menthol 3mg nic. good throat hit and enjoyable. 5% tfa menthol is insane, add 5% koolada and your throat is on fire. I dont get how you can vape that, I thought 3% tfa menthol was already super strong madman

I honestly couldn't explain it to you. I experimented with up to 7% menthol and koolada but found 5% to be my sweet spot. I always smoked menthol cigarettes and moved to menthol only vaping. 28w with a 0.5ohm coil in an Atlantis tank. you get used to it.

I just made a batch of some just menthol. It was 70/30 PG/VG and 3% menthol (10% pg solution) at 3mg strength. The sweetness from the VG seemed to really round the menthol out in the mix. It's probably going to be my go to straight menthol eliquid.

If you vape store bought menthol fruity juices they can often be the worst for sweetener which is the real coil clogger. If you think ditching fruit in your menthol juice will make much of a difference it won't do much. Get a very concentrated fruit like bilberry at 0.5-1%, lime, or raspberry clear at 1-2% and enjoy yourself. Your saving loads with DIY anyways, the difference it will make saving coils and cotton if you ommit these is penny pinching so just enjoy your vape.

>I would only maybe recommend this to friends in CUBA with little access

I mix really cool Spearmint and 0.4% sweetener. I’m still trying to work out the details of the flavor to perfectly mimic Wrigleys Spearmint gum, but my coils last a month @20 mil/day Tobeco Super Tank with .2 coils at 40 watts. It’s an Icy hit!!

TFA Creme de Menthe 10%.

If you're sick of vaping on listerine flavors then this is an awesome sweet mint.

I buy all my stuff in the UK from Vapable, and get their plain menthol flavour in 100ml bottles.

I mix it at about 10%, no other flavour. Tastes great.
