After lurking here for almost 3 years I finally pulled the trigger and placed my first order.
submitted almost 7 years ago by iLynxMixologist

As the title says I finally placed my first order of flavorings and basic supplies to start mixing my own flavors. It looked overwhelming but after countless hours of reading and watching videos it doesn’t seem that bad. This sub is great! Thanks in advance for all the questions I will have whenever my supplies come.

Now I just need to experiment with different recipes.

Please include a few words with your emoji response. I'm an adult so I have no fucking clue what that's supposed to mean.

Nice. I'm waiting until payday to place my first order. I found 3 recipes that I'm going to try to make. The cost was surprising, for everything. The most expensive thing is the scale, and that's not even super expensive.

Which 3 recipes did you choose?

Clone of Honey Pearry

6.5% pear

3.5% strawberry

3.5% honeydew melon

(all tfa)

Clone of Seduce Juice- Snake Oil

Bavarian cream (TFA) 8%

Pear (TFA) 5%

Coconut Extra (TFA) 1%

Shake and Vape:

Harvest Berry(CAP) 6%

Tuti Fruti(FA) 4%

Blackberry(TFA) 4%

The first two came from reddit, and the third came from DIY Vaping channel on youtube.

I vaped the hell out of that Honey Pearry clone many years ago. Great mix, brings back memories.

> Blackberry(TFA) 4%

That's a lot. It's a pretty potent flavor. I tested it at 3% solo (too much) and it wouldn't leave my wicks long after. It may be a great recipe though. Just a heads up, it's strong.

That shake and vape recipie does seem like an older recipie, maybe try the tuti fruti at 2% and blackberry at closer to .75% to 1%

by MasterBeernutsalmost 7 years agoMixologist

Last recipe suggestion:

  • CAP Harvest Berry 3-4%
  • FA Tuti Fruti 2-3%
  • TFA Blackberry 0.5-0.75%
  • FW Blackberry 2-3%

Could also try FA Forest Fruit instead of CAP Harvest Berry, and adding some WS-23.

Welcome! Don‘t worry, mixing is really not that hard. Essentially you put an empty bottle on your scale, calculate the weight you need for each ingredient and put it in the bottle.

After the first few times, the only „hard“ thing is what flavours you use in which mix and percentages, meaning the recipe itself. The rest is easy!

Also, you‘ll be surprised how good your self-made liquids taste - at least I was. They were better than I thought - and better than anything I‘ve ever bought AND it doesn‘t even cost me 1/5th-1/10th compared to buying liquid.

Have fun!

It really isn't that bad. Quite easy in fact, and so damned cheap. I can make 600ml for $50. That's a good deal. $12 for 100ml instead of $50 in the store. I'll take it.

huh? that seems rather high

Canada. Everything costs more :)

by sadistic_tendenciesalmost 7 years ago

okay. just did a quick search and estimate on the broke vapor because that's the only Canadian vendor I could remember and still not even half what you say it costs you. Still higher than us below you but not 12 bucks a 100ml. maybe find a better vendor.

Try in Australia :(

by probywan1337almost 7 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

Even for Canada that seems like a lot?

I've always been intrigued by this. Would you mind pointing to your favourite resources for learning?

I read so many threads on this sub, read the sidebar and googled which can lead down a rabbit hole. Diy or die is a website that has some information.

Before I placed my order I went through the flavors I really liked and tried to find clones of them. E-liquid-recipes is awesome for recipes also. I picked 2 off of there to try. (Bust-a-nut and Pink Lemonade).

Hahas, I've read a fair bit on this sub but am just concerned on whether I actually have read anything useful for beginners. I was curious if you had a reference to a guide which easily clarified things for you..

Great! Good luck! What are you starting with?

This is what I got flavor wise. My full time job is in the medical field and have access to gloves and more syringes if need be. I ordered my nic from wizard labs. 48mg strength in a VG base.

I am trying to make a sour patch kids clone and found a recipe I want to try that’s why I ordered the flavors I ordered.

Have you been vaping but buying juice this whole time?

2 points

by iLynxalmost 7 years agoMixologist

Yup. Been vaping almost 4 years!

Holy cow that must have cost a fortune. I’m new as well, but when I decided to quit smoking and vape, I did the same as you. Just soaking up knowledge. Buying juice didn’t make sense because of the cost, so dove right into mixing. One year smoke free and I vape for about $0.30 per day. Never looking back. Congrats on your decision to mix. It’s incredibly easy. I can make a batch in 5 mins. The cost will come back when you start buying flavors. That’s where the expense is.

Edit. Make sure you buy VG by the gallon. It should last about a year and cost ~$25.00. I order mine from Amazon.

Depends. What I usually do is buy juice on big holiday sales and stock up. There is a vape shop here in Phoenix that does a juice of the month where it’s 180ml for $9.99. Some of the flavors are good and worth it, others are not. But they are so cheap it’s worth always picking up!

Can I get PG from Amazon also?

Did you spend all these countless hours researching and then literally just miss the amazing Black Friday sales?

3 points

by iLynxalmost 7 years agoMixologist

No I got the sales. I ordered from bull city and wizard labs for nic. I was gonna use nicriver but no Black Friday sales.

This post feels very useless then. Not trying to be mean but this isn't really a social sub, you didn't ask any questions or even scratch the surface of what you ordered. You didn't even recently order anything lol. Not even sure why you'd post. Probably best to avoid this in the future.

I ordered on Monday and posted on Tuesday that’s recent. Not sure why you would even click and comment just to try and be negative. Probably best to avoid this in the future.
