Capella vanilla custard tast bad/chemical
submitted almost 7 years ago by k4win

Hi guys, just a question for a single flavor. I bought the CAP vanilla custard v1 in search for great vanilla tast. Manufacturer recommendation is 5 to 10% as a mix ratio. So I set it on with 10% in a 50/50 base.

After 5 weeks of steeping time it's tast like a nice custard but there is barely any vanilla in it. After vaping about 3 ml I get a chemical tast all over my mouth. Similar to the feeling after you brush your teeth.

What could be wrong? Is 10% to much?

Edit: cap vanilla custard v1

I'm one of the few who don't like CAP vanilla custard at all, V1 or V2. A lot of people like it, so that's just me. But I can't vape many juices with CAP Vanilla Custard in it. Only at low percentages, like 2%.

I don't think I would call it a chemical note. It's just so buttery, but in a bad way. Not sure how to describe it.

If you want a nice vanilla vape, check out DIY Vapors Pudding v2, or Alfred's Pudding recipes.

I’ve only tried V2 and I get a rough taste out of it. Just very abrasive. So it must be an uncommon sensitivity to one of the ingredients in it. Also get the same sensation from TPA VBIC.

The highest I use it at is 4%, I also add 2% cap french vanilla and 2% cap vbic. I'd think that 10% is really, really high.

I've never Vaped it solo though so I could be wrong, I doubt it, but I could be.

If you’re gonna go 10%, I’d add some ethyl maltol at like 1-2%

10% may be too much as a stand alone. I do use a recipe that uses 10% but also uses some French vanilla, some butter to help it out. Cap v custard is predominantly custard, so you will definitely need to add some more vanilla to it.

I have vanilla custard v1 but I never tried it on its own, only bought it to make This. Not a huge dessert person, just that Cuttwoods Unicorn Milk was one of the first liquid I ever tried, so I had to make it.

I always use the max amount of flavor I think I can enjoy, and with this flavor 2% is very high. I will literally use up to 25% on some recipes.

10% is a lot. I think cap vc is best at providing that mouth coating egginess, but doesnt provide the best vanilla flavor. As well, it takes me nearly 2 months to get the flavor to steep to where i ideally like it. Id get some cap vanilla cupcake and team them up for a more vanilla forward custard. Cap van custard @ 2-3% and cap vanilla cupcake @ 1-2% would be great. Additionally can include 1-2% TFA vanilla custard or bavarian cream for a more buttery note.

Just a little pro tip, you should mix at the median and try variations in small batches before posting thread. You generally get away with less flavoring overall when total pg is 25% or more. Bavarian cream is an English custard, so it blends nicely, add a little tfa vanilla bean ice cream for good measure and vanilla never gets lost in the cream. The three togeather don't even need steeping, daily agitation over a short period is often better than steeping over long periods. Avoid hot baths for these profiles and do your best to keep them out of direct sunlight or inside a hot car, but body heat is fine. Try vaping hot and cool too.
