As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week's flavor is... ICE CREAM!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested. If you're not interested in this FOTW, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

/u/ID10-T is on vacation this week and thinking up an ice cream pun was way more difficult than I expected. When it came time to post it, I froze... got stuck on something about Sundae School, wrote one that was way too long about Remembering the a la mode and then just gave up. It was a rocky road to failure but this will probably be the last time I try to be punny for FOTW.
Thanks for taking such good care of FOTW for me!
Did you mix up all your ice cream testers before you left? You've got a lot of flavors to try before the show ;)
Can I ask a stupid question? 😂😩. Where are those cartoons u guys post for the FOW and ALF recipe art? Where do they come from iow? I’ll probably be sorry I asked...or at least everyone else will be once I find out 😬....;)

Here is a banana milkshake recipe that I made. Hopefully I will get the formatting right. This is my first recipe that I've shared here.
4% banana cream(clear) LA
1.5% banana foster TPA
1% butter cream CAP
1% Graham cracker v1 CAP
1% marshmallow TPA
3% vanilla bean icecream TPA
.5% super sweet CAP
I usually always make this 70/30 vg/pg. I also like to give it 5 days to come together but will work as a S&V.

I've never made an ice cream vape before but want to start working on a good milkshake vape! Anywhere I should start with locking up flavors? Or I'm in the wrong thread for that.
/u/matthewkocanda wrote a post for Modest Monday long ago about creating a milkshake base https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/52goeu/modest_monday_milkshakes/
I use:
- TFA VBIC 4% (much more can be nasty)
- TFA Bavarian Cream 2%
- FA Fresh Cream 1%
- stevia to taste
May as well do testers and match ratios to your pallette 👌
I make a jug of this at 5x strength, steep, then shake/vape with VG and a fresh top flavor (berries etc). Reasoning is that creams tend to get better and fruits tend to lose their punch over time. Especially with high EM flavors like the below.
Most recent:
- TFA Strawberry Ripe 5.5%
- TFA Acai 1.5%
- INW Raspberry 0.75% (malina)
Note: if you use Stevia for sweetener, get pure steviol glycosides. Tons of brands use fillers as this stuff is very potent
Interesting. So wait, are you making the flavors in advance, then adding VG later? I've been making the flavors, adding the nic, shaking them adding VG.
EDIT: I mix 100% VG I don't like a throat hit but I use a PG nic to help carry the flavor a bit.
I've long believed that pg carrying flavor better is a myth. Is it possible this stems from the difference in viscosity serving as a catalyst in the steeping process almost? I always found frequent and vigorous agitation to be far more important than lengthy steeping. Seems it would be easier for the flavor to evenly fill the container it is contained within if it's thinner.
Haven't mixed it yet but this is my next ice cream recipe:
- LB Vanilla Ice Cream - 2%
- HS French Vanilla Ice Cream - 0.75%
- FLV Cream - 0.75%
- CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream - 0.75%
- WS-23 1.25%
- FA Polar Blast - 1.25%
- CAP Super Sweet - 0.25%
Obv add the WS-23/Polar Blast/sweetener to taste. This might be nice with a healthy splash of VT Choc Milk, or maybe a little bit of FLV Creme De Menthe.. or both.
Anyone know what I can do with TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream? It taste more like caramel/rum or something to me every which way I have tried it.
I always made kings cream without bubblegum and with vanilla bean ice cream I always say start low and go up with this one becuse it's a shake and vape that doesn't steep well, but it's amazing. I stocked up on the original red when there was speculation it would be discontinued so maybe it's just the red that doesn't steep well. It really should be vaped within 7 days, but gosh ia it a old fav.
>2% VBIC 5% max. 7% LA watermelon 12% max.
>I prefer 2.5% VBIC. 11% LA WM.
Its not really an authentic ice cream, but it ls made with vanilla bean ice cream lols.
Can I sub TFA/CAP VBIC for LB vanilla Ice Cream? I recently bought it due to the hype (lol) but now I'm uncertain where I can use/replace TFA/CAP VBIC.
Yes for sure you can - I prefer LB Vanilla Ice Cream. For me, TFA is peppery and CAP just doesn't float my boat any more.
Depends what you're substituting it for. LB VIC plus FLV Vanilla Pudding at 8:1 is a great S&V custard base - IMHO better than INW Custard and not requiring any steep - and TPA VBIC can't go there at all. It's a significantly different flavour from most other VBICS - more of an ice milk than an ice cream. If you're not a pepper taster, it's good, but it's not quite the same kind of flavour as LB, CAP or FW.
