This is part of project I agreed to take on after it was pointed out that so many of the resources in sidebar and wiki are ancient. The idea is, rather than revising them myself, I'd post them here once per week to gather feedback on how to improve them. They belong to all of us, everyone should have a say in what they say.
Reminder: Don't forget to nominate and vote to update the first order flavors list and suggested recipes using those flavors:
After the first order flavors, this Throwback Thursday thing seems to have mostly run its course. But maybe that's just because it's only me looking for things to fix. Please, if you see something that needs to be added, subtracted, or updated in the sidebar or wiki, take a moment to point it out now. If it's something simple like a broken link that needs to be removed or repaired, I'll fix it. If it's a project like some of the previous Throwback topics, we'll tackle it together on upcoming Thursdays.
Thanks, everyone!
Happy Mixing!
In the beginners guide the kits and sites to buy from links are fairly outdated.
My big suggestion: make the FOTW archive easier to access; with the wealth of info in each post (links to recipes, differing opinions in comment threads about uses of certain flavors/off flavors, etc) I feel like they'd make prime browsing for newcomers if it was more obvious than going to the wiki then fotw link?
FOTW is now where it belongs in the sidebar. I've also been working on rebooting the old "Verified Vendors" list as just a list of Vendors with an indication as to which ones are "Verified" and I'll be sure to update the kits page as I go through vendors and find them.
Good suggestions. Thanks :)
Brilliant - thanks!
Edit: it hasn't appeared on the new(?) version (Resources tab).
The 2 pages I frequent the most are Flavor Reviews and Flavor of the Week. I always have these tabs open (along with ATF) when I'm researching for recipes. It would be great to have FotW on the sidebar (perhaps under Flavor Reviews?). As it is now you have to go through either the Wiki link or the Flavor Reviews link to see it on the sidebar. These 2 (albeit minor) steps may lead to people not realising it's there.
Does it depend on whether or not you're viewing Reddit in old/new format?
