CAP Powerful Sour, Tart Cherry, Tangy Orange
submitted almost 7 years ago by Vapouround-ned

Has anyone tried these yet? They've recently landed on my desk to try out, and I'm yet to mix them up.

My previous experiences with "sour" additives haven't been overly impressive. Looking at the spec sheet, "Powerful Sour" appears to be a mix of PG, lactic acid and citric acid. I don't think I've seen lactic acid in an enhancer before, but could well have missed it elsewhere.

The Tart Cherry contains citric acid, and also some "trade secrets", and there's no SDS for Tangy Orange on the Capella site just yet.

In any case, I'll get some samples mixed up this week!

I don’t have them but I think it’s fortunate you have 3 different ‘sour’ flavors and you’ll be able to try them side by side and compare, please do let us know how they stand up....;)

I'm most interested in the cherry. Anytime we get another useable cherry is a good day.

Wait aren't there any good cherries?

Cherry is tough because to most of the USA it's the taste of cough medicine. So anything that even strays remotely towards that type of "cherry" flavoring it's cough medicine through and through and that seems to be what a LOT of the flavor notes around here say about most of the cherry concentrates. I think INW Cherries from concreteriver was like the only positive one. I'm trying to wrangle some cherries in a reasonable vape without crossing in to medicine territory, it will probably fail massively but it may also succeed, who knows...

For what it's worth, I've had a good time with INW cherries (a warm, dessert kind of cherry) and FA's Cherice (quite bitter, natural, not a standalone cherry).

Agreed though, lots of cherries have a "medicinal" vibe :/

Whenever I want a decent/non medicinal cherry, I use fa marzipan.

Never associated cherry to a medicine flavor until my first trip to the US where I got sick after the flight and my Walgreens purchase not only helped me a lot, but also made a lot of cherry products unenjoyable for me from there on. Thanks for reminding me though, thought about trying a KiBa (Cherry Banana) recipe, but guess I will pass that.

There's a couple decent ones. Nothings truly great. You may like some others but most people just taste cough syrup or plastic.

One day, I'll crack the code. But INW Cherries, TFA Cherry Extract, TFA Cherry Blossom, and FA Marzipan will probably all play a role in a sweet cherry, like a maraschino flavor. For a more natural cherry, maybe a bit of Bilberry and no Marzipan, and changing the balance of the others. It's hard to be certain. The trick is avoiding plastic or Bacardi's White.

Curious why you mentioned Bilberry for it. I'm about to place a BCF cyber monday order and put FA Marzipan in my cart to try and give my cherry mix some more body. I'm curious if this one helps at all without going too far the wrong way. So far the mixture I have gives a good cherry nose, and only slightly off exhale, the problem is the middle is far to airy. It's missing something to give it a fuller taste. Trying to figure out how to solve that...

I'll report back - I also picked up FA's new "Posh Choc" at The UK Vaper Expo this weekend (all 10ml concentrates were £1...), I'll have to mix that up this week too!

Mmmmm, lactic acid!

We'll be tirelessly awaiting your review.

If anyone has TFA Cranberry around, it also has lactic acid. I actually got it with using it as 'tart' in mind, but I haven't tested it yet.

Any update on the Powerful Sour?

Hi there, I've been told by my superiors that since these will be included in a forthcoming publication, I have to wait until that's out to post any review - I do apologise!

No worries, can you just say if it gives a sour taste and/or sensation at least?

There is a sourness - the flavourings more of a bright tartness, the additive does seem to add some tartness, but not a sour sensation (as far as I'm aware this just isn't possible for vapour as it is with food).
