So I mixed up my first batch with nic after doing many with 0 nic so I didn’t waste any. I mixed at 6mg and the throat hit is wild. Way more than what I remember. Haven’t used 6 in about 3-4 weeks due to taking whatever my friends would give me for free (mostly 3) because of money issues. Should I really get a titration kit? I got purnic from nicotine river 48mg/ml in VG. What could the issue be?
> 48mg/ml in VG
VG is very thick. It's possible that you didn't mix it well enough and hit a hot spot with a higher concentration of nic. Be sure to shake the hell out of it before you mix with it. Unless you have some sensitivity to PG, it's best to get nic suspended in PG because it's thinner and much easier to mix.
In all of my pre-DIY purchase order research I didn't read up much on Nic in general. Once I ordered, I saw the tips about buying it suspended in PG and felt dumb lol. Will not make this mistake next time.

Is this hotspot thing really true? Have you (or anyone else) got active experience of this? I find it hard to believe, but I hear it everywhere.
It can certainly happen, but you have to be pretty damn lazy to not shake a batch properly.
I don't use freebase nic anymore, instead opting for all salts all the time, and part of the benefit is that you can warm your bottles before you shake them, which makes high vg stuff really easy to mix. Because nic salts are much more stable, they don't tend to appreciably oxidize when warmed for long enough to mix them.
Sounds like OP just used old freebase nic and it got spicy on him. That's normal.
6mg/ml is a bit high for subohm DTL. You probably just got used to not feeling the pain.
^This. Once I went down to 3mg/ml and now 1mg/ml I can't stand or enjoy higher concentrations anymore.
isn't it essentially homeopathic at 3mg/ml? I started out when cigalikes were the only device and remain on 24mg/ml. anything less than 16mg/ml and I can't notice the nic and vape just doesn't hit the spot.
No, with anything below an ohm 3 mg juice will still give you a pretty good amount. I just installed some aliens and the first few puffs gave me a nic rush.
When you’re vaping 10-20 watts on a 1.5 ohm coil yeah 18 mg is great, but when you’re vaping a .12 at 80+ watts you get a lot higher temps and more juice gets vaped. This is kind of a dumbed down explanation, I hope it helps.
You are used to 3 mg/ml and are wondering why 6 feels harsh?
I'd also wager a guess that you aren't shaking your nic prior to using it.
How on earth do you jump to that ridiculous conclusion? 🙄...your condescending atttude sucks!
6 doesn't sound that high, but if you are used to 0 and 3, it can feel harsh. Think about it, if you are using 3 and go to 6, you are doubling your nic. It's like going from 12 to 24.
This is true. I usually run 4.5. 3 feels a little empty or unsatisfying not in terms of getting my fix, but the throat hit. 6 is on the harsh side for me. It feels closer to a cig in that throat hit. I can only enjoy 6 with certain flavors like tobaccos, nuts, or alcohols.
Hot spots can exist, but if the supplier is competent they should achieve good dispersion. I have trouble imagining serious settling after that point barring impurities in the vg.
Hot spots in ones own mix... now that isn't surprising in the least. I imagine most of us that shake and vape and mix by manual shaking experience this to some degree.
Think that it’s normal for it to feel stronger. I normally vape a 0 nic but mix up and keep a bottle or two of 6 or 8mg around for when I’m having a bad day. Just to make my head spin. It takes your throat and few days to adjust back to nicotine and the throat hit lessens.
Vg nicotine is by far more difficult to thoroughly mix and more likely to have hot spots than PG based. It's also likely that your simply not as used to 6mg as you were before. If using vg though you really have to shake that shit like a crying baby, I'd type more but my arms are exhausted because my daughter was teething all night.
