Hi I think I’m struggling to get that fuller, juicyness, bold taste in my fruit mixes. I’m looking to perfect these juices. More%? Less%? Additions? What can I do?
Recipe 1:
Blackberry tfa 7% Peach juicy tfa 5% Sour tfa 1.5% Super sweet cap 1.5% Ws23 black ice 0.75%
Recipe 2:
Strawberry shisha IW 4% Strawberry ripe tfa 1.5% Strawberry sweet 1.5% Super sweet 0.5% Ice is optional or 0.50 to 0.75
Recipe 3:
Sweet tangerine cap 4% Sweet mango cap 5% Raspberry sweet 3% Super sweet 1.5 Ice optional or 0.25 to 0.75
Recipe 4:
Sweet mango cap 5% Pineapple sweet 2% Super sweet 1.5%
This recipe I’m really missing the mark. What I want is a very juicy balanced mango and pineapple. Maybe with a hint of something else to make it explode and pop with flavour
Recipe 5:
A more complex medley of fruits that burst flavour, juicyness, richness, fullness. Ideas??
If you can comment per recipe and brand of concentrate please.
Recipe 1, WTF? TFA blackberry @.75%, maybe. No way in hell it should be above 1%. And lose the juicy puke while you're at it. No point in torturing anyone with it. A little INW lemon mix will make the blackberry pop. Back it up with some FA Blackcurrant or INW Raspberry shisha or something good. And don't bother with sweetener while developing. Once you have a recipe as good as you can, then throw sweetener at it. And forget sour. It doesn't work well.
Recipe 2 is just hopeless.
Recipe 3 - Sweet tangerine can be a hitch, but it's tasty. Raspberry sweet is a fine ketchup flavor. Either cut it with one raspberry Malina or just use raspberry shisha. Avoid cap mango. Hell, avoid mango. Again, sweetener shouldn't be used until after you've got the recipe locked in.
Recipe 4 - why bother?
Recipe 5 -hmmmm
I don't know why you always get downvoted. I enjoy your very very vocal dislike of all things strawberry, peach and vanilla. Behind the hated is generally good advice and mixing tips.
Agreed. Shouldn't be downvoted as there's fucking solid advice in this post. Recipe 1 just hurts me. TFA Blackerry at 7% is insanity. For blackberry you want 0.5-0.7% of TFA Blackberry with 3-4% FW Blackberry and the lemon mix or any citrus really is a definite must. Add this blackberry mix to FA Forest Fruit and FLV Boysenberry, some ws23 and polar blast and you're off and running.
Probably because people can’t handle criticism especially if it’s slightly abrasive.
"slightly abrasive"... Only 'slightly'? Should I have called OP a hockey puck? (Honestly, how many of you didn't need to google for that reference? Congratulations, you're all fucking old too. Which means you've got more experience at not dying than the typical member here.)
You realize that you might have made yourself a target with that defence... We'll have to see, I guess. As best I can figure, a percentage of idiots who have poor enough taste to enjoy those vile flavors and are secretly ashamed will, instead of trying to defend the indefensible, just abuse the downvoting mechanism in some awkward attempt at self-expression.
I'm trying to wrap my head around it all and.... I cant
What, you mean, what kind of person would think using juicy peach was a good idea? Or would take TFA blackberry into TFA White chocolate range? Or something else?
I don't have any direct recipe help, but! In my baby steps towards developing my own recipes, here's what I've been doing:
On ATF I will click the page for the flavor I'm looking to make the main note. I then browse through existing recipes making note of what its commonly paired with and what percentages it's paired at. Do the same for secondary/tertiary flavors, making notes along the way (nothing too in depth, just scribbles in the notebook I have devoted to my mixing space). Sometimes I will also go into the flavor review list in the side bar and see what was recommended for pairings/what the percentages were for main note vs accent, etc. THEN I build my draft of a recipe and mix it.
I also am beginning to branch out into other flavors that I wouldn't necessarily know were vital to a fruit mix (for example the two commercial juices I liked, one I'm 99% sure meringue is what i was missing in that one, and either marshmallow or banana in the other. These are NOT main notes, barely discernible, but they act to "fill" or "smooth out" the edges between fruits) so don't be afraid to try things like that too!
(Sorry for the wall of text, and good luck!)
Hell yeah man I took a very similar path
Step 1.) Remove all additives from your juices. Sour, sweetener, menthol
Step 2.) Remove all shit flavors from your juices, and look up common usage percents. Some flavor can be "broken"(for instance FLV Greek Yogurt from .25-1% gives a thick creaminess, 1%-3% is old man breath, 4%-7% is a tangy, thick cream with a milky exhale. In this example, I "broke" the flavor by using enough to get past the off notes, but it is meant to be used in the lower range) But, most flavors don't "break" favorably.
Step 3.) Get better flavors. The most important part of making a simple fruit recipe is starting with good fruits. You have to know what flavor will give you the desired result. For instance, FLV Mango is a much better juicy, sweet mango, and FLV Pineapple plays better with other flavors than CAP.
Step 4.) Look up common usage percents. This gets two steps because it's that important.
To add Juicy I like a few drops of dragon fruit or cactus but all fruits have there friends and it is a learning curve or research ELR under resource/flavor list and check what is recommended. It is a safe starting point.

You can mix recipes from ELR or all the flavors i believe there there are few hundred thousand to mix. Will keep you busy. Enjoy.
In general, Cactus is great for wetness, CAP Hibiscus is great for blending and turning syrupy, and a citrus zest flavor like INW lemon mix is good for making something fruity 'pop'. But the base flavors have to be right, or all the little help won't help.
Using ELR as a resource for that is a terrible idea.
